Opis:
This paper is devoted to improving both the efficiency and the environmental friendliness of road vehicles during their operations through optimization of traffic phase duration within the controlled crossings. A novel criterion to optimize traffic phase duration within a controlled crossing is proposed. The proposed criterion supposes the minimal total delays of all road users waiting for a permissive traffic signal at the crossing and takes into consideration both pedestrian density and the number of passengers in vehicles. The calculation technique for the traffic phase was proposed, according to which delays of all road users were optimized, helping to improve the efficiency of vehicle operation within crossings. Based on the method, a technique to control traffic within crossings is developed and tested. Comparative analysis confirmed the decrease in unproductive delays of vehicles within the controlled crossings by contrast with the traditional approach. The technique makes it possible to reduce the delay of road users by 15-20% depending upon road crowding, the number of pedestrians, and passengers. Owing to the decreased period of waiting for a permissive traffic signal, the energy efficiency of public transport increases.

Widespread usage of emission free public transport is the preferred strategy in many cities to reduce a congestion and pollution from the road traffic. The trolleybus is a kind of urban public transport, i.e. a fully electric vehicle, which is considered as a promising tool to enhance the efficiency of public transport and to attain the goals of sustainable development and quality of city life. The operation control of service brake system and secondary brake system (the braking torque of traction electric motor) is realized with help of one pedal in the trolleybus. Thus, there are modes of the joint operation for these systems during the braking process. Authors focus on the development of rule-based algorithm for the blending control of traction electric motor and anti-lock braking system to enhance the overall braking efficiency of a vehicle. The mathematical model of the trolleybus braking dynamics was developed for this purpose. Test bench and ride tests on different road surfaces were carried out to determine the parameters of vehicle braking efficiency and to validate the developed mathematical model. The corresponding experimental data were used to analyse the efficiency of proposed rule-based strategy for the blending control of traction electric motor and anti-lock braking system of the trolleybus. As a result, the availability of proposed control algorithm is confirmed, which secures the required braking efficiency and provides a high braking stability of the vehicle.

Opis:
To analyze the braking process of a mine diesel locomotive with hydrostatic-mechanical transmission (HSMT), a mathematical model has been developed. In contrast to available models, this one takes into consideration rules of changes in controlling the parameters of hydrostatic drive (HSD) and implementation methods for the braking process. Moreover, the model makes it possible to study changes in kinematic parameters, power parameters, and energy parameters of HSMT under various conditions of a mine diesel locomotive operation. It has been determined that the use of HSMT operating according to the “output differential” scheme is possible, providing kinematic disconnection of the engine from the driving wheels (for emergency braking with complete stop of the diesel locomotive) or at the expense of HSD while preserving the kinematic connection between the engine and the wheels (for deceleration). Use of the braking system together with HSD or the braking system only while preserving the kinematic connection between the engine and the wheels will result in HSMT failure.

The portfolio of the automotive market appears more and more low-emission and zero-emission propulsions in vehicles. This is the result of measures taken to limit or even eliminate the emission of harmful substances into the atmosphere generated by vehicles. The article covers issues related to energy conversion in automotive drive systems currently offered by automotive manufacturers. Standard, hybrid, hybrid plug-in, electric and fuel cells drive system were analyzed. Attention was drawn to the chain of energy transformations related to each of the analyzed drive systems. The efficiency of the presented vehicle drive systems was analyzed. General conclusions were formulated regarding the method of analyzing energy changes related to the operation of automotive propulsion systems. The article reviewed selected author's own works on hybrid and hydrogen propulsion.

This paper presents an analysis of the results of daily observations from the execution of transport orders by three types of vehicles over a period of 2 years. The purpose of the research was to evaluate the operation process and determine the influence of important technical and operational variables on the economic efficiency of the operation process. A set of 7 quantitative variables, previously not considered in the evaluation of the commercial vehicle operation process, was subjected to statistical data analysis. An indicator analysis and evaluation of the intensity of use of the following types of vehicles was conducted: Renault Master, Fiat Ducato and Citroen Jumper. Based on the results of the research, the vehicle with the highest efficiency was determined and possible assumptions of the strategy applied in the company were indicated. The analysis and evaluation of vehicle efficiency gave rise to the identification of independent variables determining the company's income. Using the indicator method and the multivariate regression model, transport companies can evaluate the efficiency of transport tasks undertaken.

