The Early Devonian metasandstones of the Jegłowa Beds (Strzelin Massif, NE Bohemian Massif) are low- to medium-grade metamorphosed siliciclastic deposits showing differences in modal composition, especially in the amount of micas and feld spars. Despite the similarity in relative concentrations of trace elements, three chemical groups can be distinguished among the metasandstones that differin the total amounts of major and trace ele ments. The negative Ta and Nb anomalies visible on a spider plot normalised to the average upper continental crust and spe cific ratios of e.g. Th, Zr, Hf, La/Th and Ti/Sc characterize the majority of the metasandstones, indicating the provenance of their sedimentary precursors from a subduction-related tectonic setting. However, few of the samples analysed show strongly differentiated geochemical characteristics with high Zr and Hf contents. This suggests input of relatively strongly reworked mate rial. Thus, it seems that a back-arc setting can account for the mixed nature of the inferred source ar eas with old basement and arcrelated detritus respectively as the end-members of the mix tures. The composition of the metasandstones indicates deposition of the siliciclastic material near an Early to Middle Devonian volcanic arc that was super imposed on rocks originally forming a part of the pre-De vo nian continental margin of the Brunovistulicum microplate. A plausible tectonic scenario in volves formation of the Devonian arc due to east-directed subduction of an oceanic domain between the Brunovistulian microcontinent in the east and the Central Sudetic terrain located fur ther west.

The herein proposed method of synthesis of the parallel robot applied as flight simulator motion system control laws came from author's 20 year experience in developing, integrating and testing the control laws and their software dedicated to different simulators. The goal of the simulator motion control law synthesis at the proposed method is not minimizing cost function taken at the beginning of that synthesis process but achieving positive assessment by the operator (e.g. pilot) team on the basis of simulator motion perception. Procedures adopted for those simulators FAT (Final Acceptance Tests) within proposed method were based on standard military equipment testing methods. Performing the final and the most important tests by the real device operators (pilots) was the new element here. The other important modification of the classical method was introducing the simulated object acceleration derivative into the filters controlling the simulator motion system. It appeared to be particularly effective in the cases of highly manoeuvrable airplane simulators.

This article presents the possibilities of using computer scanning to design a location for a sewage treatment plan taking into account its impact on the landscape. The activities undertaken could constitute a part of the proceedings carried out in performing environmental impact assessments. Completion of the goal requires literary studies and the analysis of interdisciplinary studies, including planning, land and academic research. The research has been divided into several parts, of which the first one concerns, among other things, the analysis of the value of the natural environment in a given area and analysis of the planning documents in place. The land research consists of scanning the area for the sewage treatment plant using the 3D method. The collected data will constitute the basis for the possibility of using computer scanning to visualise the development in an area of high landscape value.

The way brain networks maintain high transmission efficiency is believed to be fundamental in understanding brain activity. Brains consisting of more cells render information transmission more reliable and robust to noise. On the other hand, processing information in larger networks requires additional energy. Recent studies suggest that it is complexity, connectivity, and function diversity, rather than just size and the number of neurons, that could favour the evolution of memory, learning, and higher cognition. In this paper, we use Shannon information theory to address transmission efficiency quantitatively. We describe neural networks as communication channels, and then we measure information as mutual information between stimuli and network responses. We employ a probabilistic neuron model based on the approach proposed by Levy and Baxter, which comprises essential qualitative information transfer mechanisms. In this paper, we overview and discuss our previous quantitative results regarding brain-inspired networks, addressing their qualitative consequences in the context of broader literature. It is shown that mutual information is often maximized in a very noisy environment e.g., where only one-third of all input spikes are allowed to pass through noisy synapses and farther into the network. Moreover, we show that inhibitory connections as well as properly displaced long-range connections often significantly improve transmission efficiency. A deep understanding of brain processes in terms of advanced mathematical science plays an important role in the explanation of the nature of brain efficiency. Our results confirm that basic brain components that appear during the evolution process arise to optimise transmission performance.

The study discusses the topic of planning decisions taken for the purposes of studies prepared on the municipality level and related to the development of landslide areas in Poland. The aim of the research is to demonstrate the scale of the issue consisting in designating areas at risk of subsidence of soil masses for investment purposes. The research emphasises the essential role of planning documentation in the prevention of investment in such areas. Other vital factors also include the SOPO (Landslide Counteracting System) database as well as the staroste, who, in the course of preparation of planning documentation and issuing decisions on development conditions, issues opinions or agrees (depending on the type of document or decision) on the planned investment in areas at risk of landslides. The study shows the complexity of the spatial planning and development system in Poland and the significant influence of bodies and institutions on the planned development of areas prone to the subsidence of soil masses.

