The present articles covers a concept of the creation and testing of assembly systems with the use of modern CAD and CAE systems on the example of an assembly system designed for joining parts with circular surfaces that are fitted with positive clearance. The numerical investigations were based on the constructed spatial skeleton pattern of the system. The purpose of the simulation tests was to determine the impact of the measurement and angular inaccuracies of all the elements of the assembly system as well as the inaccuracy of the positioning of the robot’s drives on the positioning accuracy of the parts joined taking into consideration the conditions of assembly in automatic assembly.

The need for new products to suit differentiated customer needs and shorter product life-cycles, forces manufacturers to change or modify products and production systems at more frequent intervals. The objective of this paper is to discuss management of newness within assembly system design in the vehicle industry. Based on a case study covering four assembly development projects, a model using the quality concept of 7M is presented to evaluate the level of newness. The results show that the model provides a promising platform for evaluation of newness.

Demands for micro/nano products and assembly systems have been raised significantly to meet the ever complex technical needs for modern society. In this paper, we share the experiences and results of the study on the flexible micro assembly workcell focused primarily on a novel system implementation and system performance analysis. For flexible and autonomous assembly operations, we investigated a novel model based 3D depth measurement technology for faster and cost effective means to promote autonomous micro assembly systems in various industries. Micro parts, by its nature, are known of their shapes in advance for the majority of micro applications. We take advantage of the previously known shape of micro parts and hence apply a model based approach for a faster and cost effective localization and 3D depth measure of randomly loaded micro-parts on the workcell. The proposed 3D depth measuring method is based on the pattern recognition and multi-focus technique enabling it to extract only information useful for micro parts assembly for faster recognition. For demonstration purpose, silicon based oxide gears are fabricated by bulk micromachining and are used to study performance indices and to prove the usefulness of the proposed micro 3D depth measurement technology.

Opis:
The paper deals with the modeling and fault-tolerant control of a real battery assembly system which is under implementation at the RAFI GmbH company (one of the leading electronic manufacturing service providers in Germany). To model and control the battery assembly system, a unified max-plus algebra and model predictive control framework is introduced. Subsequently, the control strategy is enhanced with fault-tolerance features that increase the overall performance of the production system being considered. In particular, it enables tolerating (up to some degree) mobile robot, processing and transportation faults. The paper discusses also robustness issues, which are inevitable in real production systems. As a result, a novel robust predictive fault-tolerant strategy is developed that is applied to the battery assembly system. The last part of the paper shows illustrative examples, which clearly exhibit the performance of the proposed approach.

In the paper issues related to the mixed-model production in linear systems on the example of a car manufacturing company are discussed. The origins of linear assembly systems are described, and problems concerning determining the sequence of tasks to be admitted to assembly processes are pointed out. The computer system for projecting the production orders sequence in a mixed-model production system, based on a hybrid solution is presented. Also basics of the CSP (car sequencing problem) are discussed.
W artykule omówione zostały zagadnienia związanie z produkcją w systemach mixed-model na przykładzie przedsiębiorstwa wytwarzającego samochody. Przedstawiona została geneza liniowych systemów montażowych oraz problemy związane z ustalaniem sekwencji zleceń przyjmowanych do montażu. Zaprezentowana została również aplikacja komputerowa do projektowania sekwencji zleceń w systemach mixed-model, oparta o rozwiązanie hybrydowe. Omówione zostały również podstawowe założenia problemu CSP (ang. Car Sequencing Problem, Problem Sekwencjonowania Samochodów).

This paper proposes the application of computer simulation methods in order to analyse the availability of resources, buffers and the impact of the allocation of workers on the throughput and work-in-progress of a manufacturing system. The simulation model of the production system is based on an existing example of a manufacturing company in the automotive industry. The manufacturing system includes both machining and assembly operations. Simulation experiments were conducted vis-`a-vis the availability of the different manufacturing resources, the various allocations of buffer capacities and the number of employees. The production system consists of three manufacturing cells – each cell including two CNC machines – and two assembly stations. The parts produced by the manufacturing cells are stored in buffers and transferred to the assembly stations. Workers are allocated to the manufacturing cells and assembly stations, but the number of workers may be less than number of workplaces and are thus termed ‘multi-workstations’. Using computer simulation methods, the impact of the availability of resources, the number of employees and of the allocation of buffer capacity on the throughput and work-in-progress of the manufacturing system is analysed. The results of the research are used to improve the effectiveness of manufacturing systems using a decision support system and the proper control of resources. Literature analysis shows that the study of the impact of buffer capacities, availability of resources and the number of employees on assembly manufacturing system performance have not been carried out so far.

