Opis:
Micellar mediated extraction (MME) is a new and alternative method of obtaining biologically active substances, such as flavones, flavanones, anthocyanins, triterpene from plant material. In this study a series of polyethoxylated sorbitan esters of fatty acids (Tween 20, 40, 60 and 80) have been applied for the extraction of green tea containing Chrysanthemum morifolium flowers. Results showed that all tested surfactants were effective in the solubilisation of flavonoids and phenolic compounds. Probably, because of too high hydrophilicity, Tween 20 was not sufficient to obtain antioxidants, in contrast to another Tween. It has been shown that method is economical, attractive and ecological.

Noise concerns in shock absorbers can be divided into two categories. The first is fluid flow noise, or “swish noise”, caused by the oil being forced through openings in the valves. The type and temperature of the oil, its velocity and the orifice geometry all have an effect on this. In addition, the structural design of the shock absorber shell may either reduce or amplify the noise. The second type of shock absorber noise is often described as regular operational noise or “chuckle noise”. It can be observed in vehicles during low-displacement, higher-frequency events, such as driving over a slightly rough road. This effect measurable as a force discontinuity into the vehicle and can come from a number of sources in the shock absorber, e.g. hydraulic transitions. It is often traceable to the valve discs closing and opening, but can also be caused by cavitation/aeration in the oil and air being pulled through the valves. The work on noise improvement reported in this paper has been started using conventional shock absorbers to be extended and will cover in the future variable damping shock systems as well. The paper gives an overview about the configurations of a typical valve system including three basic regimes of operation, which correspond to the amount of oil flowing through a valve cavity. The aim of this work was to propose a finite element fluid flow model, which can be used in order to reduce the velocity of fluid flow through a cavity of a shock absorber valve. High flow velocity can cause high-content frequency vibrations and, in turn, audible noise. The model will be used for initial screening of new valve concepts and on the other hand to improve the currently use ones.

This paper addresses the issue of drillbits for drilling normal and large diameter boreholes with the use of percussion-rotary method. The most important elements of drillbits, i.e. sintered carbide inserts of different shapes have been described. The hardness of the drilled rock determines the shape of used sintered carbide inserts and the shape of the drillbit face. The cluster hammers, used for drilling large diameter DTH, have been also presented.

Friction stir welding developed in early 90’s is a refreshing approach to the joining of different kinds of metals. FSW has become increasingly popular and provides excellent alternative to conventional welding or riveting sheets of various metals. The paper present the results of research work on linear FSW joining magnesium alloys AZ31B of 0.5 mm in thickness. The study was conducted on properly adapted numerical controlled 3 axis milling machine using a own made tools and fastening device. The tool dimensions have been estimated in accordance with the algorithm shown in the literature [2]. All joints were made of end-to end (butt) configuration under different process parameters. The effect of selected technological parameters on the quality of the joint was analyzed. Produced butt joint have been subjected to a static tensile testing to identify mechanical features of the materials of joints compared to parent materials. Measurements of micro hardness HV in the plastically formed stir zone of joint and in the parent material have been carried out. Axial and radial welding forces in the joining region were recorded during the tests and their dependency from the welding parameters was studied . Based on results of strength tests the efficiency of joints for sheets of 0.5 mm in thicknesses oscillated up to 90% compared to the parent material. It has been found that for given parameters the correct, free of defects joints were obtained. The results suggests that FSW can be potentially applied to magnesium alloys.

It has been found that for given parameters the correct, free of defects joints were obtained. The paper also presents the results of low-cycle fatigue tests of obtained FSW joints. The use of a ceramic tool in the FSW process allows to obtain welds with higher strength than conventional tools. The results suggests that FSW can be potentially applied to joining aluminum alloys.

