Modal split between individual automobile transport and public passenger transport represents a ratio to 70:30 for individual transport. Long-term trend in Slovak republic is decrease in the number of passenger using public passenger transport. One of the possible determinants of passenger demand is service quality. Information is one of the important quality criteria. Information systems in passenger transport companies and information systems for passengers can improve service quality and stimulate passenger demand. In the one way operator should identify the requirements of passengers and in the other way these requirements should be filled with the maximum possible levels. Quality criteria information and punctuality are closely related. Punctuality is important for management of the transport operations and for passenger within the meaning of information about accuracy timetable. Implementation of information systems for passengers and respect for the latest trends can increase the quality of public passenger transport services in the Slovak republic. Raise of customer satisfaction should be the goal of each company, to ensure the sustainability of demand for public transport services.

The work presents a methodology that allows us to evaluate the effectiveness of the system in accordance with accepted standards in terms of the three components of the “passenger–carrier–department” system, taking into account the interests of each side. The given comprehensive effectiveness evaluation of the urban public passenger transport system shows that a new scientific idea consists in forming fundamentally new sets of indicators for each participant of the system (passenger–carrier–department of transport) that correspond to the conditions of functioning of the urban passenger transport system in Russian Federation. The article presents a classification model for the formation of a basic system of indicators and a functional scheme for grouping and ranking them. The effectiveness of the urban public passenger transport system can be considered separately for each participant in the system from its side, in two directions: horizontal (by year, for example, for an enterprise) and vertical (in the current period for all participants).

The task of increasing efficiency and quality of public transport has gotten special acuteness for large cities of Russia in connection with expansion of service by commercial carriers. There have no works done on the city of Omsk, where the transport system has its own characteristics. In this paper, characteristics of Omsk urban public transport are researched. The scheme that clearly demonstrates what factors have a negative impact on the development and functioning of the Omsk passenger transport system is developed. The measures that improve the efficiency of the passenger transportation system and provide an opportunity to advance the implementation of logistics principles are proposed. The activities took into account the experience of reforming the public transport system in other cities, the characteristics of the Omsk city system and a view to engagement of other scientists in this field of science.

The aim of the article is to analyse the selected evaluation factors of the quality of transport services in the public passenger transport using Piotrów Trybunalski as an example. Based on the analysis of the literature on the subject, the examples of factors and criteria for evaluating public passenger transport are presented. Then, numerical data characterising the needs for passenger transport in Piotrków Trybunalski were analysed. Based on this, a questionnaire was developed consisting of 10 questions regarding the quality of transport services provided by MZK Piotrków Trybunalski, and then interviews were conducted. The conclusions from the research are included in the article.
Celem artykułu jest analiza wybranych czynników oceny jakości usług transportowych w publicznym transporcie pasażerskim na przykładzie Piotrowa Trybunalskiego. Na podstawie analizy literatury przedmiotu przedstawiono przykładowe czynniki i kryteria oceny publicznego transportu pasażerskiego. Następnie przeanalizowano dane liczbowe charakteryzujące potrzeby w zakresie przewozów pasażerskich na terenie Piotrkowa Trybunalskiego. Na tej podstawie opracowano ankietę składającą się z 10 pytań dotyczących jakości świadczonych usług transportowych przez MZK Piotrkowa Trybunalskiego, a następnie przeprowadzono wywiady. Wnioski z badań zawarto w artykule.

Opis:
Designation of places for public transport stops is a key component of research on their accessibility. However, further research is needed to solve the problem with organization of public transport stops. This paper provides the results of an priori ranking analysis aimed at defining the most significant factors affecting the accessibility of stops and their scope. The proposed mathematical model, which uses dimensional theory, consists of two stages: pedestrians’ movement to a stop and passengers’ trip to a transit stop. It is a theoretical premise that allows to determination of placement of public transport stops considering the main indicators, which are the distance covered by pedestrians and the speed of public transport.