The present work is aimed at presenting the disturbance generated by a solar array drive assembly (SADA) driving a flexible system. Firstly, the vibration equation of SADA is obtained by simplifying and linearizing the electromagnetic torque. Secondly, the disturbance model of SADA driving a discrete flexible system is achieved based on the vibration equation established. Taking a two-dof flexible system as the study object, this disturbance model is simulated and analyzed. Lastly, a continuous flexible system, which is designed to simulate the solar array, is used to illustrate the simulation method of the disturbance emitted by SADA driving a continuous flexible system. All the achievements obtained from this project will provide a theoretical basis for the prediction of the disturbance emitted by the SADA driving solar array on the orbit.

The paper concerns the design of a framework for implementing fault-tolerant control of hybrid assembly systems that connect human operators and fully automated technical systems. The main difficulty in such systems is related to delays that result from objective factors influencing human operators’ work, e.g., fatigue, experience, etc. As the battery assembly system can be considered a firm real-time one, these delays are treated as faults. The presented approach guarantees real-time compensation of delays, and the fully automated part of the system is responsible for this compensation. The paper begins with a detailed description of a battery assembly system in which two cooperating parts can be distinguished: fully automatic and semi-automatic. The latter, nonderministic in nature, is the main focus of this paper. To describe and analyze the states of the battery assembly system, instead of the most commonly used simulation, the classic max-plus algebra with an extension allowing one to express non-deterministic human operators’ work is used. In order to synchronize tasks and schedule (according to the reference schedule) automated and human operators’ tasks, it is proposed to use a wireless IoT platform called KIS.ME. As a result, it allows a reference model of human performance to be defined using fuzzy logic. Having such a model, predictive delays tolerant planning is proposed. The final part of the paper presents the achieved results, which clearly indicate the potential benefits that can be obtained by combining the wireless KIS.ME architecture (allocated in the semi-automatic part of the system) with wired standard production networks.

The article deals with the application of vision guided parallel robot FANUC M-1iA for automated assembly process. Vision system is used for object identification and filtering the data about its position and orientation. Control system based on iR Vision system can process data collected from camera Sony XC-56 fixed to the frame and navigate the end-effector to grasp and move selected objects. Integration of vision guided robot control into the high speed parallel robot can be highly productive. The functionality of vision guided robot system is demonstrated at automated assembly process of USB memory stick with variable positioning of its components.

The Polish National Assembly is a constitutional governing body, endowed with unique powers that cannot be exercised by any other body. However, the status of the Assembly as a separate state organ raises doubts. Since the restoration of the Assembly, its position in the system has changed significantly, which was related to the multiple modification of the competences of this organ. The evolution of this organ in 1989-2020 allows treating it as an interesting research case. Especially since the competences of the National Assembly are crucial for ensuring the continuity of state power.
Polskie Zgromadzenie Narodowe jest konstytucyjnym organem władzy, wyposażonym w unikalne kompetencje, których nie może wykonać żaden inny organ. Status Zgromadzenia jako odrębnego organu państwa budzi jednak wątpliwości. Od czasu przywrócenia Zgromadzenia jego pozycja ustrojowa zmieniła się w sposób znaczący, co było związane z wielokrotną modyfikacją kompetencji tego organu. Ewolucja tego organu w okresie 1989-2020 pozwala traktować jako interesujący przypadek badawczy. Zwłaszcza, że kompetencje Zgromadzenia Narodowego należą do kluczowych dla zapewnienia ciągłości władzy w państwie.

Making a good production planning is a first step to produce products in effective and efficient ways. A good production planning needs information about the real conditions in the shop-floor. Without knowing the actual conditions in the shop-floor, it will be difficult to plan production well. In order to know the conditions of the shop-floor, a production monitoring system is needed. This paper deals with development of integrated product model for supporting production monitoring system on an automobile assembly industry. The integration of information between the production controls with the shop-floor is needed to build a production monitoring system. One way to integrate the two systems is by using a product model that is a representation of a real product. In general, the research method used in this research is the development of product models and other related models. The modelling concept used in this research is object oriented modelling. After that, this research also has developed a database in accordance with the developed models and interfaces used to manipulate them. The main proposed models in this research are the product type model and the product model. The product type model is the product model that represents the product designs. On the other hand, the product model is a model that represents the actual products. If the data on the product type model is relatively static, then the data on the product model is dynamic depending on the state of the real product. Each product model will have production sequence processes in accordance with the sequence processes of the represented product. Each time a process of real product is finished, and then the related process model in the product model will be updated. The condition of the processes that has occurred in the shop-floor will be known by manipulating data of the product models.