Friction stir welding (FSW) is one of the youngest methods of metal welding. Metals and its alloys are joined in a solid state at temperature lower than melting points of the joined materials. The method is constantly developed and friction stir spot welding (FSSW) is one of its varieties. In the friction stir spot welding process a specially designed tool is brought into rotation and plunged, straight down, in the joined materials. Heat is generated as a result of friction between the tool and materials, and plastic deformation of the joined materials. Softening (plastic zone) of the joined materials occurs. Simultaneously the materials are stirred. After removal of the tool, cooling down the stirred materials create a solid state joint. Numerical simulation of the process was carried out with the ADINA System based on the finite element method (FEM). The problem was considered as an axisymmetric one. A thermal and plastic material model was assumed for Al 6061-T6. Frictional heat was generated on the contact surfaces between the tool and the joined elements. The model of Coulomb friction, in which the friction coefficient depends on the temperature, was used. An influence of the tool geometry on heat generation in the welded materials was analysed. The calculations were carried out for different radiuses of the tool stem and for different angles of the abutment. Temperature distributions in the welded materials as a function of the process duration assuming a constant value of rotational tool speed and the speed of tool plunge were determined. Additionally, the effect of the stem radius and its height on the maximum temperature was analysed. The influence of tool geometry parameters on the temperature field and the temperature gradient in the welded materials was shown. It is important regarding the final result of FSSW.
Zgrzewanie tarciowe z przemieszaniem (FSW) jest jedna ze stosunkowo niedawno opracowanych metod łączenia metali. Należy do grupy metod łączenia metali i ich stopów w stanie stałym, w temperaturach niższych od temperatury topnienia łączonego materiału. Metoda jest stale rozwijana, a jedną z jej odmian jest punktowe zgrzewanie tarciowe z przemieszaniem (FSSW). W procesie punktowego zgrzewania tarciowego z przemieszaniem specjalnie zaprojektowane narzędzie wprowadzane jest w ruch obrotowy i wgłebiane, pionowo w dół, w obszar łączenia dwóch elementów. Wskutek tarcia narzędzia o materiał oraz plastycznego odkształcania materiału, generowane jest ciepło. Następuje zmiękczenie materiału łączonych elementów. Zmiękczony materiał (uplastyczniony) jest stale mieszany. Po wyprowadzeniu narzędzia, przemieszany materiał stygnąc tworzy między spajanymi elementami złącze w stanie stałym. Symulację numeryczną procesu za pomocą metody elementów skończonych wykonano z wykorzystaniem programu ADINA. Problem rozpatrywano jako zagadnienie osiowosymetryczne. Przyjęto termoplastyczny model materiału - Al 6061-T6. Ciepło tarcia generowane jest na powierzchni kontaktu narzędzia z łączonymi elementami. Zastosowano model tarcia Coulomba, w którym współczynnik tarcia zależy od temperatury. W pracy analizowano wpływ geometrii narzędzia na generowanie ciepła w zgrzewanym materiale. Obliczenia przeprowadzono dla różnych wartości promienia trzpienia narzędzia oraz kąta wieńca opory. Wyznaczono rozkłady temperatury w zgrzewanym materiale w funkcji czasu trwania procesu, przyjmując stałą wartość prędkości obrotowej narzędzia i prędkości jego wgłębiania. Analizowano także zależność maksymalnej temperatury od promienia i wysokości trzpienia. Wykazano wpływ parametrów geometrycznych narzędzia na pole temperatury i gradientu temperatury w zgrzewanym materiale, co jest ważne dla finalnego efektu połączenia materiałów technologią FSSW.

The paper presents the results of theoretical analysis and experimental research on the material’s influence and tool geometry on the welding speed and mechanical strength of Al 2024 thin sheet metal joints. To make the joints, tungsten carbide and ceramics tools with a smooth and modified surface of the shoulder were used. The choice of the geometrical parameters of the tool was adjusted to the thickness of the joined sheet. During welding, the values of axial and radial force were recorded to determine the stability of the process. The quality of the joint was examined and evaluated on the basis of visual analysis of the surface and cross-sections of the joint area and the parent material, and subjected to mechanical strength tests. The test results indicate that both the geometry of the tool shoulder and the tool material have a decisive influence on the quality of the joint and the welding speed, making it possible to shorten the duration of the entire process.

The paper presents analysis of plasticity characteristics and microstructure of magnesium alloys for hot plastic treatment with different aluminium content (3÷8%). Tests were conducted for assessment of susceptibility of tested alloys to hot plastic deformation. A tensile test was run in temperature from 250 to 450°C. Based on the results, ultimate tensile strength (UTS) and reduction of area (Z) were determined for samples. Conducted compression tests allowed to specify the flow stress and microstructure changes after deformation. The activation energy in hot forming was determined for investigated alloys. The parameters of the process where flow is significantly influenced by twin formation in microstructure were determined. A varied plasticity of tested alloys was found depending on aluminium content. Test results will be useful in development of forging technology of selected construction elements which serve as light substitutes for currently used materials.
W pracy analizowano charakterystyki plastyczności i mikrostrukturę stopów magnezu przeznaczonych do przeróbki plastycznej na gorąco ze zróżnicowana zawartością aluminium (3-8%). Badania prowadzono dla oceny podatności badanych stopów do kształtowania plastycznego w warunkach przeróbki plastycznej na gorąco. Przeprowadzono próbę rozciągania w temperaturze od 250 do 450 st.C, na podstawie której określono wytrzymałość na rozciąganie i przewężenie badanych próbek. Wykonane próby ściskania pozwoliły na wyznaczenie naprężenia uplastyczniajacego i zmian mikrostruktury po odkształceniu. Dla badanych stopów wyznaczono energię aktywacji odkształcenia plastycznego na gorąco. Określono parametry procesu, dla których na przebieg plastycznego płynięcia wpływa istotnie bliźniakowanie w mikrostrukturze. Wykazano zróżnicowaną plastyczność badanych stopów w zależności od zawartości aluminium. Wyniki badań będą pomocne do opracowania technologii kucia wybranych elementów konstrukcyjnych stanowiących lekkie zamienniki stosowanych obecnie materiałów.

