The article characterizes contemporary Polish language newspapers in Ukraine and discusses some language features of the texts in reference to language norms that are applied in Poland. Material gathered mostly from the press but also from some other sources (questionnaires, spoken texts etc.) reveal some specific features of pragmatic language norms applied by members of the Polish community in Ukraine. The thesis is specifically on language etiquette norms and explains the different criteria used in Polish language as it is used in Poland, compared with abroad. Data gathered by the author leads to the conclusion that the Polish language etiquette norm as defined by linguists would differ significantly from the norm as defined by average Polish language speakers in Ukraine.

At the beginning of the 20th century, a discussion on the status of the Silesian ethnolect emerged in Poland. Several years ago, the creative and language activist circles advocating for the linguistic autonomy of Silesian initiated actions aimed at the description and codification of the Silesian language. Among the many published works, only the few-page Wstępne zasady pisowni śląskiej (Preliminary Rules of Silesian Orthography) from 2009 and Gōrnoślōnski ślabikŏrz from 2010 can be considered valuable studies that had a real impact on the development of Silesian literature in the second decade of the 20th century. The relatively general normative decisions presented in these works are revised and extensively expanded in Zasady pisowni języka śląskiego (Rules of Silesian Language Orthography) from 2022. This monograph, which codifies not only Silesian orthography but also elements of grammar and vocabulary, can serve as a foundation for further activities towards the complete standardisation of the Silesian language.

The article is devoted to the study of some active processes affecting the system of the modern Russian language. The result of the study is the identification of factors that negatively affect the dynamics of the Russian language, which are presented in socio-political and linguistic aspects. The socio-political reasons are caused by the active reduction of the Russian-language information space in the near and far abroad area under the influence of the collapse of the Soviet Union. Unsuccessful phenomena in the current state of the Russian language consist in the intentional violation of the language norms in the Internet space, the substitution of normative vocabulary for meaningfully and stylistically belittled expressions of rural life, the clogging of the Russian literary language with words and verbal turns of slang origin, the dissemination of obscene vocabulary, the saturation of the language with words and expressions of foreign origin, and the unjustified euphemization of speech, leading to the erosion of the meaning of words. The general conclusion is the need for the serious efforts of the whole society against the simplification and the purity of the Russian literary language.

Literacki język Bułgarów z Banatu ma status języka wyspowego, gdyż posługuje się nim katolicka społeczność od ponad dwustu lat żyjąca poza ojczyzną, w obcym otoczeniu językowym. Z czasem – w dużej mierze pod wpływem języka chorwackiego, rumuńskiego i węgierskiego – rozwinął własną normę literacką i uznawany jest dziś za mikrojęzyk. Książka Marineli Mladenowej, a w ślad za nią także niniejszy artykuł dotyczą czynników politycznych i społecznych, które oddziaływały na rozwój tej normy.
The article contains a review of Marinela Mladenova’s book Банатски български книжовен език в контекста на славянската микролингвистика. История, динамика на нормата и езикови политики, the author of which focuses on the normalization and development of the language norms of the Bulgarian minority living in Banat. The literary language of the Banat Bulgarians has the status of an island language because it has been used by the Catholic community for over two hundred years living outside their homeland, in a foreign linguistic environment. It developed its own literary norm through time, mostly under the influence of Croatian, Romanian, and Hungarian, and is now regarded a micro-language. Marinela Mladenowa’s book, as well as the accompanying article, discuss the political and societal reasons that influenced the development of this standard.

The aim of this paper is to present Tomasz Szumski’s prescriptive views. Dokładna nauka języka i stylu polskiego (Learning the Polish language and style thoroughly) is not a highly popular work, yet one deserving attention as it combines a grammatical description of the Polish language with the rules governing its use, including a lecture on communication behaviours. It is a systematic and a clearly prescriptive lecture of good Polish, where the author distinguishes three levels of command of the language. It includes not only a description of grammatical rules but also guidance regarding proper pronunciation, text construction and delivery. The rules formulated by T. Szumski are expressly oriented towards addressees with the aim to make them feel comfortable; they are also conditions of an effective utterance/statement. The study is embedded in the European grammatical and rhetorical tradition. Historical, national, literary, and aesthetic criteria, although unnamed directly, are clear in the author’s thinking about the language.

