    This paper aims at recognising potential innovations in weaving technology that may have occurred in Bronze Age Greece. It discusses whether these assumed developments may be examined diachronically. This discussion is based on archaeological evidence of textile implements, such as loom weights and presumed traces of warp-weighted looms, as well as knowledge of traditional craft and experimental archaeology. After a short introduction discussing how technical innovations could possibly be recognised in weaving, the paper explores possible changes in the construction and functionality of the warp-weighted loom and potential uses of other types of looms in Greece. A distribution pattern of specific forms of a loom weight, e.g. discoid loom weights in particular, is examined as an innovation responding to the demand for fabrics of specific technical qualities and appearance, possibly associated with a spread of new weaving techniques which accompanied the transmission of these tools. Social relations and modes of organisation of textile production are considered factors that must have had a significant impact on creativity and innovativeness in weaving technology. However, the final conclusion is that specific relations between the organisation of weaving and the occurrence of innovative processes cannot be clearly recognised based on the available evidence.

    Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of a traditional approach to marketing in the South African Pharmaceutical industry during the Covid-19 pandemic. Design/Method/Approach: The study adopted a qualitative and exploratory research design with an interpretivist epistemological paradigm. Interviews were conducted using the Zoom virtual platform to adhere to social distancing restrictions. The interviews were recorded, transcribed, and analysed using QDA Miner Lite software. The purposive sample consisted of eight participants employed within the pharmaceutical and medical device industry. Findings: The study found that the Covid-19 pandemic prompted pharmaceutical and medical device companies to modify their traditional marketing strategies. The restricted access of pharmaceutical sales and marketing representatives to healthcare facilities led to a shift towards digital marketing. Theoretical Implications: The study contributes to the development of knowledge regarding the effectiveness of traditional marketing strategies in the pharmaceutical industry during times of disruption. It highlights the need for pharmaceutical companies to adapt their strategies and incorporate digital platforms into their marketing efforts. Practical Implications: Practitioners in the pharmaceutical and medical device industry can learn from the study's findings by recognizing the importance of diversifying marketing strategies and embracing digital platforms. Adapting quickly to disruptive events such as the Covid-19 pandemic is crucial to maintaining market effectiveness. Originality/Value: This study offers new insights into the efficacy of traditional marketing strategies in the South African pharmaceutical industry during a global pandemic. It emphasizes the value of incorporating digital platforms and diversifying marketing approaches to enhance industry resilience. Research Limitations/Future Research: The findings of this study are specific to the South African pharmaceutical industry during the Covid-19 pandemic. Future research could explore the effectiveness of traditional marketing strategies in different geographical contexts and examine the long-term impact of incorporating digital platforms into marketing strategies.
    Мета роботи: Метою цього дослідження було оцінити ефективність традиційного підходу до маркетингу у фармацевтичній галузі Південної Африки під час пандемії Covid-19. Дизайн / Метод / Підхід дослідження: У дослідженні було застосовано якісний та пошуковий дизайн дослідження з інтерпретаційною епістемологічною парадигмою. Інтерв'ю проводилися за допомогою віртуальної платформи Zoom з дотриманням обмежень соціальної дистанції. Інтерв'ю записувалися, розшифровувалися та аналізувалися за допомогою програмного забезпечення QDA Miner Lite. Цільова вибірка складалася з восьми учасників, які працюють у фармацевтичній та медичній промисловості. Результати дослідження: Дослідження показало, що пандемія Covid-19 спонукала фармацевтичні та медичні компанії модифікувати свої традиційні маркетингові стратегії. Обмежений доступ фармацевтичних торгових і маркетингових представників до закладів охорони здоров'я призвів до переходу до цифрового маркетингу. Теоретична цінність дослідження: Дослідження сприяє розвитку знань щодо ефективності традиційних маркетингових стратегій у фармацевтичній галузі під час кризових явищ. Воно підкреслює необхідність для фармацевтичних компаній адаптувати свої стратегії та включити цифрові платформи у свої маркетингові зусилля. Практична цінність дослідження: Фахівці фармацевтичної та медичної промисловості можуть скористатися результатами дослідження, визнавши важливість диверсифікації маркетингових стратегій та використання цифрових платформ. Швидка адаптація до руйнівних подій, таких як пандемія Covid-19, має вирішальне значення для підтримки ефективності ринку. Оригінальність / Цінність дослідження: Це дослідження пропонує нове розуміння ефективності традиційних маркетингових стратегій у фармацевтичній промисловості Південної Африки під час глобальної пандемії. Воно підкреслює цінність використання цифрових платформ та диверсифікації маркетингових підходів для підвищення стійкості галузі. Обмеження дослідження / Майбутні дослідження: Результати цього дослідження стосуються лише фармацевтичної промисловості Південної Африки під час пандемії Covid-19. Майбутні дослідження можуть вивчити ефективність традиційних маркетингових стратегій у різних географічних контекстах та дослідити довгостроковий вплив включення цифрових платформ у маркетингові стратегії.

