Opis:
The article presents the results of diagnostic-correlative research of quantitative/ qualitative character, related to information competence in teachers in the scope of the application of ICT methods and tools in the context of new trends in technology and the accompanying civilizational transformations. The methods of a diagnostic survey and statistical methods were applied (poll and narrative interview). A sample of 1160 teachers was examined and it was determined that: 1) the level of competence represented by the majority of the respondents can be described as satisfactory (in the light of standards – sufficient) to undertake activities for the implementation of ICT in professional practice; 2) there is a distinct connection (correlation: high, positive) between the level of information competence (findings in the cognitive sphere of teaching achievements) and the level of application of modern ICT tools (appropriate incentives in practice).

Opis:
The article presents a fragment of diagnostic-correlational studies of a quantitative-qualitative nature, establishing pupils’ information competence in the use of ICT in the context of technological trends and accompanying civilisational changes. The research seeks answers to the question why children and teenagers use ICT tools in everyday practice. A diagnostic survey method (questionnaire and interview) and statistical methods were used. 2510 pupils were surveyed, and it was established that: 1) pupils’ numerous indications, obtained through open-ended questions, allowed for distinguishing eight important categories - reasons for using new technologies; 2) main reasons for using ICT lie in activities oriented at handling information (18.5%) and activities involving communication, also through social media (16.7%); 3) calculations of differentiating factors revealed statistical differences in three cases, namely between the opinion on reasons for using ICT by children and teenagers and: gender, stage of education, place of education. The treatment of children and teenagers as important stakeholders of the educational process helps improve it through selection of methods and tools adequate to pupils’ needs, expectations and cognitive preferences.

Opis:
The article presents a multi-dimensional model of a continuum in educational environment as far as teachers’ activity in the postmodern world, inundated with rapidly developing Information and Communication Technology (ICT), is concerned. The conception is designed by means of literature analysis, complemented with the findings of empirical/diagnostic/correlative research of quantitative/ qualitative character, meant to pinpoint the levels of 1160 teachers’ information literacy within the area of the use of ICT tools and methods. The boundary values of the model were determined (i.e., the concept-constructs of “cloud” and “silo”) together with their referents to six layers, including: technology, society, economy, knowledge, culture and philosophy (epistemology, axiology). Also, an attempt was made to calibrate teachers’ performance in their educational environment at the time of technological and cultural change.

Opis:
The article presents a part of diagnostic and correlative research of quantitative and qualitative character, locating pupils’ information skills in the use of ICT in the context of new technology trends and the accompanying civilizational changes. The considered issues seek answers to the question on the sources of knowledge and skills acquired by pupils in the field of using new technologies. A diagnostic survey (questionnaire and interview) and statistical methods were used. 2,510 pupils were examined and it was established that: 1) numerous pupils’ indications, obtained through an open question, allowed for distinguishing as many as 14 categories of sources of information; 2) The pupils mainly locate the sources of ICT knowledge and skills in informal education (61.9%), by the same token diminishing the weight of organised, formal education and the influence of didactic institutions (38.1%); 3) the calculation of differentiating factors revealed statistically significant differences between the sources of ICT knowledge and skills in relation to gender, stage of learning, and place of learning.

Opis:
Zbadano 2510 uczniów i 1110 nauczycieli. Ustalono, że: 1) wg zagregowanej hierarchii ważności działań podejmowanych w cyberprzestrzeni, grom komputerowym uczniowie nadali małą wagę (miejsce czwarte), a nauczyciele największąwagę (miejsce pierwsze); 2) istnieje związek (korelacja: przeciętna, dodatnia, pozytywna – r 0,49)pomiędzy opinią uczniów a spostrzeżeniami nauczycieli co do częstości korzystania przez dziecii młodzież z instrumentów ICT w celu grania; 3) obliczenia wykazały istotne różnice statystycznepomiędzy częstością korzystania przez dzieci i młodzież z gier komputerowych a płcią i etapemkształcenia uczniów; 4) zauważalne jest podobieństwo między opinią uczniów a nauczycieli, nieznaczne „odseparowanie” świata dzieci i młodzieży („My”) od świata nauczycieli („Oni”).
The article presents a fragment of diagnostic-correlative research of a mixed character, identifying learners’ information literacy in the use of ICT methods and tools. The author aims to answerthe question defining the frequency of using ICT by children and adolescents (hierarchy of importance of activities) in the area of computer games. For this purpose, the method of a diagnosticsurvey (questionnaire and interview) and statistical methods (chi-square test of independenceand Pearson’s correlation coefficient) were used. Together, 2510 learners and 1110 teachers (inPoland) were involved. It was established that: 1) according to the aggregate hierarchy of importance of activities undertaken in cyberspace, the learners attached little weight (fourth place)when the teachers the greatest (first place) to computer games; 2) there is a relationship (correlation: average, positive – r 0,49) between the learners’ and teachers’ opinions as to the frequency of using ICT instruments by children and adolescents in order to play; 3) the calculationsshowed significant statistical differences between the frequency of using ICT by children and adolescents in the area of computer games and their gender and the stage of education; 4) there isa noticeable similarity between the opinions of the learners and the teachers and an insignificant“separation” of the world of children and youth (“Us”) from the world of teachers (“Them”).

