The aim of the study was to identify acoustic and structural modes in the spectrum obtained exper- imentally inside an operator’s cab in a bulldozer. Measurements were taken inside the operator’s cab in a caterpillar-track bulldozer Polremaco TD12NPH2E-2000, designed for work in underground mine enclosures. The acoustic pressure spectrum was obtained for varied rotational speeds of the engine during the free run of the machine. The reverberation time of the cab was determined basing on the pulse-type excited pressure response, followed by identification of the spectral components registered by measure- ments. Thus, identified frequencies were compared with natural acoustic frequencies registered inside the operator’s cab and with frequencies associated with the valves and ignition frequencies due to rotational speed and natural frequencies of structural vibrations of the cab’s walls. This study was conducted in an attempt to reduce the noise inside the operator’s cab using passive methods.

We consider magnetic fields on R3 which are parallel to a conformal Killing field. When the latter generates a simple rotation we show that a Weyl-Dirac operator with such a magnetic field cannot have a zero mode. In particular this allows us to expand the class of non zero mode producing magnetic fields to include examples of non-trivial smooth compactly supported fields.

Opis:
The aim of the work is to discuss the workers' professional responsibility of the health care system. Proper exercising of the right to health and the right to protect health, first of all, depends on effective and stable law which would regulate the functioning of the health care system and on well prepared workers. Apart from the level of knowledge and factual preparation to work in the profession, the determinants of the workers' qualifications of the health care system are high sensibility, both ethical and moral. Actions or nonfeasances which determine professional responsibility of workers are characterized by infringement and they violate particular obligations. Responsibility of workers of health care is one of the mechanisms which should guarantee a satisfactory level of medical services. Its aim is to make the worker, who was proved to behave improperly, improve his/her actions, especially those serious ones and the ones which are repeated. Otherwise he/she could be temporarily or permanently deprived of his/her right to practice. The doctors who possess a diploma, but they do not have the right to carry the occupation are not subject to this mode. The range of doctors' professional responsibility is defined generally and the forbidden actions are not exactly described. Nurses and midwives bear the responsibility for the whole range of professional activity, including the field of relations nurse - patient - the members of the therapeutic team. The legal responsibility means the necessity of bearing the consequences provided for by legal regulations. Dissatisfaction with the health care system is justified but very often directed in an impropriate way. Surely, the quality of the doctors' or nursing practise should be constantly improved and while improving the conditions, the responsibility should increase.

Similar to most cities in Europe/the world, Kosovo also faces the problem of urban mobility, which is characterised by congestion. The most concerning problems are: waste of time, money, energy consumption, environmental problems and others. They arise due to the imbalanced state of using urban mobility in Pristina (Prishtinë), while eco-travels are minor. In order to reduce these problems, this paper aimed to examine the current situation of urban mobility in Pristina by analysing the mobility indicators of cars, trains, buses, bicycles and walking, in relation to purpose, distance and time. The research methodology was the direct survey method conducted with the citizens of Pristina and daily immigrants over a week. The results of the survey showed that 44% of the participants used cars for travelling, while other transportation alternatives (soft and eco-transport) were limited and problematic. In the absence of institutional practices for collecting periodic data, the results of this study will not only contribute in filling the information gap, but also will properly address the needs for transportation planning in Pristina and design objectives for a multimodal transportation strategy in this city to lessen the negative impacts of the aforementioned problems and increase travel facilities.

The stability ocondition (1.2) for frictional contact expressed in terms of potential energy and the dissipation function is applied to analysis of the stability of rigid-sliding and elastic-sliding contacts obeying the Coulomb friction condition and the non-associated sliding rule. both static and dynamic modes are considered.
O stateczności kontaktu z tarciem Warunek (1.2) stateczności układu sprężystego z ciernym kontaktem wyrażony jest przez funkcję energii potencjalnej V(qi) i funkcję dysypacji D(qi, qk). Rozpatrzono prawo tarcia Coulomba i niestowarzyszone prawo poślizgu i zastosowano warunek stateczności do kontaktu sztywnego i z podatnością sprężystą. Określono statyczne i dynamiczne formy utraty stateczności.

