Opis:
The main purpose of this work is to confirm the possibility of making large-scale orthophotomaps applying unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) Trimble-UX5. A planned altitude reference of the studying territory was carried out before to the aerial surveying. The studying territory has been marked with distinctive checkpoints in the form of triangles (0.5 × 0.5 × 0.2 m). The checkpoints used to precise the accuracy of orthophotomap have been marked with similar triangles. To determine marked reference point coordinates and check-points method of GNSS in real-time kinematics (RTK) measuring has been applied. Projecting of aerial surveying has been done with the help of installed Trimble Access Aerial Imaging, having been used to run out the UX5. Aerial survey out of the Trimble UX5 UAV has been done with the help of the digital camera SONY NEX-5R from 200m and 300 m altitude. These aerial surveying data have been calculated applying special photogrammetric software Pix 4D. The orthophotomap of the surveying objects has been made with its help. To determine the precise accuracy of the got results of aerial surveying the checkpoint coordinates according to the orthophotomap have been set. The average square error has been calculated according to the set coordinates applying GNSS measurements. A-priori accuracy estimation of spatial coordinates of the studying territory using the aerial surveying data have been calculated: mx=0.11 m, my=0.15 m, mz=0.23 m in the village of Remeniv and mx=0.26 m, my=0.38 m, mz=0.43 m in the town of Vynnyky. The accuracy of determining checkpoint coordinates has been investigated using images obtained out of UAV and the average square error of the reference points. Based on comparative analysis of the got results of the accuracy estimation of the made orthophotomap it can be concluded that the value the average square error does not exceed a-priori accuracy estimation. The possibility of applying Trimble UX5 UAV for making large-scale orthophotomaps has been investigated. The aerial surveying output data using UAV can be applied for monitoring potentially dangerous for people objects, the state border controlling, checking out the plots of settlements. Thus, it is important to control the accuracy the got results. Having based on the done analysis and experimental researches it can be concluded that applying UAV gives the possibility to find data more efficiently in comparison with the land surveying methods. As the result, the Trimble UX5 UAV gives the possibility to survey built-up territories with the required accuracy for making orthophotomaps with the following scales 1: 2000, 1: 1000, 1: 500.

Opis:
Accurately estimating the volume of earthworks is very important in mining engineering and construction. This estimation can be difficult because of the morphological condition of the stockpiles, hence, devising simpler, yet accurate methods of stockpile volume estimation is still a research problem in mining. Two non-invasive survey methods were compared in this research: the conventional ground-based and UAV-approach, for the survey of a twin-stockpile of gravel using Leica TS06 Total Station and DJI Mavic Air UAV, respectively. About 128 images of the area were acquired at 50 m flying height and 75% overlap during the flight mission. The images were processed using Agisoft Metashape Pro; a digital photogrammetric software, and the DEM obtained was used for the volume estimation. The total station data was also processed in ArcGIS to generate a TIN-model from which the volume was also estimated. The volume estimated from the TIN-model was compared with the volume estimated from the UAV-based DEM, using the volume obtained from the mill-machine as the standard. The obtained result shows that while 2750 m³ was obtained as the cumulative volume from the mill machine, the UAV approach yielded 2686.252 m³ and the ground survey approach gave 2830.713 m³. The percentage difference between the two methods compared to the actual volume is 2.94% and −2.31%, respectively. These results, and the result of the processing time analysis show that UAV approach is both accurate and time economical, which attests to the potentials of low-cost UAVs to provide robust alternative to the time-consuming and rigorous ground survey approach.

Opis:
Since tragedies caused by nuclear disasters are always a concern, it is essential that nuclear power plants be monitored on a regular basis for any irregularities in ionising radiation levels. Irrespective of leakage proof measures being deployed in the plant, ensuring the safety of these measures is necessary. Given this scenario, the present study proposes the usage of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to ensure that radiation levels in nuclear plants remain within safe limits. The UAV deployed will map the entire environment following a unique path planning algorithm and monitor the environment with an onboard radiation sensor. If any irregularities are detected, the positional coordinates are flagged, and the A* algorithm is implemented to generate the shortest path between the starting point, and the flagged coordinates, which are considered as the destination coordinates. The UAV is made to traverse the shortest path together with maintaining stability of the system while traversing.

Opis:
The subject of the article is the measurements of normal height (H) of the western top of Mount Łysica (Świętokrzyskie Mountains, Poland), carried out using the GNSS and geometric leveling methods according to standards for geodetic control network. As the elevation system EN-KRON86-NH was assumed. The reference data was the result of earlier measurements made using different methods: ALS, GNSS RTN and geometric levelling between selected points of Mount Łysica. The analysis of the survey results showed differences between the DEM from ALS measurement and the actual height reaching up to 0.47 m on small boulders and not exceeding the value of 0.17 m in the flat area. Differences between GNSS RTN measurement and geometric leveling based on GNSS static measurement did not exceed 0.03 m. An inventory of former state geodetic control network point “12 Góra Łysica” was also conducted. The point was found to be partially destroyed, and located 12 m south and 1.5 m below the actual top of the mountain. Therefore it was assumed, that a new geodetic control network point should be located on the top for the needs of forest inventory as well as setting the actual height of Mount Łysica.

Opis:
Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or drones have made great progress in aerial surveys to research and discover heritage sites and archaeological areas, particularly after having developed their technical capabilities to carry various sensors onboard, whether they are conventional cameras, multispectral cameras, and thermal sensors. The objective of this research is to use the drone technology and k-mean clustering algorithm for the first time in Nineveh Governorate in Iraq to reveal the extent of civil excesses and random construction, as well as the looting and theft that occur in the archaeological areas. DJI Phantom 4 Pro drone was used, in addition to using the specialized Pix4D program to process drone images and make mosaics for them. Multiple flights were performed using a drone to survey multiple locations throughout the area and compare them with satellite images during different years. Drone’s data classification was implemented using a k-means clustering algorithm. The results of the data classification for three different time periods indicated that the percentage of archaeological lands decreased from 90.31% in 2004 to 25.29% in 2018. Where the work revealed the extent of the archaeological area’s great violations. The study also emphasized the importance of directing authorities of local antiquities to ensure the use of drone’s technology to obtain statistical and methodological reports periodically to assess archaeological damage and to avoid overtaking, stolen and looted of these sites.