Opis:
One of the mathematical tools to measure the generation rate of new patterns along a sequence of symbols is the Lempel-Ziv complexity (LZ). Under additional assumptions, LZ is an estimator of entropy in the Shannon sense. Since entropy is considered as a measure of randomness, this means that LZ can be treated also as a randomness indicator. In this paper, we used LZ concept to the analysis of different flow regimes in cold flow combustor models. Experimental data for two combustor’s configurations motivated by efficient mixing need were considered. Extensive computer analysis was applied to develop a complexity approach to the analysis of velocity fluctuations recorded with hot-wire anemometry and PIV technique. A natural encoding method to address these velocity fluctuations was proposed. It turned out, that with this encoding the complexity values of the sequences are well correlated with the values obtained by means of RMS method (larger/smaller complexity larger/smaller RMS). However, our calculations pointed out the interesting result that most complex, this means most random, behavior does not overlap with the “most turbulent” point determined by the RMS method, but it is located in the point with maximal average velocity. It seems that complexity method can be particularly useful to analyze turbulent and unsteady flow regimes. Moreover, the complexity can also be used to establish other flow characteristics like its ergodicity or mixing.

This work presents a model-based methodology for failure mode detection of feedwater heater line working in coal-fired power unit. The main objectives of this work are as follows: (i) introduce the problem of feedwater heater diagnostics, (ii) discuss techniques used for failure modes detection, (iii) introduce a diagnostic method based on mathematical model of a feedwater heater, and (iv) validate the method basing on real operational data from a 225MW power unit. The reason for developing a new methodology is that conventional methods, which are currently used, are not efficient and do not ensure early fault detection. Therefore a more advanced approach based on adjustable phenomenological parameters (i.e. heat transfer coefficients), that are estimated from measurement data, is proposed.
W pracy przedstawiono metodologię wykrywania awarii podgrzewacza wody zasilającej pracującego w jednym z bloków elektrowni węglowej. Główne cele prowadzonych badań są następujące: (i) omówienie problemu diagnostyki grzejnika wody zasilającej, (ii) omówienie technik stosowanych do wykrywania awarii podgrzewaczy, (iii) wprowadzenie metody diagnostycznej opartej na matematycznym modelu podgrzewacza wody zasilającej, oraz (iv) weryfikacja metody w oparciu o dane zarejestrowane na 225MW bloku energetycznym. Powodem opracowania nowej metodologii jest to, że konwencjonalne metody, które są obecnie stosowane, nie są skuteczne i nie zapewniają dostatecznie wczesnego wykrywania usterek. Dlatego tez w pracy zaproponowano bardziej zaawansowane podejście oparte na dostrajaniu modelu (np. na współczynnikach przenikania ciepła) w oparciu o dane pomiarowe.

The architecture concept of a high-speed low-power analogue vision chip, which performs low-level real-time image algorithms is presented. The proof-of-concept prototype vision chip containing 32 �~ 32 photosensor array and 32 analogue processors is fabricated using a 0.35 mikrom CMOS technology. The prototype can be configured to register and process images with very high speed, reaching 2000 frames per second, or achieve very low power consumption, several mikroW. Finally, the experimental results are presented and discussed.

Opis:
An analogue median filter, realised in a 0.35 μm CMOS technology, is presented in this paper. The key advantages of the filter are: high speed of image processing (50 frames per second), low-power operation (below 1.25 mW under 3.3 V supply) and relatively high accuracy of signal processing. The presented filter is a part of an integrated circuit for image processing (a vision chip), containing: a photo-sensor matrix, a set of analogue pre-processors, and interface circuits. The analysis of the main parameters of the considered median filter is presented. The discussion of important limitations in the operation of the filter due to the restrictions imposed by CMOS technology is also presented.

