Opis:
The power consumption by valves of a conventional (i.e. power-centralized) water system is analyzed on the example of a water heating system in order to evaluate the extent of energy savings achievable in a power-decentralized system. The configuration and appli-cation of a power-decentralized system is briefly discussed.

Opis:
The working conditions of freight electric locomotives with full-weight and empty-weight trains are analyzed. It is shown that due to the use of scalable traction power control technology (discrete-adaptive control algorithm), there is a possibility for more complete use of electric locomotive capacity and, accordingly, a significant increase in its energy efficiency. The main condition for the realization of this possibility is the presence of an individual per-axle traction control system. Corresponding changes in the construction of electric locomotives of previous years of production can be made during modernization as part of factory repair. The calculation of financial savings from the use of these proposals is presented.

Opis:
The use of specialized rail rolling stock which is used for transporting ore from the quarry to the crushing plant at mining enterprises is analyzed here. Electric locomotives with an asynchronous traction electric drive and an on-board energy storage system are considered for use. The calculated dependencies of the electric locomotive tractive power were analyzed and it was established that on flat sections of the track profile, the movement is carried out with a power that does not exceed 50% of the nominal one. The movement with the nominal power is carried out on the controlled uphill during the cargo half-passage. To ensure the necessary power for movement in such areas, the use of an on-board energy storage system is proposed, which should feed the traction system while limiting the power consumed from the catenary. This happens when the voltage on the pantograph drops to a minimum level. The aim of this work is to determine the on-board energy storage system parameters during the operation of the electric locomotive with limitation of the power consumed from the traction network. Mathematical models of the energy exchange processes in the electric locomotive traction system have been developed. The criteria for comparing options for calculating the parameters of the on-board energy storage system have been proposed. The criteria take into account the reduction of energy consumption during movement, the efficiency of energy storage, and the complete use of the on-board energy storage system in terms of power and working energy capacity. Based on the calculation results, it was determined that the use of an energy storage device with a power of 3,540 kW and an operating energy capacity of 63.5 kWh provides a 10% reduction in energy consumption, which is being consumed while moving along the sample section of the road. The current that can be consumed by an electric locomotive with such parameters of the on-board energy storage system is limited by 600 A.

Opis:
The article contains a description of systems for measuring the energy produced by the photovoltaic system and its consumption by a building. The photovoltaic system consists of two micro-installations supplying two parts of the Lublin Science and Technology Park. An internet platform for monitoring photovoltaic plant operation is presented. The power generated and the amount of electricity produced are assessed. Also, an innovative system for monitoring and analysing the consumption and production as well as the efficient use of electricity in individual parts of the building is described. Based on the measurements carried out, the production of energy exceeded its consumption in one part of the building.
Przedstawiono platformę internetową do monitoringu pracy systemu fotowoltaicznego. Dokonano oceny generowanej mocy oraz ilości produkowanej energii elektrycznej. Następnie opisano innowacyjny system do monitoringu, analizy zużycia i produkcji oraz efektywnego wykorzystywania energii elektrycznej w poszczególnych segmentach budynku.

Opis:
Background. Student life is often accompanied by changes in eating behavior. Adopting a balanced and varied diet and healthy eating habits can promote the health, growth and intellectual development of young people at different stages of life. According to the WHO, a healthy diet helps protect against all forms of malnutrition, as well as against noncommunicable diseases. The nutritional and energy intake must follow nutritional norms, for example energy intake must be adapted to expenditure. To avoid excessive weight gain, fat should not exceed 30% of total energy intake Objective. The goal of this study was to compare energy consumption, macronutrients and selected minerals in food rations consumed by students at university campus and at home. Materials and Method. The subjects were chosen at random from among volunteer students from Hassan II University in Casablanca. A sample of 130 students (54 women and 76 men) aged 18 to 25, participated in this study. Anthropometric measurements were performed to assess general characteristics, and records of one-day food intakes at university and at the parental home were performed by 24-hour food diary, and as well as conducting face-to-face. Variables were expressed as mean ± standard deviation (SD). The Kolmogorov–Smirnov test was used to check the normality of data. Results. In accordance with the body mass index classifications, 69.5% of male university students and 77.7% of female were in normal weight categories. The overweight classes were 25.1% and 5.6%, respectively, for men and women. Assessment of the energy and nutritional intakes of university and home meals shows that students consume more calories, protein, carbohydrates, sodium, potassium, and iodine at home than at university, but these contributions remain insufficient in relation to the RDAs. Students consume more fat, especially saturated fatty acids, at university than at home. More than half of students exceed the recommended daily recommendations for saturated fatty acids. Conclusion. These results indicate that a university students’ diet is influenced by their behaviors, attitudes, and knowledge. Hence the importance of nutrition education, based on what foods to consume rather than what foods to avoid, a societal issue that requires a multidisciplinary, multisectoral and culturally appropriate approach.
