Opis:
In this article, we make some brief remarks on overt and covert movement in logical grammar. With respect to covert movement (e.g. quantification), we observe how a treatment in terms of displacement calculus interacts with normal modalities for intensionality to allow a coding in logical grammar of the distinction between weak and strong quantifiers (i.e. those that may or may not scope nonlocally such as a and every respectively). With respect to overt movement (e.g. relativisation), we observe how displacement calculus can support a coding of a linear filler-gap dependency similar to that employed in lambda grammars, but we argue that this general approach does not extend to either the multiplicity nor the island-sensitivity of parasitic gaps, for which we advocate instead treatment in terms of a bracketconditioned contraction subexponential.

After 200 years of bondage, India gained freedom from the British through numerous revolutionary movements in 1947. But, within 20 years of the independence, insurgent movements had started arising against the Indian Government as well. In 1967, the Naxalite insurgency was initiated as a radical protest by the oppressed peasants against the colonial tenancy system retained by the feudal landowners even after the British had left the country for good. The uprising got pinpointed as Naxalism and the rebels as Naxals, as it all started at Naxalbari, a village in the Indian state of West Bengal. Spanning over 50 years, this ongoing movement initially acquired the respect of the general population of India with its radical ideologies of fighting against the oppressor imperialists but soon mutated into a source of terror. A qualitative assessment of the instances taken from secondary sources, such as context-related online journals and blog articles, will help this paper to explain the formation of the contemporary perception of Naxalism as an extreme radical armed revolution and one of the biggest security challenges against the Indian Government.

Opis:
This article is an attempt to link the attributes of “Solidarity” with the movement’s place in the theory of social movements. The evolutionary paradigm has left a gap with respect to selection and systematisation of these movements. The historical approach must be adopted in order to fill in this gap. It is therefore necessary to focus on “Solidarity” as a special case in the context of the history of nation, within the framework of the totalitarian macro-formation produced by the solutions adopted after World War II. “Solidarity’s” contribution was not limited to one country only. It also helped to trigger more general transformation and globalisation processes. The rationality of “Solidarity” is rooted in systemic contingencies which required the development of an effectivemethod-sit-in strikes-but also negotiations with the regime. However, the democratic culture rooted in national tradition was the decisive factor. In the West, the state was already being viewed as an obsolete form, whereas the lesson which was learned from the Polish experience was that the sovereign state is essential for reform and modernisation. The validity of this lesson was confirmed in practice. The author argues that “Solidarity” did not fit into the schematic distinction between “old” and “new” movements. Class interests were not a priority, neither were the interests of minorities, as they are in the West.

The paper presents some problems of movement scheduling for many objects to synchronize their movement. Two categories of criteria for synchronous movement of K objects are defined: time of movement and "distance" of moved objects from a movement pattern. Some extensions of main problem are presented and formulated as optimization problems. Similarities and differences between defined problems and classical tasks scheduling problem on parallel processors are discussed. Two algorithms for synchronous movement scheduling are proposed and their properties are shown.
W artykule zaprezentowano wybrane problemy harmonogramowania przemieszczania wielu obiektów, aby synchronizować ich przemieszczanie. Zaproponowano dwie kategorie kryteriów synchronicznego przemieszczania K obiektów: czas przemieszczania i "odległość" przemieszczanych obiektów od pewnego wzorca przemieszczania. Zdefiniowano pewne rozszerzenia problemu podstawowego i sformułowano je w postaci zadań optymalizacji. Opisano podobieństwa i różnice między definiowanymi problemami, a klasycznym problemem harmonogramowania zadań na równoległych procesorach. Zaprezentowano dwa algorytmy planowania zsynchronizowanego przemieszczania wielu obiektów rozwiązujące sformułowane problemy optymalizacyjne oraz przedyskutowano ich własności.

