Arsenic is a prevalent and pervasive environmental contaminant with varied amounts in drinking water. Arsenic exposure causes cancer, cardiovascular, liver, nerve, and ophthalmic diseases. The current study aimed to find the best conditions for eliminating arsenic from simulated wastewater and their effect on biomarkers of hepatic in mice. Adsorption tests including pH, contact duration, Al-kheriat dosage, and arsenic concentrations were evaluated. Seventy-two healthy albino mice (male) were accidentally allocated into nine groups (n = 8), the first group was considered as healthy control, the second group (AL-Kheriat), and other groups received AL-Kheriat and arsenic 25, 50, 75, 100, 125, 150 and 175 mg/kg, respectively. Next 10 days, the following were examined: LD50 level, ALP (alkaline phosphatase), ALT (alanine aminotransferase), and AST (aspartate aminotransferase), besides the histological condition of the liver. The results showed that the best time for arsenic removal was 4 hours, pH 8, Alkheriat dose 1 gram, and 50 ppm of pollutants. The level of alkaline phosphatase ALP, alanine transaminase ALT, and aspartate transaminase AST was increased to 150.96 (U/L), 143.1(U/L), and 32.8(U/L), respectively, in Al-Khriet and arsenic exposed population than the healthy control group, When the appropriate dose of Al-Khriet and arsenic mixture is used, it can aid in the selection of a safe way of disposing of the adsorbed residue. Additionally, it can serve as a low-cost rodent pesticide, increasing the commercial viability of this removal strategy.

Opis:
The examples of the applications of the aircraft engines to propulsion of the heavy armored land vehicles are presented in this paper. They provide the power necessary for high mobility of these land vehicles, which have a weight much greater than trucks. These engines were mass produced and thus were readily available. It was easier to repair damaged engines, too. Both spark-ignition and compression-ignition piston engines as well as turbocharged engines were used to propulsion of the armored vehicles. General solutions of the dual-purpose engines for the vehicles during the First and Second World War as well as the engines used nowadays are presented. Attention is also given to the specific solutions of these engine assemblies. Their basic technical and operational parameters are described. The implications of adapting aircraft engines to land vehicles were analyzed.

This paper concerns analysis of possible use of alcohols for the feeding of self - ignition and spark-ignition engines operating in a dual- fuel mode , i.e. simultaneously combusting alcohol and diesel oil or alcohol and petrol . Issues associated with the requirements for application of bio-fuels were presented with taking into account National Index Targets , bio-ethanol production methods and dynamics of its production worldwide and in Poland. The considerations are illustrated by results of the tests on spark- ignition and self- ignition engines fed with two fuels : petrol and methanol or diesel oil and methanol, respectively. The tests were carried out on a 1100 MPI Fiat four- cylinder engine with multi-point injection and a prototype collector fitted with additional injectors in each cylinder. The other tested engine was a SW 680 six- cylinder direct- injection diesel engine. Influence of a methanol addition on basic operational parameters of the engines and exhaust gas toxicity were analyzed. The tests showed a favourable influence of methanol on combustion process of traditional fuels and on some operational parameters of engines. An addition of methanol resulted in a distinct rise of total efficiency of both types of engines at maintained output parameters ( maximum power and torque ). In the same time a radical drop in content of hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides in exhaust gas was observed at high shares of methanol in feeding dose of ZI ( petrol) engine, and 2-3 fold lower smokiness in case of ZS ( diesel) engine. Among unfavourable phenomena, a rather insignificant rise of CO and NOx content for ZI engine, and THC and NOx – for ZS engine, should be numbered. It requires to carry out further research on optimum control parameters of the engines. Conclusions drawn from this work may be used for implementation of bio-fuels to feeding the combustion engines.