Nowadays, increasing number of machines and off-road vehicles are equipped with elastomeric, mainly rubber, tracked chassis. Rubber tracks and belts combine the most important advantages of both: pneumatic tires and conventional tracks made from metal links. In spite of significant benefits, rubber tracked chassis is a novel and uncommon design solution, as the application of rubber tracks and belts still brings up many severe problems. Consequently, an urgent need to overcome these problems exists. In The Division of Off-Road Machine and Vehicle Engineering (DORMVE) an intensive research, pertaining to rubber-tracked chassis has been conducted for many years. In the very beginnings, the investigation was carried on in cooperation with German companies INTERTRACTOR, IAMT and IBAF. As a result, numerous original and innovative design solutions, which became a subject of European, American and Japanese patents, were developed. However, some issues have not yet been resolved. Present research of DORMVE is aimed at identification of problems concerning energy efficiency of rubber-tracked chassis. The main objective of current investigation is to improve the energy efficiency. To do so a comprehensive optimisation process is to be carried out. Within the following article, a classification of aforementioned problems will be discussed. Research facilities in laboratory of DORMVE and exemplary results, which have already been obtained, will be also presented.

In electric and hybrid vehicles, it is possible to recover energy from the braking process and reuse it to drive the vehicle using the batteries installed on-board. In the conditions of city traffic, the energy dissipated in the braking process constitutes a very large share of the total resistance to vehicle motion. Efficient use of the energy from the braking process enables a significant reduction of fuel and electricity consumption for hybrid and electric vehicles, respectively. This document presents an original method used to estimate the efficiency of the regenerative braking process for real traffic conditions. In the method, the potential amount of energy available in the braking process was determined on the basis of recorded real traffic conditions of the analysed vehicle. The balance of energy entering and leaving the battery was determined using the on-board electric energy flow recorder. Based on the adopted model of the drive system, the efficiency of the regenerative braking process was determined. The paper presents the results of road tests of three electric vehicles, operated in the same traffic conditions, for whom the regenerative braking efficiency was determined in accordance with the proposed model. During the identi-fication of the operating conditions of the vehicles, a global positioning system (GPS) measuring system supported by the original method of phenomenological signal correction was used to reduce the error of the measured vehicle’s altitude. In the paper, the efficiency of the re-cuperation process was defined as the ratio of the accumulated energy to the energy available from the braking process and determined for the registered route of the tested vehicle. The obtained results allowed to determine the efficiency of the recuperation process for real traffic conditions. They show that the recuperation system efficiency achieves relatively low values for vehicle No. 1, just 21%, while the highest value was achieved for vehicle No. 3, 77%. Distribution of the results can be directly related to the power of electric motors and battery capacities of the analysed vehicles.

The solutions to the multi-criteria vehicle routing problem, dependent on route length and travelling time of delivery van, are presented in the paper. This type of problem is known as a traveling salesman problem. The artificial immune system is used to solve it in this article. Since there are two variables – route length and travelling time – two methods are employed. They are: Weighted Objectives Method and Pareto Efficiency Method. The results of calculation are compared.

The paper deals with the influence of active car safety systems on driver‘s behavior in emergency situations, i.e. emergency braking, steering angle, etc. Several models of real vehicles have been tested in order to analyse the ABS and ESP systems operation efficiency. The results of emergency braking and stability in real vehicle testing with ABS and ESP stability control systems switched on and off are presented in detail. In order to get the maximum impact of ABS and ESP systems (full activated) the real vehicles were tested on the asphalt paved road covered with wet snow. Tests were also carried out on the road sections with different pavement and state. The XL Meter Pro Beta measurement device was used for the real vehicle testing. The brakes and active safety systems of the vehicles have been tested for their effectiveness at different conditions: when the vehicle is braking on horizontal wet asphalt, and on an icy gravel surface, at a different initial running speed: 40km/h, 70 km/h and 100 km/h. During the real vehicle testing the stability during emergency braking resulted in the assessment of influence of active safety systems on handling the vehicle and its stability, and the driver's behaviour in emergency situations i.e. on a slippery road, or at sharp steering angle. The results of real vehicle testing have been presented in the paper in the form of charts. Examination of a vehicle emergency braking and stability systems results in the conclusions concerned with handling of the vehicle ad application of the above systems.