Opis:
Due to safety reasons, the movement of ships on the sea, especially near the coast should be tracked, recorded and stored. However, the amount of vessels which trajectories should be tracked by authorized institutions, often in real time, is usually huge. What is more, many sources of vessels position data (radars, AIS) produces thousands of records describing route of each tracked object, but lots of that records are correlated due to limited dynamic of motion of ships which cannot change their speed and direction very quickly. In this situation it must be considered how many points of recorded trajectories really have to be remembered to recall the path of particular object. In this paper, authors propose three different methods for ship movement prediction, which explicitly decrease the amount of stored data. They also propose procedures which enable to reduce the number of transmitted data from observatory points to database, what may significantly reduce required bandwidth of radio communication in case of mobile observatory points, for example onboard radars.

Sedimentation of nanoparticles in water solutions was studied in situ by transmission Mössbauer spectroscopy in horizontal and vertical geometry. The studied specimens were Fe2O3 of a commercial pigment and metallic iron nanoparticles in slurry used in a water purification technology. The sedimentation is selective and leads to the gradual removing of the bigger particles from a solution. The iron nanoparticles in the solution are relatively chemically stable until, due to the drying, the sediment becomes exposed to the air.

The paper presents a prototype of a new input–output device which is a constructed scanner of human upper limb movement which, together with the software layer, creates a new user interface of CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machine tools. The constructed scanner contains a sensory system based on acceleration sensors and gyroscopes which are distributed within the key areas on the human upper limb. On the basis of the signals registered during the movement of operator's upper limbs, basing on the solution of a simple kinematics model, it is possible to determine the location and orientation of operator’s hands. A combination of the developed technology with ready solutions of gloves scanning movements of fingers and hands provides a new intuitive input-output device for the communication with the machine.

Opis:
The article concerns the issue of experiencing spatial music. While discussing movement and space in music, Bohdan Pociej draws attention to two types of spatiality in a music work: the ‘internal’ and ‘external’ spatiality. The former derives from the nature of the sound material and the interaction of elements; it remains in the sphere of impressions and metaphors. The latter involves the physical parameters and actual performance of the piece. I demonstrate that the works of twentieth-century composers tend to break through from the internal space, transforming it into the external one. The issue of the body as a centre is present in the works of Edmund Husserl, Yi-Fu Tuan, Edward Hall, and others. The metaphor of movement in language and music has become the subject of research in cognitive science. In the context of spatial music, the metaphorical level coexists with the physical level. During the performance of a composition, listeners may enter into various relations with sound sources but always locate them with reference to their own bodies, which they treat as the centre. The two basic types of external spatiality – the perspective of the observer and the perspective of the participant – correspond to the two ways of understanding the metaphor of movement in music (internal spatiality) proposed by Steve Larson and Mark Johnson.

Opis:
This study examines the framing of the social movement in Iran launched on 29 December 2017, by analyzing the news texts of six national Turkish newspapers. It discusses the movement in the context of news framing, focusing on problem definition, causal interpretation, moral evaluation, and treatment recommendation. The findings suggest that each newspaper has reported the social movement in Iran quite differently. The most obvious difference is that the left-wing, anti-government press mainly explained the events in terms of political, economic, and social factors while the right-wing, pro-government press attributed the events to ‘foreign forces’ and reflected the dominant discourse of political power while framing the news. Thus, the way Turkish newspapers frame a social movement outside the country reveals the intense polarization in the Turkish press.

Opis:
Transition curves are an integral part of a route. They connect a straight section with a circular curve or two circular curves with different radii. Due to the forced path, the size and stiffness of the rail vehicle, their correct design is particularly important when constructing rail roads. Basing on the limits of lateral acceleration increment, non-equilibrium centripetal acceleration and wheel lift velocity, set in accordance with the model of motion of a material point moving along a trajectory determined by the track axis, the initial parameters of the considered transition curves were selected: radius of the curve, design speed of the train, length of the transition curve and track cant. The scope of research covered basic dynamic parameters: curvature and its increment, speed and acceleration of wheel lift, track twist and lateral acceleration increment. As a result of conducted analysis it can be stated that polynomial curves deserve special attention in the design of railway routes. By appropriate modification of their equation, it is possible to change easily positions of extremes of particular dynamic parameters and thus to adjust their values to terrain conditions, direction of movement and type of rail vehicle.