Opis:
The aim of the paper is to review different types of modern hybrid joints applied in aerospace. We focused on three particular cases: 1) spot welding - adhesive, 2) rivet-bonded and 3) clinch-bonded joints. The numerical models presented in the paper for these joints describe their complex behaviour under mechanical loading. The numerical calculations performed using ABAQUS code were compared to experimental results obtained by application of the Digital Image Correlation system (DIC) ARAMIS. The results investigated within the paper lead to the following major conclusions: - the strengthening of joints by application of adhesive significantly improve static strength, - the final failure of the joined structural system significantly depends on the surface adhesive area, - the stiffening effects of the hybrid joint lead to higher reliability and durability of the structural joints.
W pracy dokonano przeglądu różnych typów połączeń hybrydowych stosowanych w lotnictwie. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na trzy typy połączeń: 1) zgrzewanie punktowe - klejenie, 2) nitowanie - klejenie, 3) klinczowanie - klejenie. Modele numeryczne złączy zawarte w pracy, ujawniają złożoną i trudną do przewidzenia reakcję tych złączy na obciążenia mechaniczne. Obliczenia numeryczne porównano z wynikami eksperymentalnymi otrzymanymi za pomocą bezdotykowego systemu pomiaru odkształcen i naprężeń (DIC) ARAMIS. Główne wnioski z prezentowanych badań: - zastosowanie kleju powoduje istotne zwiększenie wytrzymałości statycznej testowanych połączeń, - na końcowy efekt zniszczenia złącza hybrydowego znaczący wpływ ma powierzchnia złącza klejowego, - zwiększona sztywność złączy hybrydowych powoduje, że mają one większą niezawodność i trwałość jako połączenia konstrukcyjne.

The effects of pollution on the biodiversity and genome response of Chironomidae larvae (Diptera, Insect) were evaluated in the trace metal contaminated water environments. No change on the Chironomid species diversity was found. The higher concentrations of trace metals (Cd, Pb, Cr, and Zn) affect the genome of 5 cytogenetically studied Chironomid species: Chironomus bernensis, C. plumosus, C. sp.1. Kiefferulus tendipediformis (cytotype 2), Glyptotendipes cauliginellus (syn. Glyptotendipes gripekoveni). Genome instability of Chironomid larvae was manifested by two ways: 1. Fixed chromosome rearrangements; homozygous inversions and tandem fusions created new gene linkage groups and show an intensive microevolutionary process of species. 2. Somatic structural (inversions, deficiencies, deletions, breaks); and functional alterations (decreasing the activity of the key structures: Balbiani rings (BRs) and Nucleolar Organizer (NOR)) in salivary gland chromosomes of cytogenetically studied Chironomidae species. Detecting somatic rearrangements in salivary gland chromosomes of these widely distributed aquatic insects is potentially one of the best validated bioassay and can be used as a cost effective early warning signals of environmental damage in freshwater basins.

Opis:
The paper presents the possibility of using FSW technology for joining elements of a landing gear beam of the M28 aircraft. The FSW process was performed on a 4-axis numerical machine under industrial conditions. However, before welding was carried out under industrial conditions, preliminary experimental tests were carried out under laboratory conditions. Preliminary research was carried out for AA2024-T3 aluminum sheets of 1 mm and 3 mm in thickness, joined in a lap configuration. The influence of technological and geometric parameters of the process on the quality and strength of the weld was examined. Sheet metal arrangement was analyzed. Tests were carried out for two configurations. The first of which with 1 mm sheet on the top and 3 mm sheet on the bottom and in reverse order. It has been shown that setting a thicker plate on the top gives a 40% better strength. The microhardness and microstructure of the weld were tested. During the laboratory tests, low-cycle fatigue tests of the FSW lap joint were performed. It has been shown that the FSW method can be an alternative to the riveting process in the production of aviation structure elements.
