Opis:
The power output of a PV system changes in time during the day and strongly depends on the location and orientation of the photovoltaic module as well as on seasonal conditions. Clouds occurring during a partly cloudy day are the reason why this data is very irregular and difficult to analyze in terms of obtaining energy. The Savitzky-Golay method was applied for the power output data obtained for sunny, cloudy and partly cloudy days in order to determine the average level of power produced by a PV system at a given location. The total amount of energy was analyzed for each case.

Ultrasonic power is the main variable that forms the basis for many soil disaggregation experiments. Thus, a procedure for the rapid determination of this variable has been developed and is described in this article. Calorimetric experiments serve to measure specific heat capacity and ultrasonic power. Ultrasonic power is determined experimentally for deionised water, 30% ethanol and sodium polytungstate with a density of 1.6 g cm-3 and 1.8 g cm-3. All experiments are performed with a pre-selected ultrasonic probe vibration amplitude. Under these conditions, it was found that the emitted ultrasonic power was comparable in the four fluids. It is suggested, however, to perform calibration experiments prior to dispersion experiments, since the used fluid, as well as the employed ultrasonic equipment, may influence the power output.

The use of inlet air fogging installation to boost the power for gas turbine engines is widely applied in the power generation sector. The application of fogging to mechanical drive is rarely considered in literature [1]. This paper will cover some considerations relating to its application for gas turbines in ship drive. There is an important evaporative cooling potential throughout the world, when the dynamic data is evaluated, based on an analysis of coincident wet and dry bulb information. This data will allow ships’ gas turbine operators to make an assessment of the economics of evaporative fogging. The paper represents an introduction to the methodology and data analysis to derive the direct evaporative cooling potential to be used in marine gas turbine power output loss compensation.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between somatotype, muscular strength, power output measured in maximal cycle ergometer exercise bouts, and maximal power output and height of rise of the body mass centre (jump height) measured in akimbo counter movement jump (ACMJ), counter movement jump (CMJ) and spike jump (SPJ), in male basketball players. Methods: Thirteen male basketball players (second division, age 19.4±0.8 years, body height 192.9±5.6 cm, body mass 88.8±8.6 kg, training experience 9.3±0.8 years) participated in the study. Somatotype was determined using the Heath-Carter method. Maximal joint torques were measured under static conditions. Power output was measured in 2 maximal cycle ergometer exercise bouts, 10 s each, with increasing external loads equal to 7.5 and 10.0% of the body weight (BW). All jump trials (ACMJ, CMJ and SPJ) were performed on a force plate. Results: The mean somatotype of basketball players amounted to: 2.8-4.2-3.2. Sum of the joint torques for left and right lower extremities (0.613), trunk (0.631) and all six measured muscle groups (0.647) were significantly correlated (p<0.05) with mesomorphy and ectomorphy. Conclusion: It can be assumed that basketball players’ anthropometric characteristics can influence their level of performance but it is not a decisive factor.

Non-uniform conditions on the modules of the PV array, especially, partial shading reduces the output of the PV array to a large extent. The shaded module in a string limits the current of the entire string and hence, the output power of the string. The output power under such conditions is reported to be higher for total-cross-tied (TCT) configuration. This paper describes two different approaches, one based on current compensation (current equalization) and another based on voltage equalization, to extract higher power from the partially shaded total-cross-tied photovoltaic array. The TCT configuration is considered to minimize the number of converters, sensors, cost and complexity involved. The additional converters in the two distinct approaches evaluated here operate only when the partial shading occurs and are controlled to minimize the current and voltage miss-matches. The analysis and the control algorithm are presented. Simulation results obtained in MATLAB/Simulink are included to demonstrate the effectiveness of both methods and the relative merits and demerits of these approaches are highlighted.