Les romans de Marcel Proust et de Georges Pérec présentent le kitsch sous les états de principes et de modes selon la grille théorique élaborée par Abraham Moles. L’étude a puisé des ressources conceptuelles dans la Psychologie du kitsch ou L’art du bonheur pour analyser les œuvres que sont Un amour de Swann et Les choses. Si contester le social, c’est quand même s’inspirer de lui, ces œuvres ne manquent pas de faire plonger dans les réalités du XIXe et du XXe siècles. Cependant, au seuil des intrigues, l’étude s’est appesantie sur l’objet dans son acquisition, son utilisation, son positionnement, sa contemplation, sa manipulation. Ainsi, les mots techniques formulés par Abraham Moles ont offert des énoncés tels que les principes d’inadéquation, de cumulation et les modes hédoniste, surréaliste qui ont révélé leur littérarité. Le kitsch offre un ensemble d’outils linguistiques qui expliquent des phénomènes observables au niveau social et au niveau littéraire. À ce titre, l’objet devient le prisme par lequel les mentalités se définissent. Les romans de Marcel Proust et de Georges Pérec renferment des observations et des informations sociologiques rendues sous formes esthétiques à travers le procès du snobisme.
The novels of Marcel Proust and Georges Perec present kitsch under the states of principles and modes according to the theoretical grid developed by Abraham Moles. This study therefore drew conceptual resources from the Psychologie du kitsch ou l’art du bonheur in order to analyze Un amour de Swann et Les choses. If to challenge social reality still implies being inspired by it, these works do not fail to plunge into the realities of the 19th and 20th centuries. However, at the threshold of the plots, the study has focused on the object in its acquisition, its use, its positioning, its contemplation, its manipulation. Thus, the technical words formulated by Abraham Moles offered statements such as the principle of inadequacy and accumulation as well as hedonistic, surrealist modes that revealed their literality. The kitsch offers a set of linguistic tools which explain phenomena observable at the social and literary level. As such, the object becomes the prism by which mentalities are defined. The novels of Marcel Proust and George Perec contain observations and sociological information rendered in aesthetic forms through the trial of snobbery.

The main aim of this article was to present recently evolved methods of strengthening flexural reinforced concrete beams, as well as the concreteanchorage system bond strength problems in composites that were either surface mounted or inserted in the pre-cut grooves in the concrete cover. The focus is on the beams strengthened with the carbon FRP (CFRP - carbon fiber reinforced polymer) composites to show the basic advantages and drawbacks associated with their installation and bond performance. Domestic and foreign experiments investigating the EBR and NSMR strengthening systems were discussed to show their efficacy, common failure modes and the factors initiating the debonding process. Debonding problems and solutions to those problems were illustrated using the example of a composite material attached to the outer surface of concrete in the shear zone of reinforced concrete beams The article provides guidelines for checking the anchorage capacity for the existing longitudinal reinforcement with the simultaneous action of bending moment and shear force in the support zone of the reinforced concrete beam.

The main aim of the paper is to show an existential religious model of business leadership. We want to defend the thesis that leaders, who consider existing norms and regulations, have the greatest influence on how organisational aims are achieved. Thus, based on the concept of Kierkegaard’s modes of existence, we show that the individual values and motives of leaders’ behaviour influence the shape of the leadership itself as well as the management of an organisation. On the basis of a literature review, we propose the following connections: an aesthetic mode with instrumental motives which result in the shareholder perspective; an ethical mode of existence with normative motives which lead to the stakeholder perspective; and the spiritual mode of existence with transcendental motives which enable leaders to introduce a holistic perspective of management. However, we cannot link certain motives with a particular type of leadership, as leaders with different modes of existence might practice the same type of leadership (i.e., leadership based on values, authentic leadership) and combine various types of leadership in their actions. The paper might provide a theoretical basis for empirical research on leadership and managerial behaviour.

