Opis:
Sport carries great significance in Liechtenstein and is considered to be an important social and leisure time activity. From the 35’000 residents over a third is engaged in sports clubs. In the context of the lifestyle of the upcoming generation, physical education (PE) at school is of a particular biographical significance in addition to the sports clubs. In the environment of mandatory PE classes the children and youths accumulate not only multi-faceted physical, exercise and social experience; they are at the same time obliged to participate in a minimum amount of weekly physical activities. These aspects are taking on increasing significance in the light of the current development trends in the physical and health status of adolescents (e.g. increasingly poor posture, motoric deficiencies, overweight). School sports projects are consequently promoted generously by the country. With this background, the present contribution presents an insight into the current status of PE and school sports in Liechtenstein and some current projects are presented.

Opis:
In the interwar period of the 20th century, 30% of the total population of Poland was comprised of national minorities. Among them, the German minority of 740 thousand people played a very prominent role. The Germans lived mainly in the western parts of Poland: Pomeranian, Poznań and Silesian voivodeships, as well as in the district of Lodz. The German community was wealthy and influential thanks to the economic traditions and support provided by the German state. In order to stop the process of polonization, the Germans established and developed numerous forms of economic, cultural and social activity. They were very active in the area of physical culture. Their activities included taking great care of the development of physical education and sport in German schools at both primary and secondary education level. Physical education classes were taught and school sports competitions were organized. Physical education was one of the most popular school subjects and was intended to preserve the “German spirit” among pupils. The majority of German schools had a curriculum in place that included two hours of physical education per week and some of them even four hours of PE classes per week. The best teaching staff and sports facilities were to be found in private schools, especially secondary schools, where physical education and school sports enjoyed a very prominent status.

Opis:
According to various national and international reports, the Moroccan education system still suffers from recurrent dysfunctions reflected in low student achievement. Indeed, different factors influence the scores of students including the rate of physical inactivity. The objective of this study is to evaluate the relationship between physical activity, sedentary behaviours and school outcomes. 689 students enrolled at Moroccan secondary schools, aged between 14 and 25, were randomly recruited from each grade. For each student, the overall average for the first semester was calculated and classified into three levels: high, medium and low. The school performance of girls is significantly higher (p< 0.05) than that of boys while boys are significantly more active (p<0.05) than girls. Physically active students have higher overall school mark averages than inactive students. Indeed, significant positive associations between the level of physical activity and school performance (r=0.176; p<0.001) and with physical education and sports performance were noted. In conclusion, the practice of physical activity should be encouraged among Moroccan students. It has beneficial effects on health in general and especially on the school performance of children and adolescents.

