Opis:
The system of Kazakh anthroponyms is characterized by both regional and social pecularities. This study is devoted to the anthroponomy of Aktobe city. The proper names have vivid national and cultural semantics as their values are arbitrary from history and culture of people – native speakers. In Kazakh namegiving the loss of magical function occurs, which gives way to social and aesthetic functions. Purpose of the study. Studying the dynamics of the naive worldview in the system of Kazakh anthroponyms on the materials of Aktobe city (Kazakhstan), as well as the conceptual foundations of onomastic representation and its subsequent practical application. Methods of research. The main methods of the work are the method of contrastive-comparative analysis of linguistic units in synchrony and diachrony and the method of statistical data processing. Conclusions. In the Kazakh namegiving a gradual loss of the magical function takes place, which gives way to the social, appellative, epistemic, and aesthetic functions. In modern Kazakh women's names, just as in ancient times, the appellative function of namegiving gives way to an aesthetic function. The arsenal of modern women's names is refilled by sonorous names, borrowed from both the Eastern and Western culture. Despite the activity of the general trend in the Kazakh anthroponymic system for the transition to national forms and variants of naming (execution of surnames and patronymics in accordance with the national traditions), upon registration newborns, the Aktobe residents continue to write their names in the documents more often in Russian, which generally indicates dominance of Russian language in the Kazakh youth environment of Aktobe city.

Opis:
Sodom (in Polish: Sodoma) does not exist. Although this Palestinian town has been known since prehistoric times and it is mentioned in the Bible, there is no archaeological proof which would confirm its location. In 2011, the name Sodoma was removed from the official list which includes Polish equivalents of geographical names of the world. However, the onym is still used in the Polish language. This name and its derivatives appear mainly in numerous eponyms. We can find here semantic derivatives (eg. sodoma), structural-semantic ones (eg. sodomia, sodomita, sodomizować), phraseological ones (eg. sodoma i gomora, grzech sodomski, jabłko sodomskie, jeden (jedyny) sprawiedliwy w Sodomie i Gomorze), and the ones which were created as a result of transonymisation. Other proper names derived from Sodoma are usually international in their character. The most frequent ones are artiphonyms and titles of various pieces of art – in painting, music, literature, etc. The connotative value of Sodoma is wider than it seems when we take only a cursory look at eponymous forms, but the dominant connotations are sexual ones (from heterosexual practices through homosexual ones to zoophilia). Sodoma is also related to catastrophe, mess, as well as to justice and morality. Probably thanks to its wide range of eponymous forms, the onym Sodoma is still present in Polish dictionaries of proper names. What is more, phraseological associations with Gomorrah (in Polish: Gomora, another biblical town) are so strong that in a few dictionaries the information about the name Sodoma appears only in the entry devoted to Gomora.

