To increase their competitive advantage in turbulent marketplaces, contemporary manufacturers must show determination in seeking ways to: fulfill buyer orders with quality merchandise; meet deadlines; handle unexpected production disruptions; and lower the total relevant expense. To tackle the abovementioned challenges, this study explores an economic manufacturing quantity (EMQ) model with machine failure, overtime, and rework/disposal of nonconforming items; the goal is to find the best fabrication uptime that minimizes total relevant expenses. Specifically, we consider a production unit with overtime capacity as an operational feature that is linked to higher unit and setup costs. Further, its EMQ-based process is subject to random nonconforming items and failure rates. Extra screening separates the reworkable nonconforming items from scrap, and the rework is executed at the end of each cycle of regular fabrication. The failures follow a Poisson distribution, and a machine repair task starts as soon as a failure occurs; the fabrication of the lot that was interrupted resumes after the repair has been carried out. A decision model is built to capture the characteristics of the problem. Mathematical and optimization processes help in determining the optimal fabrication uptime. A numerical example not only illustrates the applicability of the research outcomes, but also reveals a diverse set of information about the individual or joint influences of deviations in mean-time-to-failure, overtime factors, and rework/disposal ratios linked to nonconforming rates related to the optimal replenishment uptime, total operating expenses, and various cost contributors; this facilitates better decision making.

Rescheduling is the guarantee to maintain the reliable operation of production system process. In production system, the original scheduling scheme cannot be carried out when machine breaks down. It is necessary to transfer the production tasks in the failure cycle and replan the production path to ensure that the production tasks are completed on time and maintain the stability of production system. To address this issue, in this paper, we studied the event-driven rescheduling policy in dynamic environment, and established the usage rules of right-shift rescheduling and complete rescheduling based on the type of interference events. And then, we proposed the rescheduling decision method based on genetic algorithm for solving flexible job shop scheduling problem with machine fault interference. In addition, we extended the "mk" series of instances by introducing the machine fault interference information. The solution data show that the complete rescheduling method can respond effectively to the rescheduling of flexible job shop scheduling problem with machine failure interference.

Due to frequent failures of machine elements, international organizations dealing with the safety at sea and shipowners alike are interested in the introduction of available diagnostic methods as well as the development of new ones. In the case of a machine set such as the electric motor - working machine, vibroacoustic methods based on vibration and acoustic emission measurements on bearing casings give promising results. Most problems are encountered when such machine sets are to be diagnosed, where one of the machines features a piston-crank mechanism. We can identify the conditions of crosshead thrust bearing and the piston - piston rod connection. Wider possibilities exist when it comes to the condition identification of elements in methods using longitudinal and torsional vibrations of the crankshaft free end. In this case it is possible to monitor the condition of crank bearings, main bearings and the alignment of the crankshaft.
Ze względu na częste uszkodzenia elementów urządzeń, organizacja międzynarodowa zajmująca się bezpieczeństwem na morzu oraz armatorzy zainteresowani są wprowadzaniem dostępnych i rozwojem nowych metod diagnozowania. W przypadku pary maszyn silnik elektryczny - maszyna robocza obiecujące wyniki daje stosowanie metod wibroakustycznych bazujących na pomiarach drgań i emisji akustycznej na obudowach łożysk. Najwięcej problemów stwarza diagnozowanie zespołów, gdzie jedna z maszyn jest maszyną z mechanizmem tłokowo-korbowym. Możliwa jest identyfikacja stanu łożyska wzdłużnego wodzika i stanu połączenia tłoka z trzonem tłokowym. Dużo większe możliwości identyfikacji stanu elementów kryją się w metodach wykorzystujących drgania wzdłużne i skrętne wolnego końca wału korbowego. Możliwa jest identyfikacja stanu łożysk korbowych, łożysk ramowych i ułożenia wału korbowego.

In this paper, a dynamic preventive maintenance strategy is proposed for the problem of high maintenance cost rate due to excessive maintenance caused by unreasonable maintenance threshold setting when complex electromechanical equipment maintenance strategy is formulated. Increasing failure rate factor and decreasing service age factor are introduced to describe the evolution rules of failure rate during the maintenance of the coating machine, and the BP-LSTM (BP-Long Short Term Memory Network, BP-LSTM) model is combined to predict the failure rate of the coating machine. A Dynamic preventive maintenance Model (DM) that relies on dynamic failure rate thresholds to classify the three preventive maintenance modes of minor, medium and major repairs is constructed. A dynamic preventive maintenance strategy optimization process based on Genetic-Particle Swarm Optimization (GPSO) algorithm with the lowest cost rate per unit time in service phase is built to solve the difficult problem of dynamic failure rate threshold finding. Based on the historical operating data of the coating machine, a case study of the dynamic preventive maintenance strategy of the coating machine was conducted to verify the effectiveness of the model and the developed maintenance strategy proposed in this paper. The results show that the maintenance strategy developed in this paper can ensure better economy and applicability.

