    The issue stated in the title is an attempt to understand the profound changes that have taken place in the culture of ethical education related to the relationship between humans and nature. The subject of analysis is linked to the need to promote interpersonal and interspecies humanitarianism. The author refers here to the educational activities aimed at shaping attitudes of respect for all living beings. The theoretical plane covers the ideas developed within the framework of the trend known as post-humanism. In this paper, the stance is that upbringing in humanitarianism is a great capacity that must be developed in children and adults. This is an ethical capacity for a community-oriented and respectful coexistence.

    The paper focuses on the role of the Institute of National Education set up in 1997 within Radio Maryja, an intellectual formation chosen by right-wing politicians. The Institute is interested in reforming education; it also questions the existing assumptions of education transformations relating to the model of the moral-shaping school or the societal role of pedagogical sciences. It engages in a variety of education forms, including National Education School, the Academy of Ethical Upbringing, the Academy of Social Abilities, the Summer School of Polish Culture, professional development classes as well as symposia and popular scientific lectures. The Institute is present in publishing. Moreover, it is responsible for organizing summer holidays and pilgrimages; it co-operates with the Redemptorists during retreat meetings. Yet another branch of the Institute is Feliks Koneczny Thought Club and the Maksymilian Kolbe School of Journalism. In the light of its prominence, the discussed movement should be able to contribute significantly to the debate on the education transformation.

    W artykule podejmuję próbę wzięcia udziału w dyskusji odbywającej się w ramach współczesnej etyki cnót. Przedstawiam jeden z głównych problemów związanych z procesem kształtowania cnót i argumentuję, że większe zbliżenie etyki cnót do modelu niedyrektywnego pozwoliłoby zmniejszyć adekwatność zarzutów wysuwanych wobec stosowanych metod i mechanizmów wykorzystywanych w procesie kształtowania charakteru. Jako jeden z możliwych sposobów zbliżenia etyki cnót do modelu niedyrektywnego wskazuję uwzględnienie zagadnienia Nagelowskiej typologii racji do działania.
    In this article, I contribute to the discussion on contemporary virtue ethics. I present one of the major problems connected with moral education and I argue that modifying virtue ethics in order to make it more similar to the non-directive model would reduce the strength of some of the objections against the methods and mechanisms used in the process of shaping character. As one of the possible ways of bringing virtue ethics closer to the non-directive model I suggest taking into account Thomas Nagel's typology of reasons for action.

    Autorka tekstu dokonała rekonstrukcji i twórczej interpretacji poglądów etycznych Tadeusza Kotarbińskiego, zwłaszcza dotyczących głównego ideału wychowania moralnego, jakim jest człowiek tak zwany porządny. Tekst stanowi zatem próbę udzielenia odpowiedzi na kilka pytań badawczych: 1. Jak zdefiniować „porządnego człowieka”; za pośrednictwem jakich cech charakteru, właściwości osobowości bądź zachowania? W celu udzielenia odpowiedzi zostaną przywołane takie kategorie, jak: godność, dzielność, zaradność, przedsiębiorczość, odpowiedzialność, solidarność, prawdomówność, uczciwość, życzliwość, czujność etyczna. 2. Jaki udział w wychowaniu „porządnego człowieka” ma „sumienie” określane jako najwyższa instancja w zakresie oceny etycznej? 3. Jak, w myśl stanowiska intelektualnego – minimalizmu etycznego, rozstrzygane są przez „porządnego człowieka” kwestie cierpienia, krzywdy czy niesprawiedliwości? 4. Na czym polega wychowanie moralne (człowieka porządnego) w środowisku wychowawczym: szkole, rodzinie, społeczeństwie?
    The author of the text performed a reconstruction and a creative interpretation of the ethical views of Tadeusz Kotarbiński, especially those related to the principal ideal of the moral upbringing, i.e. the shaping of the so-called decent human being. The text is an attempt at providing answers to several research questions, including: 1. How to define “a decent human being”? What traits of character, personality or behavior should be used? The following will be considered: dignity, valor, resourcefulness, entrepreneurship, responsibility, solidarity, truthfulness, honesty, kindness, ethical alertness. 2. What part does the field of moral sensitivity, referred to as “conscience,” play in the upbringing of “a decent human being”? 3. How, in the context of intellectual ethical minimalism, does “a decent human being” perceive suffering, wrongs or injustice? 4. What is moral upbringing (of “a decent human being”) in the upbringing environment (school, family, society)?