Будући да су скраћенице у комуникацији веома фреквентне, циљ рада и истраживања био је да се утврди колико свршени средњошколци познају правописна правила у вези са скраћивањем речи. Испитивање се вршило на основу анкете. У истраживању је учествовало 160 испитаника. Анализиране су скраћенице и у наставним програ- мима за основну и средњу школу и правописна правила у вези са њиховим писањем у Правопису српскога језика Матице српске. Покушали смо да утврдимо које се грешке јављају, зашто до њих долази и понудимо могућа решења која би утицала на то да оваквих грешака буде све мање.
Since using abbreviations in communication is a common phenomenon, the objective of the paper and research was to determine how well high school leavers know the spelling rules concerning word abbreviating. The research was conducted on the basis of a survey. The survey involved 160 respondents. Abbreviations in primary and secondary school curricula were also analyzed as well as the spelling rules related to their writing in the Serbian Language Orthography by Matica Srpska. We tried to find out what mistakes appeared, what brought them about and we offered possible solutions to making them fewer. The results of the research show that the abbreviations are a very perplexed part of orthographic system. Although there are very strict rules in literary language norm, it seems that the great number of native speakers don’t comply with those rules, mostly because they are not familiar with them. The great percent of correct answers was found in those abbreviations that are the most frequent in everyday communication. Results of the research also show that the orthography teaching on academic level has great impact on knowledge of literary language norm. Therefore, Orthography should be one of the compulsory courses. On the other side, the fact that results of this research are almost the same as the results of the previous similar researches are discouraging. That shows that the problem of writing abbreviations is common. This problem could be solved if we obey literary language norm in Serbian language teaching and in media literacy. In spite of the fact that it’s almost paradoxically, we can say that, nonetheless literary language norm is being taught through whole schooling, it is never completely learned. Therefore it is important for students to learn basics of literary language norm and how to use orthographic textbooks by doing different writing exercises, surveys projects etc. It’s important that they learn how to use that knowledge properly.

Przedmiotem opracowania są tytuły występujące w internetowych komunikatach audiowizualnych, czyli wideoblogach sportowych prowadzonych przez polskich dziennikarzy w serwisie YouTube. Badania, w których wykorzystano perspektywę medioonomastyczną, potwierdzają, że tego typu nazwy są redagowane zgodnie z podstawowymi zasadami formułowanymi przez copywriterów i specjalistów do spraw marketingu internetowego. Rezultatami analiz są: przedstawienie struktury tytułów odcinków wideoblogów sportowych, zaprezentowanie najczęściej wykorzystywanych przez nadawców sposobów oddziaływania na odbiorcę oraz wskazanie podstawowych funkcji omawianego elementu.
The subject of the article are the titles appearing in online videos — sports vlogs run by Polish journalists on YouTube. The research was prepared using the perspective of medioonomastics. It confirms that titles are created in accordance with the basic principles formulated by copywriters and Internet marketing specialists. The results of the analysis are presentation of the structure of the titles of sports vlogs episodes, description of the most frequently used methods of influencing the recipient by youtubers and an indication of the basic functions of the discussed element.

The article is a continuation of studies concerning textual differences in distribution of variant phonetic forms. The analysis covers the forms being a part of four variances: jestli // jesli, -mdl- // -mgl-, miedzy // między and -mieszk- // -mięszk-. Different textual distribution of the studied forms proved to be significant – not only revealed the segmentation of text known from previous analysis (graphical and phonetic), but also 3 new, previously unknown text boundaries extending between the columns 510/511, 591/592 and 612/613. The strongest relationship with the job of a compositor is indicated by textual repartition of forms belonging to two variances: miedzy // między i jestli // jesli. With regard to the analysed forms the central part Cresc is most standardized, contained in the columns 138-384, whereas the most progressive (containing the greatest number of progressive variants) – is the section of text including the columns 381a–R10v. The completed study has also demonstrated that the boundary between the cluster Q and R established by Kazimierz Piekarski on the basis of a typographical analysis is also the boundary of occurrence of certain phonetic phenomena.