Damage to the rotor constitute approximately 10% of all damage of the electrical machines. Diagnosis should be focused on those failures, that occur most frequent or are the most destructive or expensive. The article de-scribes an interesting case of electrical motors damages. These electrical motors were used for propulsion of railway vehicles and measurements were taken during normal operation of the train. In this article the sample results of the measurements are presented. Measurements and registrations held remotely using telemetry devices, which concept was developed by authors of this article.
Uszkodzenia wirnika stanowią około 10% wszystkich uszkodzeń maszyn elektrycznych. Diagnostyka powinna się skupiać na tych uszkodzeniach, które występują najczęściej i które są najbardziej destrukcyjne i kosztowne. Artykuł opisuje interesujący uszkodzeń maszyn elektrycznych. Opisane maszyny są wykorzystywane jako napęd pociągu, natomiast pomiary były przeprowadzone w czasie normalnej eksploatacji pojazdu. Pomiary oraz rejestracje przeprowadzono przy użyciu urządzenia telemetrycznego, którego koncepcję opracowali autorzy pracy. Przedstawiono strukturę i zastosowanie urządzenia.

During execution of a schedule some uncertain events may take place for example: resources may become unavailable, machine can be broken. Uncertainty should be included in the process of job scheduling. In the paper the problem to generate a workable, proactive baseline schedule under production constraints and unexpected event occurrence conditions is considered. The proactive baseline schedule protects against anticipated occurrences that may appear during the schedule execution. The machine breaking time is searched and the information is used to generate a robust schedule. In the paper the method of data acquisition basing on probability theory is proposed. The time of machine breaking is acquired from historical data of frequency of machine failure. A numerical example of building a hypothesis H:{the cumulative distribution function of the failure time is a normal distribution}, verification of the hypothesis, and predictive scheduling is presented. The normal distribution is proposed to describe failure time of machine as it gives consideration to a gradual wear process of the machine. The paper is proposition of improving simulation systems such as the Enterprise Dynamics or Taylor and scheduling systems such as Knowledge based Rescheduling System and Multi Objective Immune Scheduling Algorithm.

In this study, firstly, the behavior of a high steel frame equipped with tuned mass damper (TMD) due to several seismic records is investigated considering the structural and seismic uncertainties. Then, machine learning methods including artificial neural networks (ANN), decision tree (DT), Naïve Bayes (NB) and support vector machines (SVM) are used to predict the behavior of the structure. Results showed that among the machine learning models, SVM with Gaussian kernel has better performance since it is capable of predicting the drift of stories and the failure probability with R2 value equal to 0.99. Furthermore, results of feature selection algorithms revealed that when using TMD in high steel structures, seismic uncertainties have greater influences on drift of stories in comparison with structural uncertainties. Findings of this study can be used in design and probabilistic analysis of high steel frames equipped with TMDs.

Machine failures in each production system cause an increase in costs and delays in order execution. Therefore, companies decide to introduce solutions that detect and immediately remove worrying symptoms before more serious consequences occur. Unfortunately, not all failures can be avoided – in such cases, the most important thing is the quick reaction of machine operators, maintenance and production managers. This paper identifies reliability indicators and presents the steps and effects of implementing selected KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), which aim at the production process. For the machines in which a failure occurred in the surveyed period, technical availability, Mean Times Between Failures (MTBF), Mean Down Time (MDT), technical object readiness, and the downtime coefficient were calculated.

Opis:
A method of failure detection in telecommunication networks is presented. This is a meta-method that correlates alarms raised by failure-detection modules based on various philosophies. The correlation takes into account two main characteristics of each module and the whole metamethod: the percentage of false alarms and the percentage of omitted failures. The trade-off between them is tackled with aspiration-based multicriteria analysis. The alarms are correlated using linear classification by support vector machines. An example of the profitability of correlating alarms in such way is shown. This is an example of probabilistic context free grammars (PCFGs), used to model the proper runtime paths of network services (and thus usable for detecting an improper behavior of the services). It is shown that the linearly mixing PCFGs can add context handling to the PCFG model, thus augmenting the capabilities of the model.

In the paper a simple unsupervised monitoring method of rotary machines is proposed. The method consists of three stages - multi-reference preliminary analysis of the vibration signals, auto-reference preliminary analysis and probabilistic analysis of the signals. The method was tested by using signals from eight simulated machines. The efficiency of the method has been positively verified.
W niniejszej publikacji prosta proponujemy prostą metodę nienadzorowanego monitoringu maszyn wirnikowych. Metoda jest trzystopniowa - wieloreferencyjna wstępna analiza sygnałów drganiowych, autoreferencyjna wstępna analiza oraz probabilistyczna analiza sygnałów. Metoda została przetestowana na ośmiu symulowanych maszynach. Skuteczność metody została pozytywnie zweryfikowana.

