    The paper presents selected aspects of the use of modern business intelligence tools in military applications. It shows a concept of integrated IT systems of management supported by the tools of business intelligence. The article presents a broad spectrum of the use of these tools in business planning. It introduces the possible areas of military applications of these solutions in the context of the process of the integration of the command systems used in the Polish Armed Forces, which has lasted for many years.

    Opis:
    3D printing, 3D scanning and reverse engineering may constitute a significant breakthrough in research all over the world, especially within medical and military technologies. Particularly 3D printing seems to be a promising method to produce 3D objects manufactured layer-by-layer. The broader use of the above technologies may allow customization of various products and lower costs of design and production. At the same time progress in 3D printing technologies needs to be monitored and analyzed in order to deal with possible future threats. This article aims at investigating the extent to which the military and biomedical applications of 3D scanners and 3D printers are exploited, including in the framework of the authors’ own concepts, studies and observations.

    Znaczenie i zastosowanie wodoru jako nośnika energii stale rośnie. Może być on używany bezpośrednio w silnikach spalinowych lub turbinach, ale najwyższą sprawność energetyczną (łączną: elektryczną i cieplną), o wartości nawet 70-80%, uzyskuje się stosując ogniwa paliwowe. W pracy przedstawiono przykłady projektów badawczych i wdrożeń z zakresu transportu i energetyki, w aplikacjach cywilnych i wojskowych. Zaletą rozwiązań szczególnie ważnych w zastosowaniach militarnych - poza sprawnością - jest ponadto cicha praca (ang.: low noise signature) i niewielki tzw. ślad termiczny (ang.: low heat signature), które utrudniają wykrycie obiektów wojskowych zasilanych przy pomocy ogniw paliwowych. Istotna jest również wysoka niezawodność (brak części ruchomych, eliminacja smarowania), bezobsługowość (minimalne koszty utrzymania) i zdalne sterowanie oraz niska emisja substancji szkodliwych. Ważnym atutem jest też możliwość wytworzenia paliwa na miejscu (elektrolizery) oraz wykorzystanie dostępnych lokalnie innych źródeł energii i paliw (z użyciem tzw. reformerów) do wytwarzania wodoru. Kluczowe znaczenie ma fakt, iż wszystkie przytoczone przykłady zaliczyć można do technologii podwójnego zastosowania.
    The importance and the use of hydrogen as an energy carrier have been constantly growing. It can be used directly in combustion engines or turbines, but the highest energetic efficiency (total: electric and heat) even to 70-80% can be obtained by using fuel cells. The paper presents examples of research projects and implementations in transport and power engineering for civilian and military applications. Low noise and heat signatures making object difficult to detect belong to advantages which beyond efficiency are particularly important in military applications. There are also important high reliability (no moving parts, elimination of lubrication), maintenance-free (negligible operational costs), remote control and low emissions of environmentally damaging products. A possibility for producing the fuel on site (by electrolysis), or using other locally available sources of energy and fuel to produce hydrogen (i.e. by using reformers) is another benefit. Moreover it is crucial that all the examples cited above may be included in category of dual-use technologies.

    Opis:
    This paper analyses required personnel, training capacities and equipment for participation in the United Nations peacekeeping operations with the riverine elements. In order to meet necessary capabilities for engagement in United Nations peacekeeping operations, Serbian military riverine units have to be compatible with the issued UN requirements. Serbian Armed Forces have the potential to reach such requirements with the River Flotilla as a pivot for the participation in UN missions. Serbian Military Academy adopted and developed educational and training program in accordance with the provisions and recommendations of the IMO conventions and IMO model courses. Serbian Military Academy has opportunities for education and training military riverine units for participation in the United Nations peacekeeping operations. Moreover, Serbia has Multinational Operations Training Center and Peacekeeping Operations Center certified to provide selection, training, equipping and preparations of individuals and units to the United Nations multinational operations.

    Informatyka afektywna (ang. affective computing - AC) próbuje wypełnić komunikacyjną lukę pomiędzy emocjonalnym człowiekiem/użytkownikiem a komputerami przez rozwijanie systemów rozpoznających emocje i reagujących na nie. Technologie rozwinięte w ostatnich latach, takie jak śledzenie gestykulacji, śledzenie ruchów ciała i postawy, przechwytywanie ekspresji twarzy czy pomiar i analiza cech akustycznych mowy mogą być użyte w interfejsach wielomodalnych do odbierania i generacji emocji. Autorzy przedstawiają kluczowe zagadnienia z tego obszaru oraz próbują ocenić zakres, w jakim dostępne możliwości zostały wykorzystane, w tym w zastosowaniach wojskowych.
    Affective Computing (abbr. AC) attempts to fill the communicative gap between the highly emotional human/user and computers by developing computational systems recognising and responding to the affective states. Technologies which have been developed in recent years, such as body gesture and movement processing, facial expression recognition, emotional speech processing, can be used in affective multimodal systems to the perception and generation of affects. The authors discuss key topics in current research and aim at investigating the extent to which the available opportunities are being exploited, including military applications.

    W artykule przedstawiono niektóre rodzaje samochodów osobowych eksploatowanych przez sektor cywilny, jak też przez sektor wojenny podczas II wojny światowej. Zasadniczym kryterium przyjętym w artykule było wykorzystanie gazu generatorowego jako paliwa do napędu tego typu pojazdów. Były one produkowane w różnych krajach, potrzebę tego typu konstrukcji i produkcji wymusił m.in. kryzys paliwowy, także brak benzyny, paliw płynnych które zużywano na potrzeby wojny. W skład artykułu wchodzą ryciny, schematy, które ilustrują graficznie przedstawione zagadnienie.
    This article presents chosen types of passenger cars exploited by the civil sector, as well as by the war sector, during World War II. The basic criterion applied in the article was the usage of producer gas as fuel for driving this type of vehicles. These were produced in various countries and the need for this type of constructions and production was forced, inter alia, by the fuel crisis, as well as by the lack of fuel, liquid fuels, which were used for the needs of the war. The article includes figures and diagrams which graphically illustrate the presented topic.

    Wireless sensor networks can be used by the military for a number of purposes such as monitoring militant activity in remote areas and force protection. Being equipped with appropriate sensors these networks can enable detection of enemy movement, identification of enemy force and analysis of their movement and progress. The focus of this article is on the military requirements for flexible wireless sensor networks. Based on the main networking characteristics and military use-cases, insight into specific military requirements is given in order to facilitate the reader's understanding of the operation of these networks in the near to medium term (within the next three to eight years). The article structures the evolution of military sensor networking devices by identifying three generations of sensors along with their capabilities. Existing developer solutions are presented and an overview of some existing tailored products for the military environment is given. The article concludes with an analysis of outstanding engineering and scientific challenges in order to achieve fully flexible, security proved, ad hoc, self-organizing and scalable military sensor networks.

    In the article principles, pertaining to the safety of transport for explosives and unexploded ordnance of military origin and procedures that guarantee maximal effectiveness of the process of their neutralization, are presented. Since the end of the 2nd World War operations of neutralizing unexploded ordnance (UXO) of that era that still lie in ports, roadsteads and coastal areas are continuously conducted. During that war the Polish coast was one of the major battlegrounds and till now unexploded ordnance are found either on the sea bed or along the coast. Various analyses state that searching the sea and the coastline for unexploded ordnance is a task still to be carried out in the foreseeable future.