Celem artykułu jest zwrócenie uwagi na funkcje błędów językowych rozpowszechnianych przez internet, wskazanie na sieć ich powiązań oraz odpowiedź na pytanie, jakie wartości niosą ze sobą nienormatywne zachowania komunikacyjne, które są świadome i funkcjonalne. Punktem wyjścia rozważań uczyniono jeden błąd językowy, a wybrana metoda naukowa (studium przypadku) ma na celu rozwiązanie sformułowanych wcześniej problemów badawczych i opis wybranego wycinka internetowej przestrzeni. Przedmiotem badań jest zjawisko wzajemnych relacji sieciowych wraz z ich egzemplifikacjami uwikłanymi kontekstualnie. Analiza jakościowa wskazała na różne funkcje świadomego naruszenia normy. Omówione przykłady nienormatywnych zachowań komunikacyjnych, będące reakcją na „oczywisty błąd pisarski”, służyły zabarwionej ironicznie lub/i humorystycznie grze słownej, refleksji metajęzykowej, pośredniej charakterystyce działań ministra i jej krytyce, prowokacji, zwróceniu uwagi odbiorcy na normę językową i konieczność jej przestrzegania.
The article seeks to examine the functions of linguistic errors disseminated on the Internet and the network of their connections. The paper answers the question about the value carried by non-normative communication practices which are conscious and functional. The starting point for the analysis was one linguistic error. The selected scientific method (case study) aims to resolve the previously formulated research problems and describe the selected fragment of the Internet space. The work explores the phenomenon of mutual network relations with their exemplifications which are contextually involved. The qualitative analysis showed various functions of deliberate violation of the norm. The discussed examples of non-normative communication practices, being a reaction to an “obvious clerical error”, served an ironic and/or humorous wordplay and an indirect illustration of the minister’s actions. They were also used as a criticism, provocation and metalinguistic reflection. They were aimed at drawing the recipient’s attention to the linguistic norm and the need to respect it.

Die sprachliche Kommunikation beruht stärker als bisher angenommen auf einem routinemäßigen Sprachgebrauch. Als typisches Beispiel für wiederkehrende Formulierungen lassen sich Kollokationen anführen. Einerseits handelt es sich hierbei um Wortkombinationen, die durch die außersprachliche Realität bedingt sind, die andererseits aber auch einzelsprachspezifisch, konventionell sein können und Erscheinungen der Sprachnorm darstellen. Im vorliegenden Beitrag werden die wesentlichen Merkmale von Kollokationen diskutiert, und zwar in Bezug auf das Sprachenpaar Deutsch-Polnisch.
Komunikacja językowa polega w większej mierze, niż dotąd zakładano, na zrutynizowanym użyciu języka. Jako typowy przykład wciąż powtarzanych sformułowań posłużyć mogą kolokacje. Z jednej strony współwystępowanie pewnych kombinacji wyrazowych uwarunkowane jest rzeczywistością pozajęzykową, z drugiej jednak kolokacje stanowią typowe dla danego języka, skonwencjonalizowane zjawiska z zakresu normy językowej. Artykuł przedstawia najistotniejsze cechy kolokacji w odniesieniu do języka polskiego i niemieckiego.
Language communication is more based on routine language use than it has been assumed so far. Collocations can serve as examples of constantly repeated phrases. On the one hand the co-occurrence of some word combinations is determined by extralingual reality but on the other hand collocations are typical and conventional for a given language phenomena belonging to the language norm. The current paper discusses the most essential criteria of collocations in reference to the German and Polish languages.

