Opis:
The paper discusses the well-known logic paradox formulated by Grelling. It belongs to the class of paradoxes known as Russell's paradoxes. Analysing Grelling‟s paradox, the author arrives at the conclusion showing its apparent nature, in other words resolving the problem.

Opis:
Word Sense Disambiguation in text remains a difficult problem as the best supervised methods require laborious and costly manual preparation of training data. On the other hand, the unsupervised methods yield significantly lower precision and produce results that are not satisfying for many applications. Recently, an algorithm based on weakly-supervised learning for WSD called Lexicographer-Controlled Semi-automatic Sense Disambiguation (LexCSD) was proposed. The method is based on clustering of text snippets including words in focus. For each cluster we find a core, which is labelled with a word sense by a human, and is used to produce a classifier. Classifiers, constructed for each word separately, are applied to text. The goal of this work is to evaluate LexCSD trained on large volume of untagged text. A comparison showed that the approach is better than most frequent sense baseline in most cases.

English and Spanish clusters
Opis:
The paper offers a study of word-medial clusters in English and Spanish according to parameters established by Beats-and-Binding Phonology [e.g. Dziubalska-Kołaczyk 1995, 2002, 2009]. The discussion shows that a syllable-less explanation allows provides insights which are not evident in syllable-based paradigms. Clusters are evaluated and discussed in two groups: Spanish and English doubles and triples (plus more). The discussion also shows that B&B Phonology is compatible with an ecological perspective towards language study.

Opis:
We investigate two methods of identifying noun senses, based on clustering of lemmas and of documents. We have adapted to Polish the well-known algorithm of Clustering by Committee, and tested it on very large Polish corpora. The evaluation by means of a WordNet-based synonymy test used Polish wordnet (plWordNet 1.0). Various clustering algorithms were analysed for the needs of extraction of document clusters as indicators of the senses of words which occur in them. The two approaches to wordsense identification have been compared, and conclusions drawn.

Opis:
In the paper the concept of a training system is presented which can help to stimulate sensory-motor cortex centers in order to develop their ability for efficient use of bioprosthesis. The basis of the training system is a virtual reality with a virtual hand, that the trained patient can move and concurrently observe the movement on the screen (visual feedback) and whose contact with virtual objects the patient may feel as a touch (sensory feedback). The construction of the virtual hand consists of physical elements, connected by joints, a graphical object representing the structure of the hand and the bones enable its deformation. The control procedure of virtual hand is realized through recognition of intention of hand motion on the basis of EMG signals coming from the stump muscles. The recognition algorithm is constructed using the learning set, i.e the set of pairs containing the class of hand fingers movement and accompanying myopotentials segments, which are acquired from the muscles of healthy hand.