There is a need for vehicle relocation, whether for delivering new vehicles to their selling destinations, pulling inoperative or damaged vehicles out of traffiic, or removing illegally parked vehicles from the street. The relocation of illegally parked vehicles in the City of Zagreb is done by constantly monitoring parked vehicles or through citizen telephone alerts. The paper analyses the vehicle relocation service of the Zagrebparking company, which, in addition to overseeing car park management in public car parks and garages, is in charge of removing illegally parked vehicles. Due to the cyclic nature of its operations, a high share of empty rides, high vehicle investment costs, small quantities of cargo transported, high fuel prices, and high fuel consumption in the urban environment, Zagrebparking’s Vehicle Relocation Department operates with unnecessarily high costs. In this paper, vehicle relocation efficiency is analysed by presenting indicators of vehicle utilisation as part of a systematic evaluation of the company. Improvements to the current service are also provided.

The article discusses the research on CO2 emissions at the stage of electric engine vehicle operation. The operation stage includes, among others use of the vehicle as well as maintenance and charging for the vehicle’s propulsion. The origin of the electricity consumed during charging has an impact on the vehicle’s emissions balance. The scope of considerations concerns coal as the main energy carrier in Poland. The obtained results can be a benchmark for comparing other primary energy sources used for electricity production. Based on the collected technical data of electric cars, the values of CO2 emission factors from electricity production in thermal power plants and data on the state and structure of electricity production in Poland, an analysis of CO2 emissions from electric vehicles in the operational stage was performed. The vehicle’s electricity consumption of 0.14–0.16 kWh/km is accompanied by CO2 emissions of 100.94–115.36 g/km. The calculated CO2 exceeds the EU limit value from 01/01/2020 (95 g/km) for average CO2 emissions from new passenger vehicles. The main message of the work is the statement that increasing the efficiency of the electricity generation process in commercial thermal power plants in Poland will translate into a reduction in the emission of electric cars consuming this energy for propulsion. The research shows that the change in the efficiency of energy transformations in a thermal power plant from 38% to 46% leads to a reduction in the emission of an electric vehicle by over 17%. The emission of CO2 from a passenger car with a compression-ignition engine is discussed. The considerations include the stage of the use of the vehicle and the stage of production of diesel oil, which is consumed during the use of the vehicle.

This paper presents a real induction vehicle motor speed estimation technique, based on the fuzzy logic inference system knowledge for electric vehicle safety based on differential electronics as essential element for two wheeled electric vehicle driving which utilize the two back separately induction motors for motion. The aim object of the fuzzy logic controller is to give more and more safety for the electric propulsion system safety during motion against road topology. Our electric vehicle fuzzy inference system control’s simulated in Matlab SIMULINK environment, the results obtained present the efficiency and the robustness of the proposed control with good performances compared with the traditional PI speed control, the FLC induction traction machine presents not only good steady characteristic, but with no overshoot too. The electronic differential system ensures the robust control of the vehicle behavior on the road. It also allows controlling, independently, every driving wheel to turn at different speeds in any curve.

Specific features of air inlet system of BWP-1 vehicle UTD-20 engine are shown. The tests results of filtration efficiency and air flow drag for BWP-1 vehicle air filter standard version are presented. The necessity of UTD-20 engine air supplying system constructional changes are proved. The inlet air filtration system for BWP-1 engine with the porous filter was proposed and performed. The characteristics of the air purification efficiency (fi=f(mp) and flow drag Delta p- f(mp) Delta p= f(Omega c) for designed air filter were determined. Absorbency of filter for air nominal stream of engine BWP-1 was specified. The designed and executed partition air filter was subjected to comparative tests on an engine test bench. The influence of modernized air filter and fuel dose increase on engine effective parameters were determined. The tests covered comparison of effective parameters (determined for maximum load) of a UTD-20 engine equipped with a standard air filter (variant 1), a modernized air filter (variant 2) and additionally, for the modernized air filter, with injection pump with fuel dose increased (variant 3). There were determined the influence the proposed changes on indicated and effective torque during engine free acceleration and its mechanical efficiency as well.