Opis:
Background. Insufficient intake of vitamins and minerals, in teenagers engaged in physical activity increases the risk of health disorders. Objective. The aim of this study was to evaluate selected vitamins and minerals intake in 13-15 -year-old boys from sport school. Material and methods. The study of dietary intake was conducted among 44 boys from the School of Sport Championship (SSC). Nutritional data was collected using 24-hour recall for 3 days of week. Daily intake of minerals: sodium, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, zinc, copper, iodine and vitamins: A, E, D, B1, B2, B6, B12, C, folate and niacin was estimated. The probability of insufficient intake of nutrients in relation to the standard levels: Estimated Average Requirement (EAR) or Adequate Intake (AI) as well as excessive intake of them in relation to the Tolerable Upper Intake Level (UL) were assessed. Results. The highest percentage of insufficient intake concerned vitamin D (100%), potassium (69%), folate (53%), and calcium (50%), slightly lower of magnesium (27%), vitamins C (24%) and E (15%). The risk of inadequate intake of other minerals: sodium, copper, iron, zinc, phosphorus, iodine and vitamins: B6, B1, B2, A, B12, niacin, was relatively lower and amounted from 0.3% to 5.4%. The disturbingly high probability of exceeding the UL for sodium (99.5%) was observed. Conclusions. A significant disproportion between the mean intake and the percentage of inadequate diets indicates a large diversity in the intake of vitamins and minerals in the group of studied boys, what was the reason of unbalanced diet. The insufficient intake concerns especially vitamin D, potassium, folate, calcium and a lesser extent magnesium, vitamins C and E. Sodium intake was disturbingly high. In order to avoid nutritional mistakes in the future education on the rational nutrition among students, their parents, and teachers is necessary.
Wprowadzenie. Niewystarczające spożycie witamin i składników mineralnych wśród, nastoletniej młodzieży obciążonej wysiłkiem fizycznym zwiększa ryzyko wystąpienia zaburzeń w stanie zdrowia. Cel. Ocena spożycia witamin i składników mineralnych przez trenujących chłopców w wieku gimnazjalnym. Materiał i metody. Badaniami objęto 44 chłopców w wieku 13-15 lat ze szkoły mistrzostwa sportowego. Dane o spożyciu zebrano na podstawie wywiadów z ostatnich 24 godzin poprzedzających badanie, z 3 dni tygodnia. Obliczono spożycie składników mineralnych: sodu, potasu, wapnia, fosforu, magnezu, żelaza, cynku, miedzi, jodu oraz witamin: A, E, D, B1, B2, B6, B12, C, niacyny i folianów. Wyniki. Najwyższe ryzyko niedostatecznego spożycia dotyczyło witaminy D (100%), potasu (69%), folianów (53%) i wapnia (50%), natomiast nieco niższe, magnezu (27%), witamin: C (24%) i E (15%). Ryzyko niedostatecznego spożycia dotyczyło w szczególności witaminy D, potasu, folianów, wapnia, a w mniejszym stopniu magnezu, witaminy C i E. Niepokojąco wysokie było spożycie sodu.

Opis:
Cel: W artykule prezentujemy wyniki analizy porównawczej i zależnościowej między aktyw-nością ruchową, przyjemnością z aktywności ruchowej a jakością życia u uczennic szkół średnich z różnym poziomem sportowym. Wnioski: Wyniki potwierdzają znaczenie dobrowolnej i zorganizowanej aktywności fizycznej w życiu uczniów szkół średnich, którzy mają potencjał, aby podnieść poziom zadowolenia z ak-tywności fizycznej.
Purpose: This paper presents the results of a comparative and dependency analysis between physical activity, joy of physical activity and quality of life in female high school students with different levels of sport performance. Methods: The survey was attended by (n = 560) 16–19 years old high-school students. The quality of life was monitored using the modified SQUALA questionnaire, the joy of physical activity using the PACES questionnaire and the level of physical activity during the week in hours (PA). The data are presented by means of descriptive characteristics (n, M, SD) and statistical significance and dependencies respectively are assessed using nonparametric methods (W, U, rs) on significance levels (p < ,10; p < ,05 and p < ,01). Results: The results of the dependency analysis did not show a large number of interactions between the PA, PACES and SQUALA among high-school female students. We found the interactions between the PA and PACES or SQUALA sporadically in groups of girls with the different levels of sports, where positive interactions predominated. PA in the week is positively correlated with PACES (rs = ,218, p < ,10) only in registered female athletes. Positive interactions between PACES and SQUALA can be found in top female athletes (material well-being p < ,10; education p < ,05; free time p < ,01) and in occasional female athletes (physical well-being p < ,20; psychosocial well-being p < ,20; appearance and ownership of things p < ,20). Conclusions: The results confirm the importance of voluntary and organized physical activity in the life of high-school students, who have the potential to increase the level of satisfaction with activity. The paper was published from the grant of the Ministry of Education KEGA 003 UKF-4/2016.

Opis:
The aim of this study was to observe the importance of sport activities among 5th grade pupils in the canton of Schwyz (located in Central Switzerland) and to identify possible differences between children of various nationalities. The cross-sectional study was carried out in 30 randomly selected classes during the school year 2015/2016. The sample (n = 468) consisted of 52.8 % boys and 47.2 % girls, aged 10.8+0.7 years old. Socio-demographic characteristics, interests and participation in sports were established using a standardized questionnaire. The majority of the observed primary school children (85.7%) participate regularly in sports. Approximately 5 hours of sports are practised on average per week; about 18 % are engaged in such activities for more than 7 hours. The percentage of fully sport-abstinent children is around 3.5 %. In accordance with other studies, the influence of immigration backgrounds seems to be mainly moderated by gender. While boys with foreign or Swiss origin are equally enthusiastic about sports, there is clearly a lower level of participation in sports in general and especially in sports clubs among girls who come from an immigrant background. Therefore, they should be considered one of the important target groups for exercise promotion programs.