    Learning to read in English usually poses a challenge for early EFL learners because the language represents a deep orthography, which is manifested by the irregularities in the relation between the written and spoken form of words. Teaching learners to read amid such irregularities requires advanced linguistic knowledge and appropriate didactic solutions on part of the teachers. The research concerns in–service teachers’ knowledge of the fundamental subcomponents of early reading, their familiarity with some linguistic terms necessary in teaching early reading and use of appropriate didactic applications. The current study is quantitative and qualitative in nature; a survey was conducted among primary school, Polish EFL teachers working in and around Biała Podlaska. The research indicates that the knowledge teachers have regarding the development of early reading is considerable, however, in some cases the basic linguistic terminology, i.e. phonological awareness, seems to be misunderstood. Also, in some cases, the choice of early EFL reading instruction in early literacy does not follow the current recommendations. The results suggest that in–service, primary school, Polish EFL teachers might need additional, supplementary training in early reading development. It can also be concluded that university courses aimed at pre-service EFL teachers should devote more time and resources to early reading development in English.

    Nowadays the system requirements are set up and evaluated in various manners. We have plenty of excellent options available taking into account item technical state or/and other states and talking about diagnostic options. Tribodiagnostics is one of the independent and good parts to assess the system condition. The paper deals with the mathematical processing, monitoring and analysis of the oil field data got as a result from the laser spectrography in frame of the tribodiagnostic oil tests. This diagnostic approach has been currently used for oil diagnostic results comparison – usually for comparison of expected system state determined by laser spectrography only. There is not known deeper relation of oil diagnostics data and system related consequences (like determining the terminal state and service optimization – maintenance for instance).
    Obecnie stan systemu diagnostycznego może być oceniany w różny sposób. Biorąc pod uwagę dostępne opcje diagnostyczne, możliwa jest ocena stanu technicznego lub innych stanów obiektu na podstawie jednej z wielu metod. Diagnostyka tribologiczna jest jedną z niezależnych i efektywnych metod oceny kondycji systemu. W artykule opisano proces matematycznego przetworzenia, monitorowania i analizy danych dotyczących oleju, uzyskanych z laserowej spektrografii przeprowadzonej w ramach diagnostyki trybologicznej. Przedstawiona metoda jest obecnie wykorzystywana do badani właściwości olejów, zazwyczaj w odniesieniu do stanu oczekiwanego. Nie są znane dokładniejsze relacje między danymi diagnostycznymi uzyskanymi z badania oleju, a stanem technicznym całego systemu (jak stan niezdatności, czy optymalizacja obsługiwań).

It focuses on two key findings of an extensive analysis: (1) deeper theoretical insights that emerge from the wealth of data and that are condensed into Axel Honneth’s ‘theory of recognition’; (2) a revealing comparison of the ‘university cultures’ of the seven countries studied. A brief conclusion for future university policies in Europe closes the contribution.

    This quasi-experimental study aimed at looking into the effectiveness of blended learning approach in improving the performance in Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT) Course of Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT) first year students at JBLFMU-Arevalo during the second semester of school year 2018-2019. The respondents of this research were the two sections comparable with each other who were enrolled in the subject ICT. There were 40 student respondents composed of 20 in the experimental group and 20 in the control group. A validated and reliability-tested 45 item researcher-made multiple choice test was used as an instrument with a Cronbach index of 0.88. The statistical tools used were mean, standard deviation, Mann-Whitney test, and Wilcoxon-Signed ranks test set at .05 level of significance. The effect size was computed to determine the effectiveness of the blended learning approach in terms of students’ performance in ICT. Results showed that in the pretest, though the experimental group had a higher mean score than the control group, the Mann-Whitney test showed that the mean scores of the two groups were comparable because the significant value was greater than .05. When the treatment was introduced, findings showed that there were significant differences in the ICT performance in the pretest and posttest of experimental and control groups as well as in the posttests of both groups. Results inferred that blended learning approach was more than a hundred percent effective showing significant results on the experimental group. It could also be inferred that the better performance of the control group could be attributed to the traditional method of teaching, the lecture method.

    Since the wide acceptance of the traditional conceptualization of the four skills in EFL methodology – that is listening, reading, speaking and writing – in the 1960s and 1970s, it has become clear that the framework for foreign language skill instruction requires further professional modification. In fact, over the years a range of questions have been put forward in order to explain potential relationships between them and suggest their ordering, coordination, integration or interdependence in working out practical solutions. The undertaken debates have contributed to launching the use of the terms of ‘integrating language skills’ or ‘integrated skills’. The goal of this chapter is to provide an overview of evolving standpoints taken by ELT specialists on the issue of integrating language skills, primarily referred to the four language skills. However, since the audiolingualists’ support given to the traditional model of the four skills, both theoreticians and practitioners have brought about into the forefront a range of new ideas, many of them connected with the growing significance of ICT and online activities implemented in L2/FL teaching and learning. The considerations of language skills integration have proved crucial for materials and course designers as well as practicing teachers responsible for lesson planning and task construction. A recently proposed division of language skills into reception, production, interaction and mediation (Council of Europe, 2001, 2018) has reduced the status of the traditional conceptualization of the four language skills and offered a broader, more comprehensive view of language skills and the links holding between them.