Opis:
The paper presents the vision system implemented on a laboratory test station, simulating industrial robot-operated electronic circuits assembly line. Verification of the developed algorithm, which is based on the Open Source Computer Vision library, has also been supplemented by measurements of the system speed and uncertainties. By that means, it has been shown that expensive off-the-shelf systems can be replaced by the elaborated one, without compromising production cycle time and repeatability.
W artykule zaprezentowano system wizyjny zaimplementowany na laboratoryjnym stanowisku pomiarowym, symulującym działanie przemysłowej linii produkcyjnej wytwarzającej układy scalone. Testowane algorytmy powstały w oparciu o otwarte biblioteki Open Source Computer Vision (OpenCV) co sprawia, że ich użycie pozwala na obniżenie kosztów wytwarzania jakie ponosi przedsiębiorstwo. Jest to szczególnie istotne w przypadku produkcji masowej, w której nawet najmniejsza zmiana czasu pojedynczego cyklu pracy przekłada się na znaczącą zmianę ogólnej opłacalności produkcji. Wydajność opracowanego systemu została potwierdzona poprzez testy wykonane w sprzężeniu z komercyjnym odpowiednikiem, czym udowodniono, że kosztowne rozwiązania mogą z powodzeniem zostać zastąpione przez zbudowany system. Cel ten można osiągnąć bez strat na dokładności i czasie cyklu produkcyjnego. Zastosowanie opisanego rozwiązania nie powoduje również obniżenia jakości produkowanych elementów, nie generując tym samym dodatkowych kosztów związanych z ich kontrolą. W pierwszej części tekstu zamieszczono opis metod wykorzystanych do realizacji zamierzonego celu, jak również objaśnienia zastosowanych technik przetwarzania obrazu aby ułatwić zrozumienie zagadnienia czytelnikowi niezaznajomionemu z tą dziedziną robotyki. W dalszych paragrafach przedstawiono analizę dokładności i szybkości działania systemu, porównując te parametry z odpowiednikami uzyskanymi przy użyciu profesjonalnego systemu.

In the method of steel tank erection, consisting in assembling the roof and the next courses (segments) of the shell at the ground level, starting from the top one (the so-called hydraulic jacking-up method), the assembled part of the tank is lifted using assembly supports (towers, trestles), hydraulic jacks and ropes. Supports are located inside or outside the tank, and their bases are usually not anchored. During the assembly work, numerous contaminations can appear under the bases of the supports; therefore, boundary conditions of the system consisting of the elevated tank and assembly supports may change, influencing the field of displacements and stresses in the elements of this system. This article presents the results of numerical tests of an exemplary mounted tank – mounting support system – at various possible coefficients of friction between the bases of the supports and the ground. The influence of the support conditions on the effort of the essential elements of the system was assessed. Calculation difficulty was noted to determine the directions of horizontal responses of the supports. It was assumed that these directions did not change after exceeding the values of the friction forces. The analysed tank collapsed during its erection.

In mid-1992, Japanese consultant Yamada Hitoshi was tasked with modifying the production systems of Japanese companies as the existing configurations at manufacturing plants no longer satisfied unstable demands. He made improvements to the overall production system by dividing the long assembly lines into several short ones called cells or seru. Although of the advantages, it is still unclear about how to manage this new production system, and what variables really promoted the desired benefits. We identify in total 39 articles from 2004– 2020 about the progress of the seru production system, and we observe some possibilities to improve the effectiveness of this type of the production system. The first is the possibility of manufacturing the product in flexible sequence, in which the operations are independent among them. We show through the developed example that the makespan may be different. We noted when converting the in-line production system to one pure seru, the makespan tend to increase. Nevertheless, when analyzing the effectiveness of serus working concomitantly considering splitting the same lot, makespan and the cost may be reduced. And finally, when converting to one of pure serus, the performance may be similar to that obtained when serus working concomitantly.
