Opis:: Parents who are to confront a disabled child expect that they will be provided with a wide range of specialists such as doctors and therapists and that they will be given a lot of support coming from the environment since it determines their role in supporting their child’s therapeutic and educational process. In the hereby article the author presents her own research results picturing the views of the parents of a child with special needs concerning social support they receive while making first decisions, organising therapeutic help and searching for their role in the rehabilitation process of their disabled child. The author emphasises that parents should have constant access to important information, unfortunately its lack has become a matter of complaint among parents. The text points out the importance of the relationship between a parent and a therapist, which has a major influence on the quality and success of the disabled child therapy.

Opis:: This article discusses the practical approaches to organising and implementing activities aimed at supporting musical abilities in the pre-school educational process. It presents the issues of the relevance and necessity of selecting educational tasks which take into account the interests, musical talents and individuality identified for a particular child. The progress of an individual in terms of musical skills, constituting a specific value of the musical abilities of a child, results from implementing the described organisational and methodological improvements, which create opportunities to experience a variety of forms of musical activity. An analysis of the author’s own research, demonstrating children’s musical achievements and skills, is used in the article to point out the value of pre-school education in this process.
W artykule zaprezentowano praktyczne sposoby organizowania i realizowania działań wspierających rozwój kompetencji muzycznych w procesie edukacji przedszkolnej. Ukazano kwestie zasadności i konieczności doboru zadań edukacyjnych, uwzględniających diagnozę zainteresowań, uzdolnień muzycznych i indywidualność każdego dziecka. Efektem realizacji opisanych innowacji organizacyjno-metodycznych, stwarzających możliwość doświadczania w różnorodnych formach aktywności muzycznej, jest indywidualny progres w zakresie umiejętności muzycznych, stanowiących indywidualną wartość kompetencji muzycznych dziecka. W artykule wykorzystano analizę wyników badań własnych, ukazujących osiągnięcia i umiejętności muzyczne, oraz wskazano wartość edukacji przedszkolnej w tym procesie.

Opis:: The study showed that mothers in both groups know about the benefits of taking up musical activity during pregnancy. However, they differ in their assessment of these advantages, such as faster development of the child’s hearing and musical abilities, or the occurrence after birth of reactions to music the child knows from the fetal period. Statistical differences were also found in the responses concerning the ways of acquiring knowledge on musical development in the prenatal period. More young women sought it out on the Internet, in scientific literature, in women’s magazines, at universities, or at gynecology clinics, and admitted that they indeed had such knowledge. The respondents, however, were consistent in their assessment of the pe-riod during which the child begins to hear, and in their responses to the most important stages of the child’s musical development. The musical activity of women during pregnancy differed in many respects between the compared groups. It was found that more women who had recently given birth engaged in it advisedly, aware of the impact of music on the child. Moreover, the respondents differed in terms of how often they engaged in singing, listening to music, moving in time to music, and attending concerts of popular music, with the young mothers again being more active in this respect. Statistically, more younger women also sang lullabies and poetry, and listened to clas-sical, popular music, rock, hip-hop, reggae, and jazz.Further differences were related to the findings of the respondents concerning their children’s reactions to music in the prenatal and neonatal periods. It was demonstrated that more young women observed increased fetal mobility in response to music. They also noticed in their newborn children preferences for certain songs, particularly ones they knew from the prenatal period, along with such reactions as smiling, directing attention to the source of the sound, or giving the impression of listening to music. Young mothers were also more aware of the relationship between musical activity during pregnancy and after childbirth and later musical behavior. The results obtained in the present study should be explained by the dynamic growth of knowledge on human musical development of over the past several decades, and by its growing popularization. This is related not only to the increase of young mothers’ awareness of the benefits of prenatal musical stimulation of children, but also to taking specific actions, which gives hope for better use of its developmental potential.
