Opis:
The paper presents the coupled static and dynamic mechanical–electromagnetic finite element analyses of an electromechanical vibration energy harvesting converter with permanent–magnet excitation. The system consists of a small, milliwatt power range, linear–motion generator connected to a cantilever–beam spring element. The finite element equations derived for the mechanical part of the system according to the 1–D Timoshenko beam theory are coupled strongly with those describing the 2–D distribution of magnetic field in the generator and those associated with the electric circuit. The considered electromechanical coupling allows for prediction of static and dynamic response of the system subjected to action of externally applied force. The static displacement of the moving element is computed via solution of the nonlinear system of equations and is used as an initial solution in dynamic analysis. For computation of the dynamic response of the system the time–stepping procedure based on the Crank– Nicolson discretisation schema is applied. The models are positively validated against the measurements carried out on the laboratory test–stand.

Opis:
This paper presents a comparison of an AC radial flux interior permanent magnet (IPM) motor with the distributed winding (DW) and concentrated winding (CW). From time to time, manufacturers of electric vehicles change the design of electric motors, such changes may include changing the DW into CW and vice versa. A change to the winding in a radial permanent magnet synchronous motor may lead to a change in motor parameters during motor operation and /or change in the distribution of the magnetic field and thermal circuit of the electrical machine. The electromagnetic analysis, efficiency map, mechanical stress, and thermal analysis of the machine with the DW and CW are presented in this paper. This article describes the advantages and disadvantages of selected stator winding designs and helps understand manufacturers’ designers how the DW and CW play a key role in achieving the designed motor’s operational parameters such as continuous performance. Analyzing the performance of both machines will help identify their advantages and disadvantages with regard to thermal phenomena, magnetic field and operational parameters of the presented IPM prototypes. Both prototypes are based on commonly used topologies such as 12/8 (slot/pole) and 30/8 (slot/pole) IPM motors consisting of magnets arranged in a V-shape. The AC IPM motor was designed for an 80 kW propulsion system to achieve 170 N·m at a base speed of 4 500 rpm. Modern CAD tools are utilized throughout the numerical computations based on 2-D finite element methods. Selected test data are used to verify and validate the accuracy of finite element models.

Opis:
A novelty dual-stator brushless doubly-fed generator (DSBDFG) with magnetic-barrier rotor structure is put forward for application in wind power. Compared with a doubly-fed induction generator, the DSBDFG has virtues of high reliability and low maintenance costs because of elimination of brush and sliprings components. Therefore, the proposed structure has tremendous potential as a wind power generator to apply in wind power. According to the operating principle of electric machine, the DSBDFG is studied in wind power application. At first, the topology, the winding connecting, the rotor structure, the power flow chart of different operating models and the variable speed capability of electric machine are discussed and analyzed. Then, a 50 kW DSBDFG is designed. Based on the principal dimension of the design electric machine, the electromagnetic characteristics of the DSBDFG with different running modes are analyzed and calculated to adopt the numerical method. From the result, it meets the requests of electromagnetic consistency and winding connecting in the design electric machine. Meanwhile, it confirms the proposed DSBDFG has the strong ability of speed regulation.

Unique electromagnetic properties, especially concerning recent observations of the giant remanent magnetic moment in HTc superconductors, require new approach to modeling these phenomena in the oxide ceramics. The present paper is devoted to the analysis of the influence of flux pinning on critical current and flux trapping in HTc superconductors. Modeling of the interaction between nanosized pinning centers and pancake vortices is presented, allowing to determine critical current density, taking into account elasticity forces of the vortices lattice. Ceramic structure of oxide superconductors was considered in trapped flux analysis. The mechanism of trapped flux generation was regarded as strongly related to vortex pinning and critical current phenomena.

Opis:
Fractional-slot concentrated-winding permanent magnet synchronous machines (FSCW-PMSMs) have a good prospect of application in the drive system of electric and hybrid electric vehicles. However, the armature magnetomotive force (MMF) of FSCWPMSM contains a large number of space harmonics, which induce large magnet eddycurrent loss (ECL). To solve this problem, a dual three-phase 10-pole and 24-slot winding layout is proposed.MMFharmonic analysis shows that the 1st, 7th and 17th space-harmonic winding factors of the proposed winding can be reduced by 100%, 87% and 87% respectively, compared with a dual three-phase 10-pole and 12-slot winding. Electromagnetic performances of the proposed machine under rated sinusoidal current supply and space vector pulse-width-modulated (SVPWM) voltage supply are investigated based on 2D finite-element analysis. It is shown that the proposed machine can meet the requirement of torque and efficiency in the full speed range. Especially, magnet ECL can be reduced greatly due to the reduction of the 7th and 17th space harmonics.