Opis:
The problem of the Ukrainian first names functioning in the Czech Republic anthroponymic space is quite extensive and covers many issues. The article is focused on the research of the ways the Ukrainian first names are presented in the Czech onomastic papers, in particular, in the Czech anthroponymic dictionary Jak se bude vaše dítě jmenovat? (2017) by the famous Czech scholar Miloslava Knappová. The 2017 latest edition contains 17,000 Czech and foreign‑language forms of first names. Parents have the right to choose any of these first names (be it Czech or foreign) for their child, and if this first name is included in the above-mentioned dictionary, it is a sufficient reason for the chosen name official recording. In the lexical entries, the author provides the Ukrainian equivalents among other foreign‑language parallel forms. These Ukrainian counterparts, in particular, constitute the main source of our research. Also, in the article, the material recorded in the Ukrainian dictionaries has been used to compare different reference sources. To carry out the analysis of the Ukrainian first names functioning in the Czech anthroponymy, the author has used the linguistic descriptive method, comparative and statistical methods. The problem of the Ukrainian first names functioning in the Czech Republic is complicated by the fact that in the Ukrainian language, Cyrillic is used, and the Czech language uses the Roman alphabet. Principles to transliterate the Ukrainian names, written in Cyrillic, by means of the Czech graphemes are presented in the rules of the Czech orthography. It has been concluded that the rules of the Czech orthography are quite efficient in transliterating the Ukrainian names, so they can be used as a reliable example. In the article, various problems arising when the Ukrainian first names are transliterated using the Czech graphemes have been analysed. In particular, a special attention has been paid to the problem of transliterating the Ukrainian letter г in those first names, as well as peculiarities of transliterating the letters и and і, and the ways to render palatalization of the Ukrainian consonants. Issues related to transliteration of the Ukrainian letter є and the general problem of rendering Ukrainian names’ iotation have been analysed. The frequency of the studied names’ use in the Ukrainian anthroponymy has been studied. Several proposals on possible future expansion of the Ukrainian parallels repertoire in the Czech dictionary of first names have been defined. As a result of the analysis carried out, it has become clear that the repertoire of the Ukrainian first names, represented in the Czech dictionary, is very rich and varied, containing 409 Ukrainian male names and 271 Ukrainian female names. They are registered by the Ukrainian dictionaries of first names and correspond to the Ukrainian spelling of 305 male names and 215 female names.
Spośród nich odnotowano w ukraińskich słownikach imion, odpowiadające im w ukraińskiej pisowni nazwy – 305 imion męskich i 215 żeńskich.
The problem of the functioning of Ukrainian names in the anthroponymic space of the Czech Republic is quite voluminous and covers many issues. The article focuses on one of these issues: how the Ukrainian names are presented in Czech onomastic works, in particular in the Czech dictionary of the names of the famous Czech scholar Miloslava Knappova Jak se bude vaše dítě jmenovat? (2017). Its latest edition of 2017 covers 17 thousand Czech and other language names. In the glossary articles, the author between the foreign language parallels is also presenting corresponding Ukrainian names. Parents have the right to choose any of these names (Czech or foreign) for their child, its presence in the above-mentioned dictionary is a sufficient reason for the official record of the name. The problem of the functioning of Ukrainian names in the Czech Republic is complicated by the fact that the Ukrainian language uses Cyrillic, and Czech uses Latin. Principles of the transfer of Ukrainian proper names, written by Cyrillic, by means of Czech graphic are given in the Rules of Czech spelling. The article concludes that the Czech spelling rules are very successful in presenting Ukrainian names, so they can be safely used as a reliable example. As a result of the analysis, it became clear that the repertoire of Ukrainian names, which is represented in the Czech Dictionary of Names, is very rich and varied: it's 409 Ukrainian male names and 271 Ukrainian female names. They are recorded in Ukrainian dictionaries of names and correspond to the Ukrainian spelling of 307 male names and 217 female names. The article analyzes the various problems that arise when the Ukrainian names are translated using Czech graphics. In particular, attention was paid to the problem of transferring the Ukrainian letter "г" in their personal names, the peculiarities of the letters "и" and "и", and the reproduction of the softness of the Ukrainian consonants. The transfer of the Ukrainian letter "є" and a general problem of the transfer of iotation in Ukrainian names were analysed. The frequency of the use of studied names in the Ukrainian anthroponymic is indicated. Proposals on possible expansion of the Ukrainian repertoire of parallels in the Czech Dictionary of Names in the future are expressed.

In the paper we present a Proper Name Recognition algorithm based on the Hidden Markov Model (HMM). Recognition of the Proper Names (PN) is treated as the basis for Named Entity Recognition problem in general. The proposed method is based on combining domain-dependent method based on HMM with domain independent methods based on gazetteers and hand-written rules for recognition and post-processing that capture the general properties of Polish PN structure. A large gazetteer with entries described morphologically was acquired from the web. The HMM re-scoring mechanism was applied as a basis for integration of different knowledge sources in PN recognition. Results of experiments on a domain corpus of Polish stock exchange reports, used for training and testing, are presented. A cross-domain evaluation on two other corpora is also presented. Adaptability of the method was analysed by applying the trained model to two other domain corpora.

Opis:
The author of the article discusses the name of the food product MAKARą in the context of unlimited rights of proper names. According to the traditional view, a proper name denotes only and has no meaning, although this theory is undermined in the light of new linguistic phenomena. Lots of chrematonyms has also an advertising function, some of them basing on appelatives and being created in such a way the relation between an appeletive and a proper name could be readable. This is in case of MAKARą derived from makaron (English noodle) with the transforming of spelling and pronunciation. Regardless of whether the pragmatic effect of the name is successful, from the point of view of the system of Polish language the name brings a lot of trouble. It is not accentuated in accordance with the rules of Polish stress and it cannot be inflected. Its form does not allow to decide about its grammatical gender unamibiguously and when spelt according to the Polish spelling rules {Makarą), loses its advertising power. There is also an ethical aspect of the discussed name - because of its deceptive form, namely the ending -ą. It can have bad influence on the correctness of language. This is because there are specific troubles connected with the pronunciation and spelling of nasal vowels and the group consisting of a vowel and a nasal consonant and the mistakes in this area are still common. The example of the name discussed prompts the author to reflect on whether creating proper names should be at least in some way restricted.