Opis:
A novelty dual-stator brushless doubly-fed generator (DSBDFG) with magnetic-barrier rotor structure is put forward for application in wind power. Compared with a doubly-fed induction generator, the DSBDFG has virtues of high reliability and low maintenance costs because of elimination of brush and sliprings components. Therefore, the proposed structure has tremendous potential as a wind power generator to apply in wind power. According to the operating principle of electric machine, the DSBDFG is studied in wind power application. At first, the topology, the winding connecting, the rotor structure, the power flow chart of different operating models and the variable speed capability of electric machine are discussed and analyzed. Then, a 50 kW DSBDFG is designed. Based on the principal dimension of the design electric machine, the electromagnetic characteristics of the DSBDFG with different running modes are analyzed and calculated to adopt the numerical method. From the result, it meets the requests of electromagnetic consistency and winding connecting in the design electric machine. Meanwhile, it confirms the proposed DSBDFG has the strong ability of speed regulation.

Opis:
The problem discussed in the paper concerns the numerical modeling of thermal processes proceeding in micro-scale described using the Dual Phase Lag Model (DPLM) in which the relaxation and thermalization time appear. The cylindrical domain of a thin metal film subjected to a strong laser pulse beam is considered. The laser action is taken into account by the introduction of an internal heat source in the energy equation. At the stage of numerical modeling, the Control Volume Method is used and adapted to resolve the hyperbolic partial differential equation. In particular, the Alternating Direction Implicit (ADI) method for DPLM is presented and discussed. The examples of computations are also presented.

An artificial neural network (ANN) model was developed to predict the tensile properties of dual-phase steels in terms of alloying elements and microstructural factors. The developed ANN model was confirmed to be more reasonable than the multiple linear regression model to predict the tensile properties. In addition, the 3D contour maps and an average index of the relative importance calculated by the developed ANN model, demonstrated the importance of controlling microstructural factors to achieve the required tensile properties of the dual-phase steels. The ANN model is expected to be useful in understanding the complex relationship between alloying elements, microstructural factors, and tensile properties in dual-phase steels.

In this paper, we prove that the topological dual of the Banach space of bounded measurable functions with values in the space of nuclear operators, furnished with the natural topology, is isometrically isomorphic to the space of finitely additive linear operator-valued measures having bounded variation in a Banach space containing the space of bounded linear operators. This is then applied to a stochastic structural control problem. An optimal operator-valued measure, considered as the structural control, is to be chosen so as to minimize fluctuation (volatility). Both existence of optimal policy and necessary conditions of optimality are presented including a conceptual algorithm.

The purpose of this article is to develop a multicriteria group decision making (MCGDM) method in dual hesitant fuzzy (DHF) environment by evaluating the weights of the decision makers from the decision matrices using two newly defined prioritized aggregation operators based on score function to remove the inconsistencies in choosing the best alternative. Prioritized weighted averaging operator and prioritized weighted geometric operator based on Einstein operations are described first for aggregating DHF information. Some of their desirable properties are also investigated in details. A method for finding the rank of alternatives in MCGDM problems with DHF information based on priority levels of decision makers is developed. An illustrative example concerning MCGDM problem is considered to establish the application potentiality of the proposed approach. The method is efficient enough to solve different real life MCGDM problems having DHF information.

The Vertical Slit-based Field-Effect Transistor (VeSFET) is a novel junctionless device with two identical, independently controlled gates. The VeSFET, so far prototyped only as single-device test structures, has been considered in the literature exclusively as a component of digital systems. This article shows that the device’s properties make it attractive also for the analog designer. Some of the VeSFET’s analog-design related parameters are compared with those of the MOSFET of the corresponding technology node. Subsequently, a two-stage Miller operational transconductance amplifier (OTA) is proposed that makes use of the VeSFET’s two independently-controlled gates to drastically reduce the common-mode gain. An example application of the OTA in a current mirror is also presented.

Opis:
Dual quaternions and dual quaternion interpolation are powerful mathematical tools for the spatial analysis of rigid body motions. In this paper, after a review of some basic results and formulas, it will be presented an attempt to use these tools for the kinematic modeling of human joints. In particular, the kinematic parameters extracted from experimentally acquired data are compared with those theoretically computed from dual quaternions rigid body motion interpolation.
Kwaterniony dualne i interpolacja z użyciem kwaternionów dualnych stanowią silne narzędzia matematyczne wykorzystywane do analizy ruchu przestrzennego ciał sztywnych. W artykule przedstawiono przegląd podstawowych wzorów i wyników, a następnie zaprezentowano próbę użycia tych narzędzi do modelowania kinematyki stawów w ciele człowieka. W szczególności, parametry kinematyczne wyznaczone na podstawie danych eksperymentalnych porównano z wyliczonymi teoretycznie na podstawie interpolacji ruchu ciał sztywnych z użyciem kwaternionów dualnych.

