    This article deals with the implications of Alexander Vertinsky stay in Poland in the 1920s. Literary works of this representative of the first wave of Russian emigration enjoyed great popularity in the interwar period in Poland. Hence, he frequently gave concerts to a number of Polish cities and towns. The singer has made numerous acquaintances in all social circles, also in the artistic milieu, which until today eagerly reaches for his repertoire. The artist recorded many of his works and composed several hits in Poland. Vertinsky was not forgotten. His music scores, records, poetry books and memoirs were also published after his death

    A well-known Russian bard, Alexander Vertinsky, like many other representatives of the first wave of Russian emigration, left behind his unfinished memoirs in which he writes of over two decades of homeless wandering around the world (1920-1943). During that time he stayed, among others, in many European countries, the USA and China. And it was in Shanghai in the early 1940s that the singer began to write down his reminiscences. After returning to his homeland, Vertinsky continued his literary work, which undoubtedly left its mark on the content of memoirs. Nevertheless, the leitmotif of Vertinsky’s memoirs is both the image of old Russia scented with nostalgic feelings, and of Russian emigrants embodying his homeland.

    Alexander Vertinsky belongs to the group of representatives of the first wave of Russian emigration, whose refugee history interwove with Poland. The article discusses the issue of the singer’s multiple stays in Poland in the interwar period. While visiting our country, the artist gave concerts in many cities, recorded albums, collaborated with the “second stream theatre”, and made numerous acquaintances, among others, in the environment of actors, writers and politicians.

    Khristina Krotkova is recognised as a representative of the First Wave of Russian Emigration, she was also a member of literary association “Skit”. Krotkova’s Italian Sonnets form crown of sonnets consisting of 14 poems. Only the title of the cycle concerns the Italian theme, as the crown is formally composed of English sonnets. Italian culture, architecture monuments, masterpieces of literature and painting as well as Italian nature inspired Krotkova and became the pretext to existential and epistemological deliberations.

    The subject of analysis in this article is the poetic complex of the sea in the poetry of Galina Kuznetsova, a poet representing the “first wave” of Russian emigration. In the Olive Orchard (Олив-ковый сад, 1937), the only poetry book she published, the sea appears as a source of aesthetic sen-sations, but above all it is an impulse for existential reflections of the narrative subject, a projection of his mental states and an explanation of her artistic worldview.In the analysis of maritime themes in Kuznetsova’s poetry, Vladimir Toporov’s research was used. according to which the poetic complex of the sea is determined by the psychophysiological structure of the author of the text and is a carrier of non-poetic realities.

    The aim of this article is to analyze the narrative poem Don Juan by Nikolai Otsup – a poet of the first wave of Russian emigration. Otsup’s work is being compared with the poem The Commander’s Footsteps by Aleksandr Blok and the narrative poem Komandorov’s Footsteps by David Samoilov. The author pays attention to the similarities in poetic images, sound and colouristic symbols. Thanks to the contextualization of Otsup’s narrative poem, the author discovers a common tendency in creating the poetic image of the Commander and in the motif of revenge in the Russian poetry of the first half of the 20th century.
    Предметом интереса в данной статье является поэма Дон Жуан Николая Оцупа – поэта первой волны русской эмиграции. Поэма подвергается сравнительному анализу со стихотворением Александра Блока Шаги Командора и с поэмой Давида Самойлова Шаги Командорова. Автором делается ряд замечаний по поводу общих для поэтов образов, символов, звуковых и цветовых характеристик. Анализ выбранных стихотворений приводит автора к раскрытию общей тенденции изображения Командора и разработки мотива расплаты в русской поэзии первой половины XX столетия.

    Настоящая статья посвящена Лидии Сеницкой (Волынцевой, 1890?-1975), поэтессе, писательнице, переводчику и литературному критику, представительнице «первой волны» русской эмиграции, которая до 1939 года жила в городе Ровно на Волыни, затем в Варшаве (1939-1964) и в США. Воспринимаемая и своими ровесниками, и современными исследователями как одна из самых интересных фигур литературы русской эмиграции в межвоенной Польше, Сеницкая в принципе забыта, а ее творчество неизвестно сегодняшним читателям. В статье предпринята попытка приблизить поэзию Сеницкой, определить ее тематику и основные свойства поэтики.
    This article concerns Lidya Senitskaya (Volyntseva, 1890?-1975), poet, writer, playwright, translator and literary critic, representative of the „first wave” of the Russian emigration, living until 1939 in Równe, then (1939-1964) in Warsaw, and later on in the USA. Considered by her contemporaries as one of the most interesting creators of the Russian diaspora in pre-war Poland, she is now regarded by contemporary researchers as an unquestionable poetic individuality. Today Senitskaya is a completely forgotten figure, and her work is unknown to the contemporary readers. The article is an attempt to present the poet’s creative silhouette, determine and discuss the subject matter and poetics of her poems.      
    Artykuł poświęcono Lidii Sienickiej (Wołyncewej, 1890?-1975), poetce, pisarce, tłumaczce i krytykowi literackiemu, przedstawicielce "pierwszej fali" emigracji rosyjskiej, mieszkającej do 1939 roku w Równem na Wołyniu, natępnie w Warszawie (1939-1964) i USA. Postrzegana przez sobie współczesnych i dzisiejszych badaczy jako jedna z najciekawszych postaci rosysjkiej emigracji w międzywojennej Polsce, Sienicka jest twórczynią niemal zupełnie zapomnianą, a jej dorobek artystyczny nieznany polskim czytelnikom. W artykule podjęto próbę przybliżenia poezji Sienickiej, omówienia jej tematyki i poetyki.
