Opis:: The paper introduces the need of improving skills level of students using Internet network. The solution has been discussed on an example with remarks for the medical diagnostic devices. The laboratory, which is not large enough, for performing all needed training courses, can be provided the trainee after their main work hours. The elaborated solution is supported by various training interfaces, provided by standard Learning Management System (LMS) and the applications controlling machine called Multimedia Applications Management Shell (MAMS). The example platforms were supported by networking Debian Linux services and an open-source technology that is used freely, by many developers.

Opis:: A variety of network management systems is commercially available. However, their applicability for computer networking laboratories that are used for scientific, educational or engineering purposes (in particular, as a test environment for network-based software engineering) is limited. Also dedicated remote access systems do not offer enough flexibility. Major challenges are discussed in the paper. Most of the proposed solutions have been already implemented and tested.

Opis:: The transport safety is a property of the transport process (movement of individuals and/or goods), characterized by absence of danger to life and health of individuals [1,2,10]. This process should represent a high reliability and safety. The measure of safety is certainty that components of the transport process will remain intact during operation, except for natural changes due to ageing and wear. To ensure a sufficient safety level, it is vital to employ the electronic transport systems which aim is to increase the safety of transferred individuals and goods. The electronic transport systems are designed to detect the threats that occur during the transport process (for both stationary and moving objects). This article presents influence of the electromagnetic interferences within vast railway area on the electronic transport systems with one transmission bus. These electromagnetic interferences are able to completely compromise the electronic system, induce the voltage in the transmission buses or in other components of the system and trigger the alarm (higher probability of false alarm). While operating the transport safety system, full spectrum of electromagnetic interferences should be taken into account. Due to complex behavior of the electromagnetic waves during penetration (propagation), influence of the electromagnetic interferences requires separate analyzes for different frequency bands.

Opis:: After widespread use of work-from-home (a.k.a. ‘remote work’) during the COVID-19 pandemic, many organizations intend to continue or expand its use into the future. This paper presents a literature review and results from an original survey, both of which point to key considerations for planners and managers. Subjects that are highlighted include: giving remote workers access to job-related information they need; recognizing that certain types of tasks may be more challenging to manage in WFH, such as loosely specified tasks and those involving substantial change or newness; and issues that arise in regard to morale and motivation.

Opis:: The paper presents the design and the rationale behind a simple verification protocol for autonomous verification modules, and the architecture enabling use of such modules. The architecture assumes strict separation of all personal metadata and the actual verification data. The paper also describes a prototype implementation of the protocol and its extension enabling the state of the module to be monitored from the main system. The proposed design solves the problem of using advanced verification methods, especially biometric ones, in systems where direct implementation is not possible due to hardware incompatibilities, insufficient resources or other limitations.

Opis:: In our paper we present the INDIPHASO [1] e-learning system for the design of digital systems implemented using FPGAs or CPLDs. The system allows users to access remotely, from a computer connected to the Internet, developing boards based on programmable logic circuits and microcontrollers in order to implement their designs. The paper describes the way the users can access the software tools in order to perform the steps in a predefined or a custom design flow. The three described methods provide different levels of accessibility and possibility of design flow configuration.

Opis:: Remote controlled laboratories had a great push during the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, they were already out there but lacking in visibility. This external trigger pushed the academy to face a global challenge to start offering remote experiments more consistently and maturely. Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) has been offering several remote experiments since 2000 but with the need for an update due to technological aging. As such, the framework for remote experiments in education (FREE) was created based on new web technologies. In addition to the most diverse experiments that had already been developed, FREE includes two experiments that aimed at advanced-level physics students: the Langmuir probe and the electromagnetic (EM) cavity. Both allow users to configure the various parameters and to access the results in real time or check back later. All this access is done using a browser (on a PC or mobile phone) without the need to install additional software. The results of an experimental execution are stored in a database and are downloadable, allowing users to do various analyses and to determine the corresponding plasma density and temperature. In this paper, we will introduce how FREE was used in the implementation of both experiments and give an insight into their didactic approach, such as: (i) how to perform an experimental execution, (ii) the typical data set obtained with, and (iii) the corresponding analysis necessary for the user to retrieve information from it.
