Opis:
Gaseous emissions during thermal animal waste treatment in a meat production plant have been determined. A dry flue gas system with a multisectional bag filter was installed at a meat production plant. Animal waste was incinerated in a rotary kiln, the capacity of the plant was 700 kg/h. The average thirty-minute (1352 samples) emission values of volatile dust, total organic carbon (TOC), hydrogen chloride (HCl), hydrogen fluoride (HF), sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxide (NO), nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and carbon oxide (CO) were obtained during a study period of 1 month. Specific samples were collected to determine dioxin, furane, heavy metal, mercury, cadmium and thallium concentrations. Histograms of the obtained results were prepared, and the results were compared with the permissible emission levels defined by the European Union. Additionally, justification was provided when the observed values exceeded the levels defined by the European Union.

The development of industry and municipal infrastructure is a cause of increased emissions of malodorous substances into the atmosphere. These substances have a negative impact on human health and the environment. To protect the natural environment and human health, innovative methods of reducing emissions to the atmosphere are sought. These methods should be part of sustainable development principles. The work was carried out to assess the effectiveness of biofiltration in the reduction of odorous gas concentrations based on the measurements of biofilter efficiency in a sewage treatment plant. A mathematical simulation of the pollutant emission range in the environment was made to verify its change resulting from the use of a biofilter.

This article aims to examine the emission of pollutants utilising transport in different points of the city in question at two different intervals, then show whether the means of transport negatively affects the city through pollution. The study of air pollutant emissions from transport sources is a key aspect towards solving problems related to environmental pollution. A study on the measurements of selected PM10 and PM2.5 pollutants to be able to determine the quality of air from transport sources in Pila at different times of the year and with appropriate assumptions regarding the appropriate distance by the road is included in this article. This study analysed data on air pollutants and compared it with the results of the Chief Inspectorate for Environmental Protection. This made it possible to propose solutions for the development of the air condition in Pila.

The paper presents a complex analysis of the presence of various pollutants (CO2, CO, NO, NO2, CH4, TNMH, C6H6) in the vicinity of sites intended for open burning and open detonation of explosives. Previously obtained data (measured field data on a representative sample) regarding the emission factors of pollutants originating from different types of explosives have been used. To predict the atmospheric dispersion of reactive agents, the ADORA and ALOHA models were used. Comparative analysis was performed with computational and experimental data on the emission of detonation products using regression analysis of the obtained emission coefficients. The overall results show satisfactory values of correlation coefficients. The prediction power of used methods increased as follows: ADORA (the smallest error), ALOHA E/A (0.43) and ALOHA E/A 0.67.

The road pollutant emissions, above all in urban context, are correlated to many infrastructural parameters and to traffic intensity and typology. The research work on road junction geometry, carried out in European research centres, has recently allowed to design new road intersection types which are of undoubted interest, especially in terms of traffic functionality and safety, like the flower roundabouts (in which right-turn manoeuvres do not conflict with the circulating flow). The main objective of this paper is to propose a model for the estimation the capacity, delay, levels of service and the pollutant emissions into flower roundabouts. A comparative analysis between conventional roundabout and flower roundabout has been carried out in terms of CO, CO2, CH4, NO, PM2,5 and PM10 vehicular emissions, evaluated by mean of COPERT Software which is developed as a European tool for the calculation of emissions from the road transport sector.

The paper describes the initial part of the research into the impact of the Port of Split marine traffic on the environment and the city. The Port of Split is situated in the middle of the Adriatic Sea and it is one of busiest marine traffic regions in the Mediterranean. The Port consists of six geographically separated basins, two of them for smaller vessels, other four for the international marine traffic. The paper presents type and size of vessels in basins, engine size, stay in Port and finally quantity of the international marine traffic air pollutant emission per each basin. The distribution of the international marine traffic and its air pollutant emission pinpoint exactly main sources of the emissions in the area around the city and its dependency on various factors linked to the vessels, showing that the city is encircled by with multiple pollution sources.

