Aim. The aim of the article is to identify and describe internet-consumption behavioral patterns that have been common after the Covid-19 restrictions have been lifted. Concept. In July 2022, we conducted a quantitative research based on an online survey in which 800 members for the Slovak Generation Z participated. Results. The results indicate a notable decrease in the quantity of time the Slovak Generation Z members spend daily online, when compared to the time of the Covid-19 pandemic, but the average daily time spent online never returned to the numbers typical for the pre-Covid times. Conclusion. Our data are an asset to the general knowledge base about the Slovak Generation Z internet-consumption behavioral patterns, but they are also specifically relevant for the disciplines of marketing, and mass-media communication, that view the Generation Z cohort as a part of  the global audience. Cognitive value. The article contributes to the growing knowledge-base about the internet-consumption behavioral patterns of the (Slovak) Generation Z, and as such could be  valuable for building theories about this part of the audience between the years 2020 and 2030, which will be a pivotal time for the development of marketing, internet and mass-media communication and the changes that will occur along with the change of the dominant position from the Generation Y to Generation Z, when it comes to the influence on the world’s mass-media markets, but also in other segments.

The purpose of the publication is to indicate the need for a well thought-out combination of quantitative marketing research with qualitative research. The result of this research approach should be a fuller understanding of the research problem and the ability to interpret results more closely, while maintaining the reliability of the whole research process. In the theoretical part of the article, the essence of quantitative and qualitative research, with particular emphasis on the limitations and strengths of both research approaches, is presented. The increasing popularity of qualitative research does not absolve researchers from the prudent attitude towards the whole marketing research process − including the need to verify hypotheses or research questions. Excessive simplification in the approach to qualitative research can distort the essence of marketing research. In the empirical part of the article, the authors presented an example of combining quantitative marketing research with qualitative research − for this purpose, the results of their research will be used (scientific grant from National Science Centre). The CAPI technique (n = 1103) was used in the quantitative study, and observation diaries (n = 110) were used for qualitative research.

Content presented in this article is focused on the reflection of the factors determining the choice of research strategy in the analysis of school environment. Some of the elements to be examined refer to the structural and functional model of a school, others to the interpretative model. As the assumptions about the nature of school reality are completely different within these models, depending on how the school is perceived, there are different ways of designing and conducting research. It is arguable whether derived from a structural and functional model of school (the school as an environment education, positivist paradigm) only quantitative analysis are justified, and after the adoption of the interactive model (the school as a system of socio-cultural, interpretative paradigm) only qualitative research should be conducted? The choice, at the first glance, quite obvious is a matter of more complex, because the strategy of research procedure also depends on some another factors: the order in which the study is carried out, the subject and the scope of the analysis, the experience of the researcher and to some extent, to the fact who are beneficients of the results. In the first part of this article author is trying to deal with these relationships, in the second part, there are presented a few examples of analysis when using qualitative methods or strategies. Most of them are realized within the model of so-called mixed research. They are only some examples presented and they should be understood as exemplifications, not in –depth exploration. Described problems might be explained and explored in the future using other methods and techniques, as well as combining them.

Some consider the multiculturality of Wrocław to be its obvious and socially legitimised “property”, whereas others view it as controversial and refutable construct. In the paper, we would like to investigate the multiculturality of the Lower Silesia’s capital taking into account its internal differentiation, which is mostly due to the adjudicating authorities – city authorities, its citizens and researchers - as well as observable dynamics. Hence, we propose to inspect the following: firstly, the real differentiation of the social structure of Wrocław’s inhabitants and its transformations related mostly to the influx of Ukrainians, who change the ethnic cityscape; secondly, the politics of municipal authorities regarding the promotion and strengthening of the city’s image as the multicultural, open and tolerant “meeting place”, as well as initiatives inscribed therein and other observable, contradictory events; thirdly, the evaluation of Wrocław’s multiculturality and its selected aspects performed by the city’s inhabitants and revealed in the research on this phenomenon in 2011 and in two editions of Social Diagnosis of Wrocław (2014 and 2017).