In the paper, design flow of the application specific logic controllers with increased safety by means of Petri nets is proposed. The controller architecture is based on duplicated control unit and comparison results from both units. One specification of control algorithm is used by means of Petri net for both units. The hardware duplication is obtained during dual synthesis process. This process uses two different logic synthesis methods to obtain two different hardware configurations for both control units. Additionally, the dual verification is applied to increase reliability of the control algorithm. Such design flow simplifies the process of realization of control systems with increased safety.

A huge amount of carbon black (40-60 phr) was commonly used as a reinforcing material in manufacturing of tires to improve the technical properties of pure rubber. Carbon black causes severe health hazard like skin cancer, respiratory problem due to its fly loss property. This study focusses on reducing the usage of carbon black by replacing it with minimal quantity of nanoclay to compensate the technical properties of rubber. Natural rubber nanocomposite are fabricated using solution and mechanical mixing method in presence and absence of compatibilizer. Cure characteristics, wear test and mechanical properties were examined. NR nanocomposite with dual filler in presence of compatibilizer showed enhancement in torque values, mechanical and wear resistant property. Wear resistance, tensile strength and modulus of dual filler nanocomposite was increased by 66.7%, 91% and 85% when compared to pure NR. Hence NR nanocomposite with dual filler in presence of compatibilizer was found as a proving and possible nanocomposite for tire application.

The power transfer systems (PTS) has special reliability properties, including multiple states and fault dependence. Consequently, traditional binary-state reliability modeling methods cannot accurately evaluate the reliability of PTS. In order to resolve the contradiction between terminal energy demand and power transfer capability of PTS, this paper proposes a novel multi-state reliability model based on power transfer efficiency (PTE) for reliability evaluation of PTS. The multi-state model caused by performance degradation based on PTE is considered in this paper. In addition, the failure correlation in virtue of the system structure and energy allocation mechanism is analyzed in the proposed model, and the corresponding reliability evaluation result is obtained under different terminal energy requirements. The approach is verified on the example of a dual hydraulic actuation system (DHAS), in which the stochastic model based on the generalized stochastic Petri nets (GSPNs) is established and combined with the power transfer capability via universal generating function (UGF). Though changing flow rate to face the degradation rate of hydraulic pump, the reliability assessment of DHAS based on the proposed reliability model is effective and accurate.
Układy przesyłu energii (power transfer systems, PTS) charakteryzują się szczególnymi właściwościami niezawodnościowymi, w tym wielostanowością i zależnością między błędami. W związku z tym, tradycyjne metody modelowania niezawodności, które sprawdzają się w przypadku systemów dwustanowych, nie pozwalają na dokładną ocenę niezawodności PTS. W przedstawionej pracy zaproponowano nowatorski model niezawodności systemu wielostanowego, który do oceny niezawodności PTS wykorzystuje dane o wydajności przesyłu energii (PTE). Model ten wiążę niezawodność zarówno z zapotrzebowaniem na energię końcową jak i zdolnością przesyłową PTS. Rozważano model wielostanowy opisujący proces degradacji komponentów systemu w oparciu o PTE. W proponowanym modelu analizowano korelacje między uszkodzeniami w świetle struktury systemu i mechanizmu alokacji energii, a niezawodność oceniano dla różnych stopni zapotrzebowania na energię końcową. Podejście to zweryfikowano na przykładzie podwójnego układu hydrauliki siłowej (DHAS), dla którego ustalono model stochastyczny oparty na uogólnionych stochastycznych sieciach Petriego (GSPN), który łączono ze zdolnością przesyłową za pomocą uniwersalnej funkcji tworzącej (UGF). Badania pompy hydraulicznej prowadzone dla różnych prędkości przepływu i różnych szybkości degradacji wykazały, iż ocena niezawodności DHAS na podstawie proponowanego modelu cechuje się skutecznością i trafnością.