Opis:
The article presents part of a diagnostic and correlational study of mixed character that establishes pupils’ information competency in the use of ICT methods and tools. It investigates the effects of children’s and teenagers’ ICT use (importance levels of new media influence) on improving reflexes and manual coordination. To obtain the data, the author used a diagnostic survey method (questionnaire and interview) and statistical methods (chi-square test of independence and Pearson’s correlation coefficient). Together, 2,510 pupils and 1,110 teachers were surveyed. It was found that in the aggregated importance hierarchy of ICT effects, the category ‘reflexes and manual coordination’ was given a high weight by the pupils (third place) and a very high weight by the teachers (second place). There was a faint and negative correlation (r @ -0.009) between pupils’ opinions and teachers’ observations on the effects of ICT use by children and teenagers in the improvement of reflexes and manual coordination. The calculations of differential factors revealed statistically significant differences between the opinions of the two groups and gender, educational stage, place of learning and the gender of teachers. There was a noticeable discrepancy between the pupils’ and teachers’ opinions: a not very significant ‘separation’ of the world of children and teenagers (‘us’) from the world of teachers (‘them’). This may raise concerns as teachers’ recognition and understanding of students’ needs, according to the ideas of constructivism, is one of the key factors in the success of the educational process.

Opis:
The report presents the evaluation results of educational projects implemented in 2022 by the Academy of Programming and Robotics (AP&R) operating at the non-governmental organization (NGO). The Academy conducts educational activities for children and youth, primarily from rural areas, usingthe STEAM model project method, with the substantive and didactic support of the University of Zielona Góra. The funding for teaching resources and class operations comes entirely from obtained grants, leading to evaluations by financing institutions, mainly local governments. The evaluation results show that the classes received high ratings, even though the concept of STEAM education remains relatively unfamiliar to both the Participants and Observers. Participants have a limited perception of the practical usefulness of interdisciplinary classes. In contrast, Observers highly appreciate the educational value of integrated education, particularly in the fields of technology, computer science, programming, mathematics, and physics. The implementation of the STEAM model is particularly successful in classes related to the construction and operation of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) installations. The collaboration between AP&R and the University has spanned over 5 years, providing valuable experience, and enabling the collection of conclusions and recommendations for continuous improvement of educational practices. These insights aim to enhance the effectiveness of the educational projects.

The article presents a fragment of diagnostic research of a mixed nature, establishing the media reality of preschool children. It seeks answers to the question about the media reality of preschoolers in the opinions of children, teachers and parents. The diagnostic survey method (questionnaire, interview, document analysis) and statistical methods (chi-square test of independence, ANOVA, Phi coefficient, Cramer's V) were used. The study examined 100 6-year-old children, 100 parents and 16 pre-school teachers. It was established that: 1) pre-school children: have unlimited access to the mobile applications; they use media tools in an uncontrolled way at home; in kindergarten, they learn the rational and correct use of new technologies while playing and learning; 2) parents and teachers assess children's media competency at an average level; parents see advantages and disadvantages in the media usage by children; 3) children can independently install games on a tablet or smartphone, often their parents install them themselves (usually these are games inappropriate for children’s age); 4) there are significant differences between the opinion of children and the observations of parents regarding the use of media tools; preschoolers claimed that they use tablets more often, and parents most often indicated that the children mainly watch TV; 5) calculations of differentiating factors showed significant statistical differences only in one case – between teachers' opinion on the children’s level of media competency and the teachers’ degree of professional advancement; the higher the degree of advancement, the lower the assessment of the competency level represented by six-year-olds.

Opis:
For decades, critics of higher education have been asserting that competencies students can demonstrate upon course completion are much better predictors of what students know and can do than time spent in courses or grades. However, assessment of student learning has not been adopted by faculty and their leaders, and the effort is normally addressed as a bureaucratic demand. The objective was to identify topics that could help shape the discourse regarding the assessment of student learning. The study revealed that the universities in Poland are ready to ensure graduating students competencies demanded by the contemporary world.
