Opis:
In the paper, dynamic investigations of multi-mass discrete-continuous systems torsionally deformed are performed taking into account the position-dependent mass moment of inertia of one of rigid bodies. It is assumed that the rigid body representing a motor moves with a variable velocity. An originally nonlinear problem is linearized, and the wave approach leading to solving equations with a retarded argument having variable coefficients is used for the solution. Exemplary numerical calculations are done for a three-mass system.

Opis:
The main purpose of this contribution is the control of both torsional and axial vibrations occurring along a rotary oilwell drilling system. The model considered consists of a wave equation coupled to an ordinary differential equation (ODE) through a nonlinear function describing the rock–bit interaction. We propose a systematic method to design feedback controllers guaranteeing ultimate boundedness of the system trajectories and leading consequently to the suppression of harmful dynamics. The proposal of a Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional provides stability conditions stated in terms of the solution of a set of linear and bilinear matrix inequalities (LMIs, BMIs). Numerical simulations illustrate the efficiency of the obtained control laws.

Opis:
A new mathematical model for prediction of a two-dimensional wave motion in shallow water is presented herein. It can be applied to investigate shoaling, diffraction, refraction, breaking, bottom friction and wave run-up on a beach, as well as mass transport and orbital motion. The model also includes an oblique wave approach to the shore and irregular bottom topography. Such engineering constructions as seawalls, breakwaters and groins are simulated numerically. Simple results of computations, shown in graphic form, indicate possible practical applications of the model.

Opis:
The Green’s function approach is applied for studying the exact and approximate null-controllability of a finite rod in finite time by means of a source moving along the rod with controllable trajectory. The intensity of the source remains constant. Applying the recently developed Green’s function approach, the analysis of the exact null-controllability is reduced to an infinite system of nonlinear constraints with respect to the control function. A sufficient condition for the approximate null-controllability of the rod is obtained. Since the exact solution of the system of constraints is a long-standing open problem, some heuristic solutions are used instead. The efficiency of these solutions is shown on particular cases of approximate controllability.

Opis:
Numerical calculations of the values of phase, amplitude and wave functions for the nucleon-nucleon potential Argonne v18 are carried out using the variable phase approach. Peculiarities of the behavior of these functions are described for coordinates up to 7 fm and with energies of interaction Еlab = 1; 50; 100; 150; 250; 350 MeV. 1S0-, 1P1-, 3P0-, 3P1-, 1D2-, 3D2-, 1F3-, 3F3-, 1G4-, 3G4- states for the np- system are considered. The obtained graphic materials for the indicated functions can help to give a better and more complete quantum mechanical representation of the scattering phase and scattering amplitudes for the neuron-proton scattering, as well as better understand and supplement the data for the problem of scalar amplitude and the full cross-section of the nucleon-nucleon scattering.

Opis:
Compared to the traditional integer order viscoelastic model, a fractional order derivative viscoelastic model is shown to be advantageous. The characteristics of guided circumferential waves in an anisotropic fractional order Kelvin–Voigt viscoelastic hollow cylinder are investigated by a quadrature-free Legendre polynomial approach combining the Weyl definition of fractional order derivatives. The presented approach can obtain dispersion solutions in a stable manner from an eigenvalue/eigenvector problem for the calculation of wavenumbers and displacement profiles of viscoelastic guided wave, which avoids a lot of numerical integration calculation in a traditional polynomial method and greatly improves the computational efficiency. Comparisons with the related studies are conducted to validate the correctness of the presented approach. The full three dimensional spectrum of an anisotropic fractional Kelvin–Voigt hollow cylinder is plotted. The influence of fractional order and material parameters on the phase velocity dispersion and attenuation curves of guided circumferential wave is discussed in detail. Moreover, the difference of the phase velocity dispersion and attenuation characteristics between the Kelvin–Voigt and hysteretic viscoelastic models is also illustrated. The presented approach along with the observed wave features should be particularly useful in non-destructive evaluations using waves in viscoelastic waveguides.