The article discusses issues related to the assessment of pollutant emissions from a railbus during transport work. The test object was a rail vehicle equipped with two diesel engines with a total power of 780 kW, Stage IIIB homologated. Measurements were carried out on the route Poznań-Wągrowiec in two directions. During the tests, the vehicle performed a transport service, where the number of passengers was counted. For the completed cycles, the average number of people was 82 and 18. Based on the obtained data, the vehicle operating conditions and emission indicators were analyzed, which were related to the number of passengers. A dimensionless toxicity index was also determined.

In Poland, the number of vehicles owned per capita is systematically increasing. There is also a noticeable increase in traffic in large urban agglomerations. This creates a number of problems, such as difficulties in finding a parking spot. Then it becomes necessary to search for a long time to stop, which is correlated with higher emission of harmful substances and energy consumption. The aim of the work is a multi-criteria analysis of the selection of a parking spot at a shopping center focused on travel times, pollutant emissions and fuel consumption. In addition, consideration was given to the selection of the optimal parking spot. The tests were carried out in Real Driving Conditions similar to Real Driving Emissions testing. The procedure, currently used as an extension of the type-approval tests, reflects the actual exhaust emissions from vehicles more accurately than tests under laboratory conditions. Specialized PEMS (Portable Emissions Measurement System) apparatus was used for the measurements.

One of the main objectives of the European transport policy is to increase the share of alternative modes of transport – revitalization of rail transport, promotion of water transport and development of intermodal transport, which will help to reduce the dominance of road transport. The adverse impact of transport can be felt both in the natural environment and in society, where the dynamic development of this sector has enabled significant civilization development, with the effects varying depending on the level of economic development, the degree of advancement and use of the various transport sectors, geographical location (including climate), and also the sensitivity of the elements of the environment. Considering contemporary transport hazards, it is important to prevent them from occurring, and when that is not possible – limiting their impact on the environment and reducing the scale and extent of negative impacts. The impact of rail transport on the environment and safety is much lower compared to road transport. The impact of rail transport on the environment mainly comes from the emission of noise and vibration, pollution (from diesel locomotives) and land occupation. The article presents information on the current legal conditions regarding the emission of pollutants from rail vehicles. Information with reference to research tests and emission limit values was included. The subject of tests in real traffic conditions was also mentioned as the direction of changes in vehicle homologation tests.

The Polish Energy Sector is one of the most difficult lines of business because among other things, of the existing legal provisions, and standards relating to pollutant emissions. In the coming years, in the Polish Energy Sector breakthrough changes related to develop the energy facilities and with respect to the environmental protection will have to be introduced. During the generation of electricity harmful residues are produced, which are counteracted by equipment designed for flue gas cleaning. The test procedure for the pollutant emissions from light-duty vehicles is currently under verification carried out at the international level. For this purpose, GRPE (Groupe des rapporteurs sur la pollution et energie) – the body developing UNECE regulations proposals - has set up a task group WLTP (Worldwide harmonized Light vehicles Test Procedure) which is supposed to prepare a new GTR (Global Technical Regulation) relating to this procedure. The development of light-duty vehicles, leading to the reduction of pollutants emissions, caused the increase of the requirements for their test procedure. A large number of factors associated, inter alia, with the test equipment affects its accuracy, repeatability and reproducibility. In the ongoing analysis attention is paid even to factors, which affect test results in a relatively small way, and which have been overlooked yet. One of the problems to which attention is paid is the impact of pollutant concentration in the dilution air in the CVS (constant volume sampler) system on test results. The CVS principle is accepted as the standard method to determine light-duty vehicle exhaust emissions on chassis dynamometer test cells worldwide. It was introduced in the early 1970s. One of its drawbacks is that it introduces an error resulting from the fact that the contractual DF dilution factor, rather than the actual dilution ratio DR, is used for the correction of concentration measurement results. The article discusses this error for different type of engines used in light-duty vehicles and different pollutants subject to measurements.