This article examines the literary series of Inquisitore Eymerich by Valerio Evangelisti, a variegated macronarrative, which, resisting generic classification, introduces innovation to the panorama of contemporary Italian fantasy. Departing from the analysis of the salient features of the series such as intertextuality, hybridization, storiographic metafiction, and transfictionality, the article examines closely the areas of postmodern narration and inquires into the role of the fantastic element in Italian literature. Evangelisti makes the most of postmodern narrative strategies and of fantasy’s ability to penetrate various media in order to provide a tool of critical reflection on human history with an emphasis on the phenomenology of power. By interweaving different literary genres and inviting readers to produce their own interpretations in form of fan fiction, Evangelisti creates a new type of committed narrative, post-fantasy, which presents a new conception of postmodern narrative, one that overcomes the barrier between the literary fiction and the genre fiction.

We have extended a previous calculation of the energy of a weakly heterogeneous waveguide to fourth order in the density perturbation, deriving its general expression. For particular configurations where the second and third orders both vanish, we discover that the fourth order contribution lowers in general the energy of the state, below the threshold of the continuum. In these cases the waveguide possesses a localized state. We have applied our general formula to a solvable model with vanishing second and third orders reproducing the exact expression for the fourth order.

“Human beings have two fundamentally different ways of thinking about and engaging with the world.” Some variant of this proposition is shared by many thinkers across time. This paper focuses on the core similarities and the subtle (but significant) differences between Freud’s theory of primary and secondary processes, Karl Stern’s theory of the scientific and poetic modes of knowledge and Iain McGilchrist’s account of the differences between left and right-hemispheric competences, values and ways of “being-in-the-world”. It asks whether (or to what extent) the collective tendency to privilege one “way of knowing” over another promotes or inhibits optimal human development and cultural change and transformation.

Purpose: There have been numerous studies analyzing the role of psychic (and cultural) distance in the internationalization process focused on relationships between distance and market selection, entry mode, or subsidiary performance. Still, cumulative findings of this body of research are mixed and inconclusive. Thus, this review aims for a rigorous presentation of past research on psychic distance, with particular focus on the aspects of international business operations affected by psychic distance in the light of empirical studies.Methodology: This review encompasses 55 papers, both empirical and conceptual, published between 1990–2015 in top IB, international marketing, and management journals. In general, the papers under review were published in 27 journals, with the vast majority of them being published in 2005 or later. The vast majority of reviewed papers are of empirical character (47 papers), while eight are conceptual.Findings: Since 2005, the number of articles published in top academic journals that featured the term “psychic distance” in the title has quadrupled. Common research topics include not only the core domain of internationalization process and performance, but also focus on understanding the concept of psychic distance, analyzing its antecedents and coping modes. Other studies have addressed the performance implications of psychic distance in conjunction with variables like strategy adaptation to foreign markets.Research limitations/implications: While the present review is limited in the number of papers taken into account, it does provide an initial overview of the structure of the field. However, the comparability of findings of different studies is limited by factors such as firm samples or presence of multicultural nations. In terms of directions for further research, promising topics include the relationship between perceived and ‘real’ distances or the effectiveness of different coping modes.Originality/value: The present paper identifies key research streams related to psychic distance and its role for international business. Based on an analysis of their content, it outlines several avenues for further investigation.

This days impact testing has become widespread as a fast and economical means of finding the vibration modes of a machine or structure. In this paper, we analyze the spin dynamics of an aerodynamically asymmetric aircraft in open-loop configuration and also evaluate the performance of gain scheduled flight control law in improving dynamic characteristics of aircraft spin. A look-up tables based aerodynamic model is developed from static, coning and oscillatory coning rotary balance wind tunnel test data. As a starting point, all possible steady spin modes are identified by solving the aircraft dynamic model comprising moment equations. The influence of high-alpha yawing moment asymmetry on predicted right and left spin modes is discussed. Six degree of freedom simulations of left and right flat spins are performed in open-loop and closed-loop configurations with the flight control law. Our studies reveal that large amplitude oscillations in the angle of attack and sideslip observed in the open-loop configuration are significantly damped by the control law. The control law reduces the recovery time of the left flat spin. However, the aircraft natural tendency to rotate rightwards due to yawing moment asymmetry at high angles of attack renders flight control law ineffective in aiding the recovery of the right flat spin.
