Opis:
A dominating set S of a graph G is called efficient if |N[v]∩ S| = 1 for every vertex v ∈ V(G). That is, a dominating set S is efficient if and only if every vertex is dominated exactly once. In this paper, we investigate efficient multiple domination. There are several types of multiple domination defined in the literature: k-tuple domination, {k}-domination, and k-domination. We investigate efficient versions of the first two as well as a new type of multiple domination.

Structure is an essential element of most architecture works, but beyond its main function to carry loads, it can also enrich and animate the architectural space. The architect, in cooperation with the engineer, may expand awareness of the architectural potential of the load-bearing system and design efficient structural forms that are based on the natural flow of forces and are simultaneously functional, unique, and aesthetic. The article shows how to design such forms and attempts to demonstrate that they can have a positive impact on the originality and beauty of an architectural object.

Wireless sensor network is a significant piece of wireless communication. It is a gathering of an enormous number of sensor nodes that are set in remote spots. The sensors have ability to do a typical undertaking. So energy exhaustion plays a significant job in keeping up a stable network. To build the system lifetime, a different energy effective algorithm is required which expands the network lifetime and makes the network more energy productive. For the augmenting, the lifetime of the network diverse routing technique has been utilized which help in expanding the lifetime of the network. This article portrays the diverse routing protocol which helps in energy efficient routing in a wireless sensor network.

Opis:
The development of energy efficient buildings has been on the increase in recent years. This trend in architectural engineering reflects both the binding legal regulation and the rational approach of investors to the construction or refurbishment of buildings. When planning such an investment, it is necessary to scrutinize the underlying guidelines and the conditions in which the building will be developed, as well as its future useful life. Economic analysis of the effectiveness of investments in the building sector employs simple and discounted methods. Depending on the scope and complexity of envisaged construction work, it is possible to apply methods from both groups. However, simple methods should suffice for simple building projects, an example of which will be discussed in the article. Three variants of planned additional thermal insulation of external walls of a residential building will be presented. The results of our calculations showed that the payback period for such an investment would be too long, which is why it is recommended to combine the thermal insulation of outer walls with some broader measures so as to shorten the time needed to achieve a good return on investment ratio.

Opis:
The way compatible pairs of nitrate non-utilizing mutants (nit) are selected is usually not explained and remains unclear whether these pairs are representative for an isolate or strain. In addition, tester strains of Verticillium dahliae vegetative compatibility groups (VCGs) cross-react with at least one pair of tester strains of another VCG, and although it is a common knowledge of scientists working with the fungus that reversion of nit mutants to wild type occurs far too often, this fact is rarely mentioned in papers. To overcome the above problems, a protocol was developed for the generation of large number of nit mutants from any given isolate and to ensure that compatible pairs of mutants are indeed stable and the most frequent within the putative tester mutants produced from each isolate. Thus, we provide a reproducible and objective way of selecting V. dahliae tester strains for each isolate and VCG. Although VC grouping is based on the formation of stable heterokaryons, we demonstrate in this work that cross-reactions cannot be eliminated and that strict genetic barriers between two main VCG groups are absent in V. dahliae.

The aim of this paper is to introduce energy-saving civil engineering, to demonstrate the need for energy conservation, and to radically change the principles of building. The paper then shows the importance of the principle of sustainable development and acquaints the reader with the objectives of the European Union and its basic documents concerning measures to improve energy and climate protection standards in buildings. This paper presents the research programs and standards for the certification of buildings and housing estates inscribed in the principle of energy efficient civil engineering and sustainable development. Examples of low energy buildings from Germany and Austria are shown, with an emphasis on the principles of designing passive buildings. A vision of the future of architecture and civil engineering is presented using examples of innovative buildings and settlement structures designed based on energy saving and energy management.

In the article, cradle to cradle approach, as the desired direction of changes in the management of resources in production processes, is discussed. The study based on the analysis of literature, action programs, and case studies. Attention has been focused on the development of cradle to cradle approach around the world. The research aimed to raise awareness of the importance of resource management so that waste generation would be eliminated from the manufacturing processes. Residues of consumption and production should be re-integrated into biological or technological circulation. Cradle to cradle approach means a revolutionary change in the approach to the organization of following processes: products and services design, production and distribution. It also extends the scope of responsibility of manufacturers and users, but at the same time gives a chance to reduce the negative impact on the environment and to create new job opportunities.

Opis:
Wireless sensor network (WSN) plays a crucial role in many industrial, commercial, and social applications. However, increasing the number of nodes in a WSN increases network complexity, making it harder to acquire all relevant data in a timely way. By assuming the end node as a base station, we devised an Artificial Ant Routing (AAR) method that overcomes such network difficulties and finds an ideal routing that gives an easy way to reach the destination node in our situation. The goal of our research is to establish WSN parameters that are based on the biologically inspired Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) method. The proposed AAR provides the alternating path in case of congestion and high traffic requirement. In the event of node failures in a wireless network, the same algorithm enhances the efficiency of the routing path and acts as a multipath data transmission approach. We simulated network factors including Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), Throughput, and Energy Consumption to achieve this. The major objective is to extend the network lifespan while data is being transferred by avoiding crowded areas and conserving energy by using a small number of nodes. The result shows that AAR is having improved performance parameters as compared to LEACH, LEACH-C, and FCM-DS-ACO.

Opis:
The International Maritime Organization (IMO), through its Maritime Environmental Protection Committee (MEPC), has been carrying out substantive work on the reduction and limitation of greenhouse gas emissions from international shipping since 1997, following the adoption of the Kyoto Protocol and the 1997 MARPOL Conference. While to date no mandatory GHG instrument for international shipping has been adopted, IMO has given significant consideration of the matter and has been working in accordance with an ambitious work plan with a view to adopting a package of technical provisions. Beside the efforts undertaken by IMO, it is assumed that e.g. optimized manoeuvring regimes have potential to contribute to a reduction of GHG emissions. Such procedures and supporting technologies can decrease the negative effects to the environment and also may reduce fuel consumption. However, related training has to be developed and to be integrated into existing course schemes accordingly. IMO intends to develop a Model Course aiming at promoting the energy‐efficient operation of ships. This Course will contribute to the IMO’s environmental protection goals as set out in resolutions A.947(23) and A.998(25) by promulgating industry “best practices”, which reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the negative impact of global shipping on climate change. In this paper the outline of the research work will be introduced and the fundamental ideas and concepts are described. A concept for the overall structure and the development of suggested detailed content of the draft Model course will be exemplarily explained. Also, a developed draft module for the model course with samples of the suggested integrated practical exercises will be introduced and discussed. The materials and data in this publication have been obtained partly through capacity building research project of IAMU kindly supported by the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU) and The Nippon Foundation in Japan.