The purpose of this study was to determine short-term effect of complex training with inclusion of postactivation potentiation (PAP) on average power output (Pmax) and countermovement jump (CMJ) in competitive athletes. Sixteen athletes (age: 21.3±3.3 years, height: 178.9 ± 8.6 cm, weight: 74.8±9.9 kg) were pair-matched and randomly assigned into intervention (INT) (n=8), and control group (CON) (n=8). Over a training period of a 6-weeks with training frequency 2 days per week, the subjects underwent pre-, mid- (after 3 weeks), and post-testing (after 6 weeks) in CMJ and Pmax. Before the start of each training session EXP performed PAP protocol which consisted of 3 sets and 4 repetitions of half-squat jump exercise with individualized loads on (Pmax), whereas CON continued their normal complex training without the inclusion of PAP. Both groups significantly improved performance after 6 weeks of training. Novel findings of this study have shown that the INT which has been regularly performing PAP protocol before each training session achieved greater gains in Pmax (16.5 % vs. 4.9 %, p<0.01, from pre- to mid-training) and CMJ (15.4 % vs. 8.3 %, p<0.05, from pre- to post-training) compared to the CON. In conclusion, it seems that performing potentiating protocols before complex training sessions can potentially enhance motor performance in competitive athletes.

Photovoltaic Power Plants (PVPP) are classified as power energy sources with non-stabile supply of electric energy. It is necessary to back up power energy from PVPP for stabile electric network operation. We can set an optimal value of back up power energy with using a variety of prediction models and methods for PVPP Power output prediction. Fuzzy classi?ers and fuzzy rules can be informally defined as tools that use fuzzy sets or fuzzy logic for their operations. In this paper, we use genetic programming to evolve a fuzzy classi?er in the form of a fuzzy search expression to predict PVPP Power output.

The proposed technique is on dual axis solar tracking system based on fuzzy control. In this proposed research solar panel will move along horizontal as well as along vertical axis according to sun’s daily movement and also follow its seasonal change in axis; motion of the panel will be determined by the fuzzy controller. The proposed technique is such that solar panel actually follows the motion of sun to get maximum power. Problem is the percentage of useful solar energy because it varies with time. Variation in it occurs because as we know sun keeps on moving so its incident radiation is not perpendicular to panel’s surface all along the day. It has been observed that efficiency of solar panel is about 23% -25%. Generally, PV panels are fixed along one direction due to which as the sun moves, the angle of incident insolation varies, decreasing the amount of useful solar radiation and hence could not provide maximum power, there is need of a technique which can be used to solve out this problem.

The aim of this study was to identify the determinants of peak power achieved during vertical jumps in order to clarify relationship between the height of jump and the ability to exert maximum power. Methods: One hundred young (16.8±1.8 years) sportsmen participated in the study (body height 1.861 ± 0.109 m, body weight 80.3 ± 9.2 kg). Each participant performed three jump tests: countermovement jump (CMJ), akimbo countermovement jump (ACMJ), and spike jump (SPJ). A force plate was used to measure ground reaction force and to determine peak power output. The following explanatory variables were included in the model: jump height, body mass, and the lowering of the centre of mass before launch (countermovement depth). A model was created using multiple regression analysis and allometric scaling. Results: The model was used to calculate the expected power value for each participant, which correlated strongly with real values. The value of the coefficient of determination R2 equalled 0.89, 0.90 and 0.98, respectively, for the CMJ, ACMJ, and SPJ jumps. The countermovement depth proved to be a variable strongly affecting the maximum power of jump. If the countermovement depth remains constant, the relative peak power is a simple function of jump height. Conclusions: The results suggest that the jump height of an individual is an exact indicator of their ability to produce maximum power. The presented model has a potential to be utilized under field condition for estimating the maximum power output of vertical jumps.

