Opis:
Various understanding of human wisdom is discussed, from common-sense approaches through cognitive considerations to scientific analysis. The main cognitive levels are considered such as: filtering the available information about the appearing situation, comprehensive assessment of the situation, awareness of the consequences about the existing situation and reaction to the existing situation. The basic set of essential attributes like knowledge, skills, and inspirations are also analyzed. Based on these considerations some relations between cognitive levels and wisdom attributes are presented. It leads to a definition of the wisdom quotient which is a representative measure of human wisdom behaviors. Some representative cases of such behavior are specified and discussed as human attitudes. It is also shown how computer science approaches can support calculation of some wisdom indexes and, in consequence, allow understanding human wisdom.

Opis:
The primary way of presenting phenomena which are elusive for the senses, the mechanisms of which exceed our direct cognitive abilities (e.g. viruses, bacteria, infection, treatment) and those that require abstract thinking is through a process of metaphorization. Before the bacteriological breakthrough, diseases could be conceptualizedby means of metaphors of the imbalance of the internal system; of punishment, flaw, and sin; of mechanical defects; or by means of personalisation or reification. After Louis Pasteur, the war metaphor was developed and, with technological development, also the mechanistic metaphor, and then the bioinformatics metaphor. On the other hand, today we can see that, as we with become more aware of this process, there is also a need for a new way of their metaphorization to respond to new diseases, especially chronic and incurable ones. In thispaper I will try to indicate and briefly discuss various metaphors of disease; however, the bulk of the attention will be dedicated to metaphors linking disease with war, as they are most popular in the contemporary culture.

Opis:
In the paper we discuss the problem of limitations of freedom in mathematics and search for criteria which would differentiate the new concepts stemming from the historical ones from the new concepts that have opened unexpected ways of thinking and reasoning. We also investigate the emergence of category theory (CT) and its origins. In particular we explore the origins of the term functor and present the strong evidence that Eilenberg and Carnap could have learned the term from Kotarbiński and Tarski.

Opis:
The article is devoted to consideration of verbal fluency in MCI-PD. The VF test allows for the detection of dysfunctions within linguistic processes, semantic memory and dysfunctions of executive functions already in the early stages of Parkinson’s disease. The article compares the results of verbal fluency tests in selected categories of proper names and common names, and assesses the effect of the MCIPD stage on the test result. The comparison of the test group results with various degrees of MCI indicates a progressive decrease in verbal fluency. The experiment showed different profiles of the verbal task in terms of common and proper names.

Opis:
The paper deals with the concepts of GOOD and BAD as reflected in the Bulgarian lexical system within the framework of the Cognitive Metaphor Theory, developed by Lakoff and Johnson. The study claims that the concepts of GOOD and BAD are undoubtedly grounded in human experience but are conceptualized by means of metaphors as such concepts do not exist objectively in the physical world but result from human understanding of it. The cognitive metaphors discussed in the paper are studied with reference to human understanding of order, orderliness and disorder, chaos in the world.