The use of motor vehicles varies considerably under distinct traffic conditions: in cities, outside cities as well as on motor-ways and expressways. The impact of road traffic on the natural environment has been studied for many years, including in terms of the nature of the operation of motor vehicles. This problem is particularly important in highly urbanized areas, where traffic congestion is the source of increased emissions of harmful compounds contained in exhaust gases. For this reason, many cities have traffic restrictions, especially for those cars that do not meet the most stringent emission standards. Environmental protection is the driving force behind the development of modern combustion engine supply systems, which allow for proper control of the combustion of petroleum-derived fuels. The exhaust gas cleaning systems in the form of catalytic converters or particulate matter filters are also playing a very important role. Considerable differences in internal combustion engine operating states, both static and dynamic, result in important differences in pollutant emissions. Likewise, the national annual pollutant emission is affected by the share of distances travelled by vehicles under various traffic conditions. At the same time, it is very difficult to estimate exhaust emissions from road transport sources. Very interesting method of emission estimation is the application of the data included in the emission inventory which are a valuable source of information on exhaust emissions under various operating conditions. In the present study, the annual pollutant emissions were analyzed: at a national level (total pollutant emission) and in distinct traffic conditions. There were found large differences between individual pollutants’ shares in the emissions from vehicles under the tested traffic conditions. This is particularly evident for nitrogen oxides with the highest emission share outside cities, as opposed to other substances with the highest emission shares in cities, where traffic congestion is taking place.

The subject of the article is the study of pollutant emissions from automotive combustion engines that operate in conditions corresponding to the actual use of vehicles. Includes information on the properties of exhaust gas parameters characterizing the following features: energy, economic, environmental impact and serviceability, additional and constant. Reference was also made to the possibility of determining driving tests on the basis of the similarity of the frequency characteristics of the speed processes in both driving tests and in the real use of vehicles. The article presents the results of research on pollutant emissions from a passenger car during the RDE test. The emission of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides, particulate matter and carbon dioxide, as well as the number of particulate matter, were examined. The process of pollutant emission intensity and particle number intensity was presented. Tests were carried out on the statistical properties of the car speed, the intensity of pollutant emissions, and the intensity of the number of particulate matter. Correlation studies were carried out on the speed of the vehicle, the intensity of pollutant emissions, and the intensity of the number of particulate matter.

Reduction of pollutant emission by exhaust systems due to stricter limits has drastically increased the impact of previously ignored factors on the results of emission tests. One such factor is the cooling of the engine by the chassis dynamometer's external fan. Improper cooling can increase the temperature of the engine and the catalytic converter. Preliminary studies conducted by the Motor Transport Institute have confirmed that the configuration of the cooling fan influences exhaust system emissions. This article discusses the results of tests aimed at identifying the cause of changes in emission levels. To achieve this aim, emission levels were measured for various configurations of the chassis dynamometer (including both the fan speed and the distance from the front of the vehicle). During the tests, measurements were taken of temporary pollutant levels in the CVS and of the temperature of exhaust before and after the catalytic converter. The results confirmed the findings of preliminary tests. Increased exhaust emission levels were noted, though not, as anticipated, during the urban driving cycle, but rather during the final phase of the extra-urban driving cycle. Measurements were taken using a single-roller chassis dynamometer equipped with a cooling fan with a regulated fan speed specified by a second-degree curve.

The paper highlights the need to adjust medium-sized combustion plants to the requirements of EU Directive 2015/2193 on the limitation of emissions. The results so far are presentations of reducing emissions of sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and dust in Poland. The Directive’s detailed guidelines are provided for existing and newly built combustion plants. Also analysed are actions to reduce pollutant emissions and the expected impact of new regulations on energy facilities in Poland.
W artykule zwrócono uwagę na konieczność dostosowania średnich obiektów spalania do wymogów Dyrektywy UE 2015/2193 w sprawie ograniczenia emisji zanieczyszczeń. Przedstawiono dotychczasowe wyniki w ograniczaniu emisji dwutlenku siarki, tlenków azotu oraz pyłów w Polsce. Podano szczegółowe wytyczne dyrektywy dotyczące obiektów energetycznych istniejących i nowo budowanych. Ponadto przeanalizowano działania ograniczające emisję zanieczyszczeń oraz spodziewany wpływ nowych przepisów na obiekty energetyczne w naszym kraju.
