visual narration - Opis:
- The analysis of Thé Tjong-Khing’s picture book Where Is the Cake? is here a starting point for introducing differentiations between thinking in a logic and scientific way and narrative thinking (Bruner 2010), as well as presenting the way of constructing a story related by pictures that we may come across in comic books. Ordering reading and segmentation of data given by pictures are the basis here, and as a consequence the story gets through to us as a sequence of pictures offering us a chance to take a look at the represented world that is mutual for all presentations. Stories in comic books are based on strong conventionalization of pictures due to which researchers often think of these pictures as artistically uninteresting or neglect them. However, they are crucial elements of contemporary visual culture.
