Opis:
The authors focus on the current differentiation of the world and on its cognitive, application and educational frameworks and importance for the present. Macro-regional differentiation of the world has resulted from geographic concepts and it is a foundation for understanding the global development of society. This article evaluates the specific concepts and factors that form concepts of world macro-regions prepared by famous authors. It also presents a methodological approach for macro-regional forming of the world. After a theoretical and methodological introduction there is a discussion of the differentiation of the world entitled “Macroregional differentiation of the world - formation and application.ˮ The authors also present their conception of world differentiation and evaluation of the creation macro-regions and their positive and negative influence of the macro-regional differentiation of the world.

Opis:
European integration is obviously impeded by the national and nation-state idea that is still vigorous and motivates European Union (EU) member states' refusals to cede powers to the EU or subnational levels. Recent events like the global economic crisis, the Euro crisis, the migration crisis and the coronavirus pandemic have, however, demonstrated that it is not just the national idea and the nation state that appear to seriously hinder further integration, but that fundamental diferences in cultural attitudes in diferent parts of Europe are also responsible. They can be traced back to earlier periods of history and a Europe that consisted of parts with very divergent economic, social and political attitudes. These disparities are dificult to equalize. The article highlights Europe's major cultural diferentiation processes in history, hints at their current traces in economic, social and political attitudes and relates those attitudes to problems in European integration.

Opis:
The war initiated by the Russian Federation against Ukraine in 2022 can be seen as a drastic shock event with unpredictable long-term socio-political consequences at the national, regional and global levels. This study aims to identify the impact of war-related disturbances on the dynamics of social cleavages in Ukraine, in particular the possibility of deepening or diminishing such cleavages or promoting the occurrence of new ones. For decades, the internal partition of Ukraine into East and West has been attributed to national self-identification, linguistic and religious peculiarities and the geopolitical preferences of residents of different regions. Shortly before and after the outbreak of the Russian invasion, fundamental changes in Ukrainian society and domestic politics became evident, some of which can be interpreted as signs of the mitigation of social cleavages. Our findings revealed at least two significant shifts in these ‘old’, traditional cleavages: one occurred after the Revolution of Dignity and the annexation of Crimea by Russia in 2014, and the second one is emerging now, due to the full-scale war on Ukrainian territory against the Ukrainian people. More broadly, this research aims to assess the resilience of social cleavages in the face of a shock event.

Opis:
This article is a continuation of the same authors' study entitled 'Concepts And Delimitation Of The World's Macro-Regions' prepared for the 1/2018 of this journal (Anděl et al. 2018). The main aim of the first part was an evaluation of the concepts and factors which have been used as a basis for the delimitation of the different macro-regions of the world. In this second part, the authors propose their own macro-regionalisation of the world this is a combination of four concepts, with relatively different contents: those of De Blij and Muller (1997), Cole (1996), Huntington (1996) and Hampl (2009). This macro-regionalisation arises from sociocultural affiliation, economic interrelationships and territorial continuity. Along with the concept of the macro-regional differentiation of the world itself, we focus on evaluating the importance of the shaping of macro-regions, as well as assessing the positive and negative features of individual concepts and their influence on the macro-regional differentiation of the world.

Opis:
The main objective of this paper is to identify the differentiation of factors determining the variability of milk production in the European Union macro-regions with a predominance of intensive and extensive production. Classification of regions is based on the analysis of the diversity of dairy farms FADN in the regions of the European Union, which was determined by the agglomeration cluster analysis using Ward method. In order to highlight the determinants of production factor analysis was performed. On the basis of the results, there were factors that have a decisive impact on milk production in dairy farms from regions with a predominance of intensive and extensive production model identified.
Głównym celem rozważań była identyfikacja czynników warunkujących zmienność produkcji mleka w 2011 roku w makroregionach Unii Europejskiej z przewagą produkcji intensywnej i ekstensywnej.

Opis:
The abundance of the eel (Anguilla anguilla) in Europe has been on the decline in recent years, to the extent that this fish species is now considered to be threatened with extinction. Hence, the current implementation of the Eel Management Plan in Poland, whose aim is to restore w stocks of this fish. The main natural habitats of eel are the transitional waters of the Vistula and Szczecin lagoons and lakes in northern Poland. The eel is highly valued by many consumers for the taste and texture of its meat. The aim of the study was to determine differences in concentrations of macro- and microelements and toxic metals in muscles of the eel as a function of each specimen’s length, mass and the origin. The results of the study also served an evaluation of the health benefits and risks to consumers of eel meat with regard to the content of macro- and microelements and toxic metals. Specimens of the eel (Anguilla anguilla) were caught in 2011-2013, in five regions of Poland: the southern Baltic, inland lakes in northeast Poland, the Vistula and Szczecin lagoons, and in the Vistula River. The concentrations of Ca, P, Mg, Na, K, Fe, Sr, Zn and As were determined with optical emission spectrometry. The flameless atomic absorption spectrometry method was used to measure concentrations of Cu, Cd and Pb. The content of Hg and Se were determined with atomic absorption, those of mercury with cold vapour, and of selenium with hydride generation. The concentrations of macro- and microelements in most instances, with the exception of P and Zn, were negatively correlated with the eel’s length and mass, which indicated that small fish contained more minerals than large specimens. The eel is a rich source of phosphorus, zinc, selenium and iron, and it can supply significant quantities of the daily requirements of human consumers for these minerals. The other minerals occurred in eel muscle at levels that ranged from 2 to 6% of human daily requirements. Among the toxic metals, mercury was the cause for concern, while cadmium and lead occurred at low levels in all of the specimens examined regardless of their size. The mean concentration of mercury ranged from 0.147 to 0.273 mg kg-1 and was positively correlated with specimen length and mass. The content of mercury in large eel exceeded 0.500 mg kg-1, while small eel (up to 70 cm) contained lower levels of mercury. Large eel exceeding 70 cm can pose a threat to the consumer’s health because of mercury, and especially its organic from of methylmercury. This is why consumers should limit long-term consumption of larger eel, while it is safe to consume smaller specimens since they contain less mercury and more minerals than do large eel.