Texts from the Polish-language „Gazeta Polska Bukowiny” (“The Polish Newspaper of Bukovina”) in Ukraine (2007–2020), which had not been an object of morphological research before, were used as a material for a contrastive analysis of the realisations of forms of grammatical gender of various parts of speech that differ from all-Poland ones. It enabled disclosure of the types of deviations from the norm in this regard, their quantitative proportions, and demonstration of qualitative and quantitative differences in this respect compared to the results of research on variants of the language used by polonocentric communication communities in Ukraine (in particular the youth variant). The reasons for the analysed deviations from the norm were determined: they were mainly extrainterferential, caused by the infl uence of the Ukrainian (or Russian) language, and – less frequently – intra-interferential; the psycholinguistic aspect of errors concerning gender forms in the Polish language in Ukraine was also taken into consideration.

Настоящая статья посвящена важнейшей проблеме глоттодидактии – феномену ошибки при продуцированию иноязычной речи. В последние десятилетия внедрение коммуникативного метода в практику преподавания иностранных языков привело к пересмотру отношения преподавателя и обучаемых к языковым ошибкам, их предупреждению и коррекции. Так как знание источников ошибок облегчает задачу определения мер по их исправлению, в работе указываются лингвистические, психолингвистические и методические механизмы возникновения ошибок. Предлагаемая корректировочная методическая работа включает приёмы и упражнения, направленные на формирование рефлексивных умений, а также формирование механизма самоконтроля и самокоррекции.

W artykule przedstawiono problemy poprawnościowe z zakresu słownictwa religijnego, jakie zgłaszają redaktorzy i korektorzy będący członkami samopomocowej grupy na Facebooku. Na podstawie tych pytań (wyrażonych w formie postów) i odpowiedzi na nie (komentarzy) wyciągnięto wnioski dotyczące znajomości norm językowych i ich źródeł wśród redaktorów, sposobów radzenia sobie z trudnościami językowymi oraz stosunku redaktorów do języka religijnego i leksyki religijnej.
The article presents problems of correctness in the field of religious vocabulary reported by editors and proofreaders who are members of a self-help group on Facebook. On the basis of these questions (expressed in posts) and the answers to them (comments), there were drawn conclusions about the knowledge (by editors) of linguistic norms and their sources, ways of solving the linguistic diffi culties and the attitude of editors to religious language and religious lexis.

Opis:
Leksyka współczesnej polszczyzny stale się zmienia. Innowacje leksykalne występują szczególnie często w dyskursie medialnym. Kształt językowy tego dyskursu jest przez wielu Polaków postrzegany jako swoisty punkt odniesienia (jeśli nawet nie wzorzec) w sytuacjach wątpliwości językowych, zwłaszcza leksykalnych. Ilustrację tego zjawiska stanowi omówienie kilku przykładów żywych dzisiaj naruszeń normy leksykalnej w zakresie semantyki. Podjęte rozważania prowadzą następnie do zastanowienia się nad reakcjami lektorów JPJO na uzualne i nienormatywne zjawiska językowe oraz nad sposobami radzenia sobie z nimi w działaniach dydaktycznych.
Contemporary Polish vocabulary changes all the time. We observe it especially in the media language. A lot of Poles look up to this type of language as the general pattern of correctness. In this paper we present some incorrect changes in the semantics of words. Then we discuss some aspects of strategies in language teacher’s work with these neologisms and mistakes

Opis:
The paper discusses the normative aspects of the Polish language presently used in the Ukraine by the speakers of Polish descent living there as well as by the Ukrainians who learn Polish as a foreign language. The problems relating the objectively defined language norms for Polish used abroad are analysed in the context of the contemporary debate on solutions proposed within the realm of prescriptive linguistics in Poland. The author suggests extrapolating the conception of a twin-level language norm adopted in Poland for the two discussed cases of Polish spoken in the Ukraine. The author advocates the universally obligatory nature of the Standard Polish language ideal norm. At the same time, he considers expanding the scope of the real norms for foreign Polish language varieties for the speakers of Polish of foreign descent. Also emphasized is the need for developing a set of didactic language norms for the Ukrainian learners of Polish.
