    Miasta historyczne stanowią szczególną kategorię ośrodków miejskich w Polsce, a z uwagi na potencjał kulturowy ważnym kierunkiem ich rozwoju staje się współcześnie turystyka i sektory z nią powiązane. Jednym z takich sektorów jest tzw. gospodarka nocna (ang. night-time economy, w skrócie NTE) identyfikowana na podstawie kryterium dostępności czasowej (21:00–5:00) i kryterium funkcjonalnego (jako ogół działalności zaspokajających szeroko rozumiane potrzeby wolnoczasowe ludzi poza ich domem w porze nocnej). Celem artykułu jest charakterystyka gospodarki nocnej w historycznej dzielnicy śródmiejskiej Krakowa – Kazimierzu. Autorzy, opierając się na przeprowadzonej w 2019 r. inwentaryzacji terenowej oraz wywiadach z przedstawicielami lokalnej społeczności, zobrazowali przestrzenne i funkcjonalne aspekty tego zjawiska.
    Historic cities constitute a special category of urban area in Poland. Due to their cultural potential, tourism and related sectors are currently becoming an important development direction. One such sector is their night-time economy, identified on the basis of a time criterion (21:00-5:00), and a functional criterion (understood as all activities that meet people’s broad leisure needs outside their home during the night). The aim of the article is to describe the night-time economy in one historical central district of Kraków – Kazimierz. The authors, based on a field inventory conducted in 2019, and interviews with representatives of the local community, have illustrated the spatial and functional aspects of this phenomenon.

    The validity of acts of service in Polish civil procedure law depends on the moment at which it is carried out. Unfortunately, the current statutory regulation does not seem to be a holistic regulation. The structure of acts of service adopted in the aforementioned regulation refers only to the character of daily rhythm of life of a natural person who is an addressee or recipient of a document. It certainly does not take into account the specificity of functioning of some groups of legal entities with a more complicated organizational and functional structure, in particular those having the status of an entrepreneur (including natural persons) and conducting their activity in other time of day than those specified by law or within the framework of continuous movement. Moreover, aforementioned legal solution referring only to the conventional procedure of service of documents has not been adopted at all for the purposes of electronic delivery trading. The current code regulation pertaining to the appropriate moment of service seems, by virtue of its function, to be in all measure necessary, protecting the important sphere of privacy of entities engaged in the field of service as addressees of documents. However, it should be comprehensive in nature. In the context of the procedural law, with a few exceptions, delivery cannot be successfully made on public holidays and at night. Due to the flexibility of creating a work schedule at individual employers, the current solution does not seem to be optimal. The addressee’s consent to service on a public holiday or during night time – in the absence of a prior order of the president of the court – it does not invalidate such action, it remains ineffective. The effectiveness of service, preceded by a relevant order of the president of the court, is independent of the addressee’s consent to receive the letter in the indicated time frames. De lege ferenda, one should consider either separating the structure of the determination of the appropriate moment of service of documents from the existing system of working time distribution adopted on the basis of substantive labor law regulation (which selectively and unjustifiably predestines only one group of addressees of letters – natural persons being employees), or adapting it in a systemic way to the existing solutions in the field of labor law.

    W artykule omówiono transport publiczny w godzinach nocnych w Pozaniu. Nie jest to już tylko usługa socjalna umożliwiająca najuboższym dotarcie do pracy późnym wieczorem czy bardzo wcześnie rano, ale usługa mająca istotny wpływ na atrakcyjność oferty gastronomicznej i kulturalnej miasta, a także przyczyniającą sę - poprzez zapewnienie mobilności przez całą dobę - do wyboru transportu publicznego zamiast samochodu. Zmiana roli nocnego transportu publicznego wymusza poświęcenie większej uwagi jakości usług. Stan i lokalizacja przystanków odgrywają tu ważną, choć nadal niedocenioną rolę.

    W artykule przedstawiono praktykowane przez wyznawców islamu w krajach Maghrebu wydarzenia znamienne dla ramadanu, dziewiątego miesiąca kalendarza muzułmańskiego, miesiąca postu. Ramadan wprowadza inwersję dnia i nocy. Podjęty temat narzucił rozważania o istocie czasu, a zwłaszcza o specyfice rozumienia czasu, jak również o nocy w islamie. Sposób świętowania ramadanu został ukazany poprzez zachowania mieszkańców Maghrebu w przestrzeni prywatnej i publicznej. Zwrócono uwagę na czas przerwania postu, spożywane pokarmy, świętowanie nie tylko w domu, ale i na ulicy, w kawiarniach, a także mocne przeżywanie religijne.
    In this article, Anna Barska examines the events significant for Ramadan, the ninth month of the Muslim calendar and a month of fasting, practiced by the followers of Islam in the Maghreb countries. Ramadan introduces an inversion day and night. This subject matter has made necessary reflections on the essence of time, and especially on the specific understanding time and the night in Islam. Barska shows the way in which Ramadan is celebrated through the behavior of the Maghreb people in private and public spaces. She focuses on the time when the fasting is interrupted, on the foods consumed, on celebrations both at home and on the streets, in cafes, as well as on the strength of the religious experience.