We study for the first time errors in on-wafer scattering parameter measurements caused by the parasitic microstrip-like mode propagation in conductor-backed coplanar waveguide (CB-CPW). We determine upper bound for these errors for typical CPW devices such as a matched load, an open circuit, and a transmission line section. To this end, we develop an electromagnetic-simulations-based multimode three-port model for the transition between an air-coplanar probe and the CB-CPW. Subsequently, we apply this model to examine errors in the device S parameters de-embedded from measurements affected by the parasitic MSL mode. Our analysis demonstrates that the multimode propagation in CB-CPW may significantly deteriorate the S-parameters measured on wafer.

The structure and working principle of a written pole motor are presented. To the analysis of the motor, a field-circuit model of electromagnetic phenomena that takes into account magnetic hysteresis of magnetically hard materials is applied. The motion of the rotor, non-linear properties of magnetically soft materials, and eddy currents induced in the conductive massive materials are taken into account. To solve the equations of the proposed model, the finite edge element method and step-by-step algorithm are used. The elaborated method and software are applied to the analysis of the written pole motor.

This paper presents the improved methodology for the direct calculation of steady-state periodic solutions for electromagnetic devices, as described by nonlinear differential equations, in the time domain. A novel differential operator is developed for periodic functions and the iterative algorithm determining periodic steady-state solutions in a selected set of time instants is identified. Its application to steady-state analysis is verified by an elementary example. The modified algorithm reduces the complexity of steady-state analysis, particularly for electromagnetic devices described by high-dimensional nonlinear differential equations.

Opis:
The northern part of the Carpathians covers the north-eastern area of the Western and north-western of the Eastern Carpathians. The basement of the Carpathians in this zone is of a transitional nature and is relatively poorly explored, which results from its deep burial, in particular under the so-called Outer Carpathians. The interpretation of the tectonics and geodynamics of the basement depends to a large extent on the analysis of large scale geophysical data. In this area, regional seismic surveys were carried out mainly using the so-called deep refraction and numerous geophysical works using gravity, magnetic, geomagnetic and magnetotelluric methods. The subject of the presented work is a review of the regional image of electromagnetic and gravity studies carried out in this area, with particular emphasis on the territory of Poland, within which the authors carried out numerous research works. Electromagnetic research allows for the construction of a regional model of basement resistivity distributions and the determination of general outlines of its geometry as well as the formulation or testing of the concept of its geodynamical interpretations. An auxiliary role in this aspect is played by gravity data allowing to recognize the density distribution of the basement and constituting a set of additional data for integrated interpretation. The area outside the territory of Poland was presented on the basis of literature data, creating an extensive regional background for the results of research related with the participation of the authors in Poland. Within the Polish Carpathians, there is a structural reconstruction of the Carpathian overthrust and its basement, as well as a clear change in the nature of geophysical fields, e.g. the system of gravity field anomalies. Due to the deep burial of the Carpathian overthrust in this area and the complex structure of the orogen, which hinder effective drilling penetration, its fragmentary and uncertain recognition is based mainly on geophysical surface studies. The complex structure of the orogen reduces the effectiveness of the use of the seismic reflection method, the participation of which is limited in practice to the recognition of the basement in the marginal zone of the Carpathian overthrust. In the remaining area, alternative methods of surface geophysics are used, i.e. the magnetotelluric and gravity method. An important role in recognizing the basement of the Eastern part of the Polish Carpathians was played by magnetotelluric soundings that cover the above mentioned area with a relatively dense network of several generations of measurement points. The results of the interpretation of the MT soundings were used to construct a resistivity model, which was verified by new results of regional processing of seismic data and magnetotelluric and gravity modelling. The visualization of resistivity distributions was presented through maps interpreted at selected depth levels and in the resistivity cross-sections form. Resistivity distributions are the basis for interpreting tectonic zones marked as resistivity contrasts. Forward modelling and inversion of gravity data were used to verify resistivity structural models.

The paper describes the formulation and implementation of the broadband finite element time domain algorithm. The presented formalism is valid to analysis of electromagnetic phenomena in linear, frequency selective materials. The complex profile of permittivity of materials is approximated using a set of the Lorentz resonance models. The solution of the integro-differential second order equation is obtained using a singlestep integration scheme and a recursive convolution algorithm. The discussed formulation enables to adopt the structure of the narrowband part as well as the phase of calculation of the convolution equations for the subsequent components. The properties of the algorithm are validated using a finite difference broadband algorithm.