Public transportation provides its services to both urban centers and neighboring areas in the immediate vicinity of the city. The problem of urban transportation is evident, the number of people willing to use public transportation has decreased. Therefore, there is a need to delve into the issue and conduct an analysis of the demand for urban transportation in Poland in 2000-2030, this will allow us to assess in what direction urban transportation is heading, whether there is an increase in the number of people using it, or whether there is a downward trend (Zielińska 2018). Based on CSO statistics from 2009-2020 for the analysis of demand for public transportation in Poland, a forecast of people using public transportation was conducted using Statistica software for 2021-2030. Due to the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic, the study was conducted in 2 ways – with and without 2020. Public transportation will make less and less profit and even losses for the next few years through rising gasoline and energy prices. Virtually in each of the provinces, and likewise throughout Poland, a decline in the number of people willing to use public transportation is evident. conclusions. On the basis of the surveys carried out, there is a general trend that shows the current state of public transport. In most of the cases studied, a similar conclusion emerges, namely that public transport will experience a marked decline in the coming years. The number of people who want to use public transport will decrease, mainly due to the COVID-19 pandemic and people’s fears for their own safety.

Opis:
A unified approach is presented as the principle for a potential framework for evaluating driver schedules in public transport. There are two reasons for the need for such a framework. On the one hand, constructing optimal driver schedules is a challenging problem, and practical solutions cannot be compared to the optimum, which brings about the need to analyse the results with respect to an appropriate estimated value. On the other hand, the specific constraints and rules in different countries and for different companies make it difficult to model solutions in a unified way. Our new approach provides a solution to the above problems by employing an efficient general methodology from both the data modelling and process modelling point of view. By introducing the concept of reducible working time, our approach gives a realistic evaluation framework with an efficient solution method. The applicability of our approach is demonstrated through real-world cases.

The objective of this paper is to discuss the replication of passenger congestion (overcrowding) effects on output path choices in public transport assignment models. Based on a comprehensive literature review, the impact of passenger overcrowding effects was summarised in 3 main categories: the inclusion of physical capacity constraints (limits); the feedback effect between transport demand and supply performance; and the feedback effect on travel cost (discomfort penalty). Further on, sample case studies are presented, which prove that the inclusion of capacity constraints might significantly influence the assignment output and overall results in public transport projects’ assessment – yet most state-of-the-practice assignment models would either miss or neglect these overcrowding-induced phenomena. In a classical 4-step demand model, their impact on passengers’ travelling strategies is often limited to path (route) choice stage, while in reality they also have far-reaching implications for modal choices, temporal choices and long-term demand adaptation processes. This notion has been investigated in numerous research works, leading to different assignment approaches to account for impact of public transport capacity constraints – a simplified, implicit approach (implemented in macroscopic-based models, e.g. PTV VISUM), and a more complex, explicit approach (incorporated in mesoscopic-based models, e.g. BusMezzo). In the simulation part of this paper, sample tests performed on a small-scale network aim to provide a general comparison between these two approaches and arising differences in the assignment output. The implicit approach reveals some differences in assignment output once network capacity constraints are accounted for – though in a simplified manner, and producing somewhat ambiguous output (e.g. in higher congestion scenarios). The explicit approach provides a more accurate representation of overcrowding-induced phenomena - especially the evolving demand-supply interactions in the event of arising congestion in the public transport network. Further studies should involve tests on a city-scale, multimodal transport model, as well as empirical model validation, in order to fully assess the effectiveness of these distinct assignment approaches.

This article presents results of research devoted to spatial diversification of accessibility to passenger rail transport in the Łódź province. The analysis was conducted on the basis of a full inventory of railway connections of carriers providing their services within the boundaries of the region. Calculations were made in reference to 158 train stations and train stops as well as the population of 4,965 settlement units. Two variants of reaching a train stop by passenger were distinguished: on foot and using individual car transport. Both solutions include a number of border variants in the form of maximum equidistances of access on foot and isochrones of travel by car. Research proceedings were based on two-step floating catchment area (modified for the purposes of research into effectiveness of public rail transport), which provides for train frequency and travel time to individual stops from the topological perspective.

The main achievement of the research was to present the problems of accessing public transport in Warsaw agglomeration. The case study of Sulejówek shows that there are a lot of difficulties with the regional transport network. On the one hand there are organisation issues as inefficient or luck of support of train transport and, on the other hand, bad quality of local roads. Nevertheless, the simulation presents that it is possible to organise bus lines which allow inhabitants the access to the local train stations. The next step of the research would be creating timetables for both presented solutions in combination with train timetables and choosing the optimal option for implementation. This kind of research could be the recommendations for local authorities which are in charge of public transport issues. If both modes of transport are covered by one common ticket, the whole system would operate on effective and high level.