Deliveries planning in transport systems is a complicated task and require taking into account a wide range of factors. Enterprises wanting to propose solutions that meet the clients’ needs and be competitive on the market must prepare their offer based on decision support systems including factors characteristic for the real process. The aim of the article is to present a concept of a decision support system based on a multi-criteria vehicle routing problem in real conditions (Real-World VRP). Taking into account the latest trends in the optimization of the delivery plan, the model includes three criteria - the cost, time and success rate of the delivery plan as a criterion relating to the quality of the delivery plan. Among other assumptions, it should be pointed out that the heterogeneous structure of the rolling stock has been taken into account, the number of which is not limited, the vehicles return to the place of origin. The travel time of the connection and the time of loading operations are random variables. The limited driver’s work time and driving time were also applied. The effect of the work presented in the article is the concept of the decision support system in the freight transport, taking into account the quality criterion of the delivery plan.

In this paper, a tuning method of a resonant circuit suited for wireless powering of miniature endoscopic capsules is presented and discussed. The method allows for an automatic tuning of the resonant frequency and matching impedance of a full wave rectifier loading the resonant circuit. Thereby, the receiver tunes so as to obtain the highest power efficiency under given conditions of transmission. A prototype receiver for wireless power reception, fabricated in in AMS CMOS 0.35 μm technology, was used to verify correct operation of the proposed tuning. The prototype system produces a stable supply voltage, adjustable in the range of 1.2–1.8 V at a maximum output current of 100–67 mA, which is sufficient to power a typical endoscopic capsule.

The paper is a result of research work carried out under the project EMITRANSYS for shaping ecological transport system. The paper presents selected aspects of emission and concentration of harmful compounds of exhaust gases generated by road transport. It also presents the share of harmful compounds emitted by road transport in comparison with the emission from other sectors of economy. Transport policy should encourage the usage of energyefficient and less environmentally damaging modes of transport and their efficient use. The paper analyses the emissions of selected pollutants and their estimated contribution to the total emissions of road transport. It also presents selected aspects of the identification of areas with the highest emissions of harmful compounds in Poland against the European Union. This analysis provides a basis to identify the instruments to prevent and reduce pollution arising from transport activities. In particular, variable emission of selected components of fumes according to the velocity of passenger vehicle. the measured values for NO2 concentration in the UE countries in 2011, the measured values for CO concentration in UE countries in 2011, the measured values for PM10 concentration in UE countries in 2011, the measured values for PM2.5 concentration in UE countries in 2011 are presented in the paper.

Opis:
Taxiing of manned and remotely piloted aircraft is still performed by pilots without using a system of automatic control of direction and speed. Several reasons have emerged in recent years that make the automation of taxiing an important design challenge. The reasons are: decreased airport capacity due to the growing number of aircraft, poor ground operation conditions during poor visibility conditions, an increase in workload of pilots and air traffic controllers and the integration of simultaneous ground operations of manned and remotely piloted air vehicles. This paper presents selected aspects of the concept of a Low Level Automatic Taxi Control System In particular, it emphasizes the means of controlling an aircraft during taxiing, accuracy requirements of the system and proposes control techniques. The resulting controller of the system is adaptable for different aircrafts. The actuators and their mechanical connections to available controls are the aircraft specific part and are designed for the particular type - in this case - a general aviation light airplane.
Kołowanie samolotów załogowych oraz zdalnie sterowanych jest obecnie wykonywane przez pilotów bez wykorzystania systemów automatycznego sterowania kierunkiem i prędkością. W ostatnich latach pojawiło się kilka przesłanek, które uczyniły automatyzację kołowania ważnym wyzwaniem projektowym. Są nimi: obniżona przepustowość portów lotniczych z powodu zwiększającej się liczby samolotów; obniżona wydajność operacji naziemnych w warunkach słabej widzialności, zwiększone obciążenie pilotów oraz kontrolerów: ruchu lotniczego i integracja równoczesnych operacji naziemnych samolotów' załogowych oraz zdalnie sterowanych. W pracy zaprezentowano wybrane aspekt}' koncepcji Niskopoziomowego Systemu Automatycznego Sterowania Kołowaniem. W szczególności skupiono się na sposobach sterowania samolotem w trakcie kołowania, wymaganiach odnośnie dokładności systemu i zaproponowano metodę sterowania. Regulator systemu może być zaadaptowany dla różnych samolotów. Mechanizmy wykonawcze oraz ich mechaniczne połączenia z dostępnymi elementami sterującymi samolotem są częścią systemu specyficzną dla danego samolotu i są zaprojektowane dla konkretnego typu - w tym przypadku - lekkiego samolotu general aviation.