A child's entry into primary school is an important life event for parents that is accompanied not just by the child’s expectations but also those of the parents themselves. We have attempted to interpret them in the present study, which presents the results of a quantitative research investigation conducted through random multi-stage stratified sampling based on analysing relevant surveys and building on the authors' previous qualitative investigations. The sample studied was 504 parents of pupils in Years 1 and 2 who attended selected primary schools in the 2020/2021 school year. The main data collection tool was an online questionnaire that mapped primary school choice strategies and parents' expectations of the school, schooling, and teachers. These factors were then examined in relation to the variable choice of an educational program and parents' attitudes toward education (an academic approach versus a personalistic one). We found that parents' expectations of school choice are principally divided according to whether respondents believe school should fulfil the more traditional role of education or whether they prefer their children to develop their personalities and seek an alternative educational program or school for their offspring.

The paper overviews the outcomes of quantitative research concerning the factors determining the educational decisions made by the high school graduates, prospective students, students, as well as and university graduates in Poland. The first part presents implications of the widened access to higher education and the employability prospects for future graduates. Next, the author discusses the results of selected surveys. The special focus of these surveys is placed on the importance of future career prospects in the students’ decision making process (in other words, to what extent the candidates take into account their future employability while applying to a particular university or faculty).

Globalisation in education sector, intense competition between universities in Latvia, increase in requirements of applied teaching from private companies, growing exactingness from students – it all makes base to improve University curricula using different active teaching techniques for better knowledge capture. In the case study of University of Latvia tourism study programme authors included practice of active teaching method application used to improve student understanding and competences including research, surveys, observations, shadowing, monitoring and register of the tourist tracks, expert interviews and industry seminars, discussions and interviews with industry stakeholders, field trips, different tourism sector enterprise and organisation visits inspections, colloquiums, research result presentations in seminars and conferences, knowledge enhancing for sustainability, best practices and systems used by other countries. Many of active learning methods are as additional activities for students not included in the compulsory part of studies, therefore it is needed to establish an additional separate entity for tourism and sustainability activities for applied teaching and research at university – Tourism and Sustainability Research Laboratory. Separate research entity gives possibility to involve interested students from different study programmes and cooperation with other faculties.

Purpose: Miles and Snow’s conception of strategic types is the most popular and extensively studied typology of strategic choices. Consequently, in recent years it has been related to organizational performance measures. Despite numerous studies conducted in different environmental and organizational settings, the research results of relationships between strategic types and organizational performance are ambiguous. In this paper, we seek to advance the knowledge regarding how a chosen strategic type affects organizational performance measures in the transition economy of Poland. Methodology: Using quantitative research results, on the basis of data from 96 organizations we statistically test four research hypotheses. Findings: Research results reveal the existence of “clear” strategic types in majority of companies but highlight moderately strong relationships between declared strategic type and organizational performance. In turn, they suggest that Prospector and Analyzer strategic types promise slightly higher performance than Reactor and Defender types. Originality: This research project on strategic types in SMEs in a transition economy is one of few dealing with this topic that have been conducted in Eastern European countries to date.

The study of adult participation in education and the examination of the factors that influence their final decision is one of the most critical issues in the field. This article summarises the findings of empirical research on adult engagement in evening schools in Greece, with an emphasis on evening schools in the Greek islands. Evening schools started in Greece around 60 years ago. These schools, now part of the secondary education system, are primarily aimed towards those who work during the day (mostly adults). Their goal is to provide the opportunity for adults who, for some reason, interrupted their studies in Gymnasium (lower secondary/middle school) or Lyceum (upper secondary/high school) to complete it. There has never been a study on residents of Greek islands who participate in educational programmes of this nature. The presented research investigates factors that impact adult participation in all evening schools administratively situated in Greek islands. Between February and May 2022, 268 adult students participated in the study by completing a survey questionnaire that was quantitatively evaluated using SPSSs. The sample comes from all the islands where evening Lyceums operate. To determine the elements that influence participation, the data was submitted to component analysis using the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) approach. Four of the discovered factors are deemed critical (self-assessment, attitudes towards education, educational perspective and expectations), while others seem somewhat relevant and have a role.

This study aims to explore the effect of animation on students’ learning process and compare the learning outcomes between animation-based and traditional teaching methods. The research questions hypothesize that animation enhances the learning process, attention, retention, reproduction and motivation in students. This study employed quantitative methodology by using an experiment involving two separate groups: the experimental group, which received instruction with animated videos, and the control group, which received a traditional teaching method. The sample size consisted of 170 students, with an equal distribution of male and female participants from grade levels 3 to 6, with 85 students in each group. The analysis of the data reveals that animation has a significant effect on the learning process. Students exposed to animation-based teaching methods exhibit higher levels of attention retention, better reproduction of learned material, and increased motivation compared to those following traditional teaching methods. These findings support the created research questions that animation positively influences students’ learning outcomes.