The article provides an overview of passenger transportation on local and international routes by the Lithuanian railways. It identifies the reasons due to which passenger transportation has become increasingly loss-making. Also, factors that may encourage a greater number of people to travel by train are disclosed. The development of this sector up to 2030 is reviewed, i.e. a forecast for increasing the number of passengers, a perspective for the development of electric, diesel trains, passenger wagon fleet, and the levels of estimated investments are provided. It was established that after implementation of the measures envisaged, losses in the passenger transportation field could be cut by 2–3 times.

The purpose of this work was to present the public transport system operating in the city of Lublin, including its history, organizational structure, elements of line and point infrastructure, and analysis of the survey results in the form of a survey conducted among 248 people who are passengers of public transport. The questionnaire contained 20 questions whose answers were developed in the form of charts and tables and their discussions. In addition, comparative data from a study carried out in 2016 by the Municipal Transport Authority in Lublin were added to some of the results. The elaboration of results allowed the assessment of the level of satisfaction among respondents, including proposed changes submitted by the respondents. They are a suggestion for the body dealing with the organization of public transport in the city, as well as for entities performing transport within it, regarding future projects improving the operation of public transport, thus satisfying the needs of potential passengers.

In the field of transport planning in the Czech Republic, there is increasing need not only for infrastructure planning, but also for public transport planning and creating operational concepts. Public transport, as well as investments and operationally intensive industries, requires a guaranteed long-term strategy in the field of transport services. The first prerequisite for successful transport planning is the most accurate description of passenger flows, including the parameters affecting the choice of transport mode. These inputs constitute an important basis for the following steps: setting up the line network, timetable design, managing the circulation of vehicles and courses of staff, controlling, and any eventual requests for infrastructure improvements. There are currently, in the Czech Republic, few transport models that provide relevant outputs for transport planning tasks in public services. For this reason, we use a variety of heuristics, one of which is described via a practical example, i.e., the transformation of a timetable concept on a selected rail network, including the effects resulting from a change in the number of passengers.

Quality has a fundamental influence to the services in passenger transport. The main objective of transport is to satisfy customers’ (passengers') requirements on the qualitative, flexible, fast and safe carriage of people and goods. Organisers of transport (public authority), providers of transport services and their customers have a different view on the perception of quality. This fact is influenced by unsystematic assessment to the quality measurement as well as by ignorance of the interaction of the transportation the peoples with the transport system. The paper is focussed on the quality evaluation of performance in regional passenger rail transport in relation to other modes of public transport. Hereby it is necessary to research the perception of quality services as well its value for the client (passenger) as well to on scientific approach. In this point of the technological process of transport, the main bearer of the quality of transport services are the vehicles and the transport infrastructure. Consequently it is needed to set a permanent process of quality evaluation of the provided transport services. The paper is based on the premise that the customer interests present the public ordering body (authority) of the public transportation services.
Die Qualität hat einen wesentlichen Einfluss auf die Dienstleistungen im Personenverkehr. Das Hauptziel der ÖPNV ist, die Anforderungen der Kunden an die qualitative, flexible, schnelle und sichere Beförderung zu befriedigen. Die Organisatoren des Verkehrs (die Verkehrsverbunden), Anbieter von Verkehrsdienstleistungen und deren Kunden haben einen anderen Blick auf die Wahrnehmung der Qualität. Diese Tatsache wird durch eine unsystematische Messung der Servicequalität sowie durch der Interaktion des Personenverkehr mit dem Transportsystem beeinflusst. Dieser Beitrag ist an die Schienenpersonenverkehr im Bezug auf andere Arten des öffentlichen Verkehrs gezielt. Hierbei ist es erforderlich, die Wahrnehmung der Qualität der Dienstleistungen als auch seinen Wert für den Kunden auf wissenschaftlichen Ansatz zu erforschen. In diesem Punkt des technologischen Prozess der Transport, die Hauptträger der Qualität der Verkehrsleistungen sind die Fahrzeuge und die Verkehrsinfrastruktur. Folglich ist es notwendig, einen permanenten Prozess der Bewertung der Qualität der angebotenen Verkehrsdienste festlegen. Der Beitrag basiert auf der Prämisse, dass die Interessen der Kunden die öffentliche Organisator der Verkehrssystem repräsentiert.