Various methods of dealing with linear support vector machine (SVM) problems with a large number of examples are presented and compared. The author believes that some interesting conclusions from this critical analysis applies to many new optimization problems and indicates in which direction the science of optimization will branch in the future. This direction is driven by the automatic collection of large data to be analyzed, and is most visible in telecommunications. A stream SVM approach is proposed, in which the data substantially exceeds the available fast random access memory (RAM) due to a large number of examples. Formally, the use of RAM is constant in the number of examples (though usually it depends on the dimensionality of the examples space). It builds an inexact polynomial model of the problem. Another author's approach is exact. It also uses a constant amount of RAM but also auxiliary disk files, that can be long but are smartly accessed. This approach bases on the cutting plane method, similarly as Joachims' method (which, however, relies on early finishing the optimization).

This work shows the results of the comparative study of characteristic frequencies in terms of Power Spectral Density (PSD) or RMS generated by a blower unit and the SKFNU322 bearing. Data is collected following ISO 10816, using Emonitor software and with speed values in RMS to avoid high and low frequency signal masking. Bearing failure is the main cause of operational shutdown in industrial sites. The difficulty of prediction is the type of breakage and the high number of variables involved. Monitoring and analysing all the variables of the SKFNU322 bearing and those of machine operation for 15 years allowed to develop a new predictive maintenance protocol. This method makes it possible to reduce from 6 control points to one, and to determine which of the 42 variables is the most incidental in the correct operation, so equipment performance and efficiency is improved, contributing to increased economic profitability. The tests were carried out on a 500 kW unit of power and It was shown that the rotation of the equipment itself caused the most generating variable of vibrational energy.

Improvement of productivity has become an important goal for mining industries in order to meet the expected targets of production and increased price competitiveness. Productivity can be improved in different ways. The effective utilization of men and machinery is one such way. Equipment is prone to numerous unexpected potential failures during its operation. Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) is one of the suitable techniques of reliability modeling used to investigate the failure behavior of a complex system. In conventional FMEA, the risk level of failures, a ranking of failures and prioritization of necessary actions is made on the basis of estimated Risk Priority Number (RPN). While this approach is easy and uncomplicated, there are a few flaws in acquiring the best approximation of the failure. The estimation of RPN is made by multiplying the Severity (S), Occurrence (O) and Detection (D) alone and irrespective of the degree of importance of each input. Hence, a new risk management approach known as the Fuzzy rule base interface system was proposed in this research in order to mitigate the failures. Fuzzy FMEA is designed in order to acquire the highest Fuzzy RPN value which will be used as the focus of enhancements to reduce the probability of occurrence of some kind of failure for a second time. This study focused on the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of underground mining machinery such as Load-Haul-Dumper (LHD). 16 potential risks of various sub-system breakdowns were identified in Fuzzy FMEA. The highest value of RPN 168 (for potential failure mode-F9) was obtained for the electrical subsystem (SSE), as was the highest FRPN 117 (F9). There is a difference between the RPN and FRPN values. The FRPN value is obtained from Fuzzy field generation with consideration of the degree of importance of the given input data. In addition, the recommendations were made based on the analysis to reduce the uneven occurrence of failures.

Na przykładzie dwu Kopalń Węgla Kamiennego, przedstawiona została awaryjność w procesie wydobywczym, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem maszyny urabiającej. Analiza poddane zostały dwa kompleksy wydobywcze: kombajnowy oraz strugowy. Aby obniżyć koszty generowane przez awarie, służby utrzymania ruchu powinny na bieżąco prowadzić kontrolę racjonalnego oraz efektywnego użytkowania i obsługiwania maszyn. Konsekwencją tych działań będzie zmniejszenie przerw w pracy, a tym samym obniżenie kosztów produkcji, czyli zwiększenie efektywności działania zakładu górniczego. W niniejszym opracowaniu do oceny awaryjności urządzeń górniczych wykorzystano jedno z tradycyjnych narzędzi zarządzania jakością – diagram Pareto-Lorenza.
Failure frequency in the mining process, with a focus on the mining machine, has been presented and illustrated with an example of two coal-mines. Two mining complexes have been subjected to analysis: a combined cutter-loader and a plough system. In order to reduce costs generated by failures, maintenance teams should regularly make sure that the machines are used and operated in a rational and effective way. Such activities will allow breaks in work to be reduced, and in consequence will increase the effectiveness of a mining plant. The evaluation of mining machines failure frequency contained in this study has been based on one of traditional quality management tools – the Pareto chart.