Specyficznym rodzajem przemocy rówieśniczej jest bullying(dręczenie). Zjawisko to jest w swej istocie niezwykle złożone. Stanowi konfigurację trzech właściwości, do których powszechnie zalicza się: intencjonalność działań sprawcy, nierównowagę siły i powtarzalność zachowań w czasie, które mogą przybierać różne formy. Badania poświęcone dręczeniu szkolnemu prowadzone są na całym świecie już od ponad czterech dekad. Mają one najczęściej charakter badań ilościowych w dużych próbach, których głównym celem jest ustalenie rozmiarów zjawiska, jego częstotliwości i dotkliwości. Powściągliwość w prowadzeniu badań jakościowych w tym zakresie jest zaskakująca, biorąc pod uwagę społeczny charakter zjawiska i potrzebę poznania jego kontekstu. W tekście zwrócono uwagę na odczuwaną w coraz większym stopniu potrzebę badań jakościowych dotyczących dręczenia szkolnego i dokonano przeglądu istniejących badań z tego zakresu. Stwierdzono, że badania te podejmują dwa główne problemy badawcze, tj. znaczenia przypisywane zachowaniom związanym z dręczeniem szkolnym oraz kontekst tych zachowań. Zaprezentowano ważniejsze osiągnięcia tych studiów empirycznych. Skonstatowano, że badania jakościowe wypełniają dostrzeżone luki w wiedzy na temat dręczenia szkolnego i odkrywają nowe jego wątki mogące stać się inspiracją do dalszych studiów. Ponadto za sprawą jakościowych badań bullyingu uchwycić można wiele jego niuansów i skontekstualizowanego rozumienia poszczególnych, znaczących dla zjawiska czynników.
The specific type of peer violence is bullying. This phenomenon is extremely complex. It is a configuration of three properties, which are commonly referred to as intentional harmdoing by perpetrator, imbalance of power, and repetitive behavior in time, which can take different forms. Research on school bullying has been conducted all over the world for more than four decades. They are usually quantitative in nature and conducted on large samples, because of main purpose which is to determine the size of the phenomenon, its frequency and severity. Restraint in conducting qualitative research in this area is surprising, considering the social nature of this phenomenon and the need to know its context. The article emphasizes the increasing need for qualitative research dedicated to school bullying and reviews of existing research in this area. It has been found that these empirical studies address two main research problems, i.e. (1) the meanings attributed to school bullying behavior, and (2) the context of these behaviors. The most important achievements of these empirical studies were presented. It has been established that qualitative research fills in the gaps in knowledge about school bullying and unleashes new topics that can inspire further studies. In addition, due to the qualitative research of bullying, several its nuances and contextual factors significant for understanding of the phenomenon can be captured.

The article looks at the existing approaches in the intergenerational mobility research, their axiological foundations, as well as cognitive and practical consequences. In the mainstream sociological debate, as well as wider public debate, intergenerational mobility is assumed to be an adequate indicator of open, democratic society based on the equal opportunities. Most of the research efforts have been focused on identifying main barriers of mobility and main drivers of social advancement. However, in-depth studies reveal the complexity of both individual mobility and structural social fluidity as the phenomena concealing the consequences of growing social polarization. The paper briefly maps the approaches applied in intergenerational mobility research with special focus on questions which still stay understudied in the Polish context.

The purpose of this article is to present and analyze the foundations and premises of Nazi cultural policy, and the bodies responsible for its implementation, the two most important ones being: National Socialist Society for German Culture and the Ministry of National Enlightenment and Propaganda of the Reich. Policy in this case is interpreted as intentional activity of the authorities in the field of culture, aimed at influencing the attitudes and identity of the population of the Third Reich. The analysis covers the most important documents, statements and declarations of politicians and their actual activity in this domain. Adopting such a broad perspective allowed to comprehensively show both the language and the specific features of the messages communicated by the Nazi authorities, and its impact on cultural practices.