    In economics we often face a system which intrinsically imposes a structure of hierarchy of its components, i.e., in modeling trade accounts related to foreign exchange or in optimization of regional air protection policy. A problem of reconciliation of forecasts obtained on different levels of hierarchy has been addressed in the statistical and econometric literature many times and concerns bringing together forecasts obtained independently at different levels of hierarchy. This paper deals with this issue with regard to a hierarchical functional time series. We present and critically discuss a state of art and indicate opportunities of an application of these methods to a certain environment protection problem. We critically compare the best predictor known from the literature with our own original proposal. Within the paper we study a macromodel describing the day and night air pollution in Silesia region divided into five subregions.

    Part of Chesterton’s imagery that he often employs in his writing is the motif of light and darkness, which in The Ball and the Cross takes the form of the cycle of night and day. This cycle dictates a specific rhythm, which rules over both the ongoing duel and other events. Thus, the evening and night time is rather reserved for considerable and profound insights, found in, for instance, the opening and closing scenes and in all the events that reflect or decide about the characters’ spiritual growth. The day time seems to contribute more to the development of the protagonists’ relationship with each other and the world around.
    Pojawiający się często w metaforyce Chestertona motyw światła i ciemności, w powieści Kula i krzyż przybiera formę cyklu dnia i nocy. Cykl ten narzuca fabule określony rytm, który rządzi zarówno toczącym się pojedynkiem głównych bohaterów, jak i innymi wydarzeniami. Czas wieczorny i nocny jest raczej przeznaczony dla istotnych i głębokich refleksji, które pojawiają się na przykład w pierwszej i ostatniej scenie powieści oraz w trakcie innych wydarzeń decydujących o rozwoju duchowym bohaterów. Wydaje się, że czas dzienny bardziej sprzyja rozwojowi relacji łączącej ich ze sobą i światem zewnętrznym.

    W dobie rosnącej konkurencyjności i poszukiwania sposobów lepszego wykorzystania posiadanych zasobów właściwe wykorzystanie czasu pracy kierowców staje się coraz trudniejszym wyzwaniem dla przedsiębiorstw transportowych. Aby było możliwe optymalne wykorzystanie czasu pracy kierowców, należy przeanalizować różne koncepcje i rozwiązania, poszukując rozwiązań sprawdzonych, adekwatnych do aktualnych potrzeb i uwarunkowań. Szczególnie trudne staje się to do dla przedsiębiorstw, które wykonują transport osób w porze nocnej. Dlatego celem prezentowanego artykułu jest identyfikacja podstawowych problemów w zakresie optymalizacji czasu pracy kierowców zawodowych wykonujących transport osób w porze nocnej w odniesieniu do prawodawstwa Unii Europejskiej oraz Polski. W opracowaniu zestawiono w ujęciu chronologicznym podstawowe zmiany prawne dotyczące aktywności zawodowej kierowców, które miały miejsce w obrębie prawo- dawstwa Unii Europejskiej oraz Polski. Artykuł powstał na podstawie analizy dokumentów formalnoprawnych oraz aktów normatywnych obowiązujących w opisywanym obszarze, funkcjonujących w ramach systemu prawnego UE i Polski. Materiały zawarte w prezentowanym materiale są podstawą do dalszych badań i rozważań w omawianym obszarze.
    In the era of growing competitiveness and searching for ways to better use the resources possessed, proper use of drivers' working time is becoming an increasingly difficult challenge for transport companies. In order to make optimal use of drivers' working time, various concepts and solutions should be analyzed, looking for proven solutions that are adequate to current needs and conditions. This is particularly difficult for companies that transport people during night. Therefore, the purpose of the presented article is to identify the basic problems in the optimization of working time of professional drivers who transport people at night in relation to the legislation of the European Union and Poland. The study presents in a chronological order the basic changes concerning the professional activity of drivers, which took place within the European Union and Poland legislation. The article was created on the basis of the analysis of formal and legal documents and normative acts binding in the described area functioning within the legal system of the EU and Poland. Materials contained in the article are the basis for further research and reflection in the discussed area.
