Opis:
The article presents the results of the content analysis of the selected examples of teacher press. The research focuses on the phenomenon of the Women’s Strike, engaging young people at an unprecedented scale in recent Polish history and significantly influencing the youth’s worldview. The research methodology, derived from Protest Event Analysis, applied quantitative and qualitative content analysis and the methods used in ecolinguistics to analyse discursive absences, defined in the form of voids, traces, and masks. The research sample comprised four titles of teacher press with issues published during and after the Women’s Strike. The analysis showed the meaningful absence of the issue of the Women’s Strike, with only some cases of presence, traces and masks, all showing an underrepresentation of the topic in the research sample. Moreover, the press research revealed significant differences between Catholic press and ideologically neutral magazines in quantitative and qualitative dimensions.

Opis:
This work proposes and justifies a clarification of the description of the crystal structure with the use of centered lattices, and concerns also the following: (1) the graphical and analytical criterion for the existence of lattice planes, described by selected Miller indices, (2) the correct way to use the parametric equation of families of planes, (3) “geometric derivation of the integral reflection conditions” and “Laue indices of Bragg peaks versus Miller indices of families of lattice planes”, (4) the characteristics of Miller indices describing nodes of reciprocal lattices for centered direct lattices, (5) the characteristics of Miller indices describing the faces of single crystals and also (6) the characteristics of the information included in Miller indices. Reciprocal lattice nodes associated with families of lattice planes in direct lattices do not form the centered lattices in the reciprocal space themselves. The centered lattices in reciprocal space are created by points with coordinates equal to the Laue indices of Bragg reflections, which are allowed by the integral systematic absences. Parts of them are not associated with any of the direct lattice planes.

Opis:
Objectives: Data on the prevalence of chronic diseases and their relationship with sickness absence in the Italian public employees are rather scarce. Therefore, in the first place, we assessed the distribution of chronic diseases in the employees of the University of Ferrara. As a next step, we investigated the possible associations between each chronic disease and cumulative days of all-cause sickness absence, and finally we investigated the odds ratio of each single chronic disease on sickness absence. Material and Methods: A total of 514 employees, 269 sick-listed and 245 not sick-listed in 2012, were studied. Demographical/clinical characteristics and chronic diseases were obtained from all study participants during medical surveillance procedures. Sickness absence days and job seniority data were obtained from the administrative office. Results: Gastrointestinal and psychiatric diseases were the most reported in the sick-listed sample (p = 0.01 and p = 0.02, respectively, compared to the not sick-listed). In the interquantile regression analysis, the sickness absence days were as - sociated with psychiatric diseases (β = 65.1, 95% CI: 13.2-117.1, p = 0.01) and with the presence of 2 or more chronic diseases (β = 23.3, 95% CI: 4.5-42, p = 0.02). Furthermore, the logistic regression analysis showed that the odds of sickness absence were increased 2 fold by psychiatric diseases (OR = 2.2, 95% CI: 1.01-4.93, p = 0.04), and gastrointestinal diseases (OR = 1.9, 95% CI:1.07-3.42, p = 0.02) and, to a lesser extent, by high body mass index (OR = 1.05, 95% CI: 1-1.11, p = 0.03). Conversely, female gender reduced by half the odds of sickness absence (OR = 0.5, 95% CI: 0.3-0.8, p = 0.04). Conclusions: This study highlights the relevant association between chronic diseases and sickness absence in Italian public employees. Our findings indicate the importance of considering the health status when designing preventive interventions aimed at decreasing sickness absences in this population.

Opis:
Most women continue to work during pregnancy. However, some of them have to stop working before giving birth. Absence from work poses several challenges for employers and employees, as well as for society. The literature on absence from work during pregnancy and its determinants remains inconsistent and rather scarce. To conduct a narrative literature review on the factors associated with work interruption and on existing interventions aimed at reducing the absence prevalence during pregnancy. The review refers to published peer-reviewed articles dealing with all types of work interruption among pregnant women. Keyword searches were performed in the electronic databases PubMed, EMBASE, and Google Scholar, covering the period 2000–2022. The review, which includes 42 papers, presents a broad and comprehensive picture of factors and interventions associated with absence from work among pregnant workers. The factors appear at different levels and include factors related to the pregnant women, such as individual health and socio-demographic factors; employer and workplace-related factors, such as risk exposures and working conditions; factors related to the role of the healthcare provider; and factors related to the national context (social benefits/insurance). The determinants of absence from work during pregnancy are complex and multifactorial and involve multiple stakeholders. The discussion addresses gaps and needs in the literature on pregnancy at work and in the field of occupational health.