Physical education is a very important discipline since it helps the development of students' cognitive abilities and motor skills. Also, physical education may be the best setting for individuals with hearing loss to learn about physical activity and a healthy lifestyle. Purpose: The objective of this study was to analyse differences in students' feelings in physical education classes and their leisure time preferences at the second grade of elementary schools for the deaf by degree of hearing loss. Material and methods: Participants were 86 students with hearing loss (severe to profound hearing loss, n = 51; 59.3%); an average age of 14.3 ± 1.4 years. Six elementary schools for the deaf participated in the research. The data were described using absolute and relative frequencies, including the mean and standard deviation. The non-parametric Mann-Whitney U-test, Kruskal-Wallis test, Fisher exact test, Chi-square test and Bonferroni post hoc tests were used for statistical analyses. For calculation of effect size coefficient abs(r) was used. All tests were performed at a significance level of alpha 0.05. Physical education is more popular among students with a more severe hearing loss (Z = -2.409; p = 0.016; abs(r) = 0.260). Relation to emotional response if a physical education class is cancelled, a small effect size coefficient (abs(r) = 0.175) was found, however statistical significance was not proven. Hearing loss affects the amount of leisure time spent listening to music - students with a less severe hearing loss do this activity considerably more often. By contrast, students who only use the Czech sign language do not listen to music. Conclusion: The degree of hearing loss has no negative effect on students' feelings in physical education classes and their preferences in leisure time.

Introduction: Physical activity is one of the essential factors in maintaining health and healthy body weight. As the pandemic of overweight and obesity continues to grow, it is crucial that children follow the recommended standards for physical activity from an early age. Both overweight and obesity are associated with an increased risk of diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and cancer. Excess body weight in childhood favors the maintenance of this problem in adulthood. Purpose of the study: The aim of the study was to evaluate the level of physical activity among school-aged children, to analyze individual components of body composition and to determine the influence of physical activity on maintaining normal body weight. Material and methods: We undertook to assess the physical activity levels of 245 school-aged children (7-15 years). was examined and analyzed the body composition of the study participants, and then the correlation of the level of physical activity with the maintenance of normal individual components of body composition was calculated. Results: Only 61% of childrens were characterized by normal body weight appropriate for their age. In the group of children declaring participation in extracurricular sport activities, the number of subjects with normal body weight was 65%, while in the group of subjects who declared no extracurricular activity of any kind, the percentage was 58%. Conclusions: It turned out that the number of children engaged in physical activity outside of school is alarmingly low. The study showed that children who participated in any extracurricular sport activity were more likely to maintain normal body weight and less likely to be overweight or obese.

Hyperactivity associated with lack of concentration poses a problem to teachers. This behavioral disorder, which affects school achievement, behavior and social relationships, requires specific educational approach. One of the possibilities of correcting such a disorder is through movement and physical activity, which is important not only for somatic development, but also for social development of children. At present, this issue is being discussed among experts in the field. The research was conducted in the school year 2012/2013. The sample consisted of 46 primary school teachers who taught at the first degree of elementary school. The teachers evaluated 123 integrated pupils aged 6 to 10. To assess behavioral disorders, we used Vanderbilt ADHD Diagnostic Teacher Rating Scale (VADTRS), a diagnostic tool used by teachers to identify children with ADHD. Arousing interest in physical activities, increasing their effectiveness and making these activities more esthetic had positive effect on children as shown by their interest in physical activities. The teachers confirmed improvement in relationships with peers (89.13%), following directions/rules (93.48%) and disrupting classes (86.96%). This study was supported by project VEGA 1/0769/13 “The Effectiveness of Specific Movement Reeducation Procedures on the Correction of Hyperkinetic Disorders of Prepubertal Children”.
Obecnie stanowi to znany problem. Badania przeprowadzono w roku szkolnym 2012/2013.
