Opis:
This study employed viable methods for the selection of a preeminent mooring line amongst other alternatives for the mooring of a floating wave energy converter (WEC) in shallow waters. Conventional mooring lines for WEC mooring are identified for an optimal selection exercise. A combination of the Entropy Weight and Visekriterijumska Optimizacijia I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR) methods is utilized in the aforementioned exercise. The two methods are effectively used in an assessment of the attributes and performance of various mooring lines in practical application. The result obtained demonstrated that a steel wire rope is the best mooring line suitable for WEC system operations. It constitutes a good reference to marine and offshore engineering industries in decision making related to optimal mooring lines suitable for the mooring of a WEC system in shallow waters.

Opis:
In the article a new type of the C-dump converter type was presented, it was intended to supply switched reluctance drives, which is a modification of the configuration introduced in [1]. A structure and a principle of its working were discussed. In this construction independent supplying sections for each motor phase were used. Differences in construction and working both of the configurations and their influence on efficiency of the drive were discussed. Model results of simulation calculations of electromagnetic torque and phase current waveforms were presented. Applying the new system caused the increase in the efficiency of the drive.

Opis:
The paper presents simulation studies on the synthesis of new fractional-order elements, using classic fractional-order components, such as supercapacitors and real coils with ferromagnetic cores. These new fractional-order elements have been realized using a generalized impedance converter GIC. Firstly, a new method for fractional-order elements modeling in PSpice has been described, which involves the use of controlled voltage E or current G sources, defined in Analog Behavioral Modeling (ABM). An equivalence of the classic and proposed description of the fractional-order capacitor have been presented. For the GIC structure, two cases of the have been analyzed in the PSpice: first, with models of ideal operational amplifiers, modeled as controlled voltage sources, and the second with models of the real operational amplifiers, of type OPA549. The obtained frequency characteristics of an exemplary GIC structure with one fractionalorder element show big similarity for both types of models. The impact of different values of the parameter α and the type of the used real amplifier on the solution has been analyzed too.

These new fractional-order elements have been realized using a generalized impedance converter GIC. Two cases have been analyzed in the paper: first, with only one fractional-order element being a load impedance of the generalized impedance converter, and second, with two fractional-order elements - one being a part of the structure of the GIC and the second being the load impedance. The derived relations are illustrated by simulation examples for the circuit. The impact of different values of the parameter α on the solution of the considered problem has been analyzed too.

Opis:
In the paper, the concept of a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) with uniquely designed stator windings for wind turbines is presented. Two 3-phase windings in the stator are used, one of which is connected in the star, while the other in the delta configuration. Six-pulse rectifiers, mutually coupled by the pulse transformer, whose primary winding is supplied by the so-called “current modulator”, are placed at the outputs of both windings. The modulator output current should meet all the necessary and strict requirements. Both rectifiers operate on a common DC circuit. These solutions provide the sinusoidal magnetomotive force in the stator of the PMSG and the quasi-sinusoidal (taking into account the non-linearity of the magnetic circuit) magnetic flux. In light of the generator principle, it has been called the “PMSG with modulated the magnetic flux”. The slightly higher complexity in the structure of the generator, as compared to the normal three-phase construction, is compensated by the exceptional simplicity of the power electronics section of the system, which allows high efficiency to be reached. The current modulator (as well as the pulse transformer) is a power electronics converter with a relatively low output power as compared to the overall output power of the system. In comparison to other known solutions, the expected cost of the system should be lower. It is also expected that a high degree of reliability in terms of its operation will be achieved, and consequently, that the the ongoing costs of its maintenance will be reduced. In the paper, concept, theoretical basis of operation, and results of the studies of the simulation models of the generator, including the basic power electronics section, are presented.

Opis:
In this paper, a step-up micro power converter for solar energy harvesting applications is presented. The circuit is based on a switched-capacitor voltage doubler architecture with MOSFET capacitors, which results in an area approximately eight times smaller than using MiM capacitors for the 0.13 žm CMOS technology. In order to compensate for the loss of efficiency, due to the larger parasitic capacitances, a charge reutilization scheme is employed. The circuit uses a phase controller, designed specifically to work with the series of two PV cells, in order to regulate the output voltage to 1.2 V. Electrical simulations of the circuit, together with an equivalent electrical model of a PV cell, show that the circuit can deliver a power of 536.1 žW to the load, while drawing a power of 799.8 žW from two PV cells stacked in series, corresponding to a maximum efficiency of 67%.

The purpose of the present study is to simulate and analyze an isolated full-bridge DC/DC boost converter, for photovoltaic panels, running a modified perturb and observe maximum power point tracking method. The zero voltage switching technique was used in order to minimize the losses of the converter for a wide range of solar operation. The efficiency of the power transfer is higher than 90% for large solar operating points. The panel enhancement due to the maximum power point tracking algorithm is 5.06%.

Opis:
In this paper, a novel switching-capacitor DC-DC voltage converter with higher efficiency will be presented. This circuit was designed by modifying the output stage of the conventional static charge-transfer-switch (CTS) charge pump in a cross-coupled configuration. In this design, a control scheme to overcome both the reverse charge sharing and the threshold drops in the CTS pump was also employed. In this study, the capacitances for all the pumping capacitors were selected the same as 0.1 μF. With this design, our circuit can operate with a clock rate up to 1 MHz. The performance of this circuit was first evaluated by simulation by HSPICE with the 0.35-μm technology of TSMC. The results showed that this circuit can pump the low input of 1.5V nearly 5 times at the output. The conversion gain can be around 95%. The performance of the real chip manufactured by TSMC was measured and will be compared with the simulation results.
