Opis:
Theoretical background: Today, people use more systems and devices than ever, no matter the context. These behaviors are most often explained using technology acceptance models, including the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology 2 (UTAUT2), which is a new and prominent technology acceptance theory.Purpose of the article: The aim of this article is to identify any interpretable trends and draw overall conclusions about the existing UTAUT2 literature, which helps to fill the gap which is lack of such review for UTAUT2 model.Research methods: Descriptive review analysis of 23 articles based on the partial UTAUT2 model.Main findings: The UTAUT2 is an efficient theory – the average explained variance of behavioral intention was 62% and for use behavior – 37%. It is highly recommended to use the performance expectancy variable in all research contexts based on the UTAUT2 model. Utilitarian aspects turned out to be more important than hedonic ones for most technology adopters. Commercial organisations should focus on delivering reliable and useful products and underline these features in marketing communication.

Opis:
Acute pulmonary embolism (APE) is one of the main causes of cardiovascular deaths and anticoagulant treatment plays a key role in preventing recurrent episodes, chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH), and deaths. The aim of this study is to assess the real-life trends and to determine factors associated with the choice of anticoagulation therapy in patients with APE. This is a single center prospective open study. We followed 178 consecutive patients admitted to the tertiary clinical center with APE proven with computed tomography (CT) scan within period of 24 months. A total number of 178 patients with APE were enrolled in the study. 48.9% of subjects were hospitalized in cardiology department. As a prolonged anticoagulant therapy 35.7% of study cohort received direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs), 35.1% LMWH, and 29.2% vitamin K antagonists (VKA), respectively. No statistically significant differences were found between the departments regarding frequency of prescribing anticoagulants (p=0.15). The multivariable analysis showed that oral anti-coagulants (OACs) were less likely to be prescribed than LMWH in patients with malignancy, history of major bleeding, serious medical condition and altered mental status. OACs were preferred over LMWH in symptoms of deep vein thrombosis (DVT). VKA were significantly less likely to be chosen than DOACs in patients with history of orthopaedics procedure. After six months anticoagulation therapy was discontinued in 24.3% of patients. Concluding, the form of anticoagulant therapy was associated with the presence of chronic diseases. LMWH was prescribed in high bleeding risk patients more frequently.

Opis:
To compare the scale of self-treatment in a population of students of the Medical University of Bialystok in 2012 and 2017. Material and methods. The study included 217 students in 2012 and 220 students in 2017, and used a proprietary questionnaire. Results. A total of 78.8% of students in 2012 and 86.4% in 2017 were familiar with the meaning of the abbreviation OT C. When using an OT C drug for the first time, most students consulted a nurse (66.4%) in 2012, while in 2017, students usually consulted a family member (68.8%). Headache was the main reason for using OT C drugs (89.4% in 2012, and 92.7% in 2017). The use of analgesics (87.1%) and the use of OT C medicines in accordance with the leaflet (47%) predominated in 2012, while vitamin therapy (83.2%) took first place in 2017. When purchasing OT C medications, students usually based their decision on their own experience (63.1% in 2012 and 84.1% in 2017). A total of 35.5% of the students in 2012 and 39.1% in 2017 always read the leaflet. Conclusions. Self-medication was practiced by most students in both years, with lack of time for a medical appointment being the main reason. Over the last 6 months, the students most often used prescription and non-prescription drugs simultaneously