Opis:
The paper presents mathematical modelling of determining the power output over the rolling materials in the gap rotating rollers taking into account the rheological parameters of the final product. Determination of these parameters will reduce energy consumption, increase efficiency and reduce loss of material during production. This solution, suggested in the article, allows determination of the overall quality of the rolled product layer. Analysis of experimental results revealed that the main features of the machine provide the necessary stable shape products and provide good rheological parameters of these products. Rheological testing indicators allow for a rational approach to a decision to operate a rolling process. At the same time they improve quality control methods and will have an impact on the design parameters of rollers and modes of chambers. The proposed method not only allows obtaining a predetermined pressure, but also allows defining the optimal shape of the gap, wherein the pressure gradient is constant.
Analiza wyników eksperymentalnych pozwoliła stwierdzić, że główne cechy maszyny, zapewniają niezbędny stabilny kształt produktów i zapewniają dobre parametry reologiczne tych produktów. Testowanie wskaźników reologicznych pozwalają na racjonalne podejście do decyzji o prowadzeniu procesu walcowania. Jednocześnie poprawią sposoby kontroli jakości i będą miały wpływ na parametry konstrukcji trybów rolek i komór roboczych. Opis:
In commercially available generation III and III+ PWR (pressurized water reactor) reactors, pressure of steam produced in steam generators varies in a relatively wide range from 5.7 to 7.8 MPa. Therefore, it is important to ask which value of steam pressure should be used for a specific unit, taking into account different location conditions, the size of the power system and conditions of operation with other sources of electricity generation. The paper analyzes the effect of steam pressure at the outlet of a steam generator on the performance of a PWR nuclear power plant by presenting changes in gross and net power and efficiency of the unit for steam pressures in the range of 6.8 to 7.8 MPa. In order to determine losses in the thermal system of the PWR power plant, in particular those caused by flow resistance and live steam throttling between the steam generator and the turbine inlet, results concerning entropy generation in the thermal system of the power plant have been presented. A model of a nuclear power plant was developed using the Ebsilon software and validated based on data concerning the Olkiluoto Unit 3 EPR (evolutionary power reactor) power plant. The calculations in the model were done for design conditions and for a constant thermal power of the steam generator. Under nominal conditions of the Olkiluoto Unit 3 EPR power unit, steam pressure is about 7.8 MPa and the steam dryness fraction is 0.997. The analysis indicates that in the assumed range of live steam pressure the gross power output and efficiency increase by 32 MW and 0.735 percentage point, respectively, and the net power output and efficiency increase by 27.8 MW and 0.638 percentage point, respectively. In the case of all types of commercially available PWR reactors, water pressure in the primary circuit is in the range of 15.5−16.0 MPa. For such pressure, reducing the live steam pressure leads to a reduction in the efficiency of the unit. Although a higher steam pressure increases the efficiency of the system, it is necessary to take into account the limitations resulting from technical and economic criteria as well as operating conditions of the primary circuit, including the necessary DNBR (departure from nucleate boiling ratio) margin. For the above reasons, increasing the live steam pressure above 7.8 MPa (the value used in EPR units that have already been completed) is unjustified, as it is associated with higher costs of the steam generator and the high-pressure part of the turbine.

Liquid Phase Exfoliation (LPE) is a common route to produce two-dimensional MoS2 nanosheets. In this research, MoS2 powder is exfoliated by an ultrasonic probe (sonicator) in a water-ethanol solution. It is reported that MoS2 as a prototype 2D Transition Metal Dichalcogenide, has a band gap that increases with a decreasing number of layers. There are some factors that affect the average band gap energy value and the thickness of the exfoliated flakes. We varied different parameters of the ultrasonic probe like power, pulse percentage and time duration of sonication to investigate the effects on the number of MoS2 layers. Our findings from the UV-Visible spectra, SEM, FESEM and TEM images indicate that the minimum thickness for these samples was acquired at 50% of the input power of the sonicator we used (∼65 W) and the optimum pulse percentage is 50%. The current study also found that the average amount of band gap increased with an increase in sonication time, and then remained unchanged after 60 minutes.

A Stirling cycle was developed by Rallis considering the adiabatic behaviour instead of isothermal behaviour of working fluid inside the expansion/compression volume, since the isothermal processes are very difficult to be realised in actual practice due to irreversibilities. In order to increase the performance of Rallis Stirling cycle engine, two modified versions of Rallis Stirling cycle engine model have been proposed and developed, called as Rallis modified Stirling cycle engine (RMSE). In this paper, the thermodynamic analysis of the developed models have been carried out and the simulated results are compared with the Rallis ideal model of Stirling cycle engine, as this model describes more accurately the thermodynamic cycle of practical Stirling machines. The results reveal the fact that the thermal efficiency of RMSE I model is enhanced by 38.06% and that of RMSE II model by 48.42%, whereas the power output is increased by 58.05% and 78.19% in case of RMSE I and RMSE II model respectively, when compared with the Rallis ideal adiabatic model of Stirling engine.
