    Based on the assumption that a long-lasting political/social conflict is a phenomenon determining potentially all communicative events in which political speakers representing the conflicted parties participate, irrespective of their individual time and place, this article illustrates an interesting mechanism of activating and realizing the context of the Middle East conflict in the Israeli political discourse, which has been identified in a detailed study of 2009–2014 speeches of the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu. The above mentioned study revealed that this specific mechanism is one of proofs that the Israeli party to this conflict has developed their own, distinguishing way in which they discursively (re)construct the situation in the Middle East. As such, this mechanism also turned out to be one of the key elements responsible for some major regularities in structure, content and functions of Netanyahu’s speeches destined and delivered to audiences either in Israel or outside, which in turn enabled to approach it as a potentially new political genre. The goal of this article is to illustrate how, in the course of six years, Netanyahu activated and realized the context of Middle East conflict in front of diverse audiences, and how this mechanism governed the distribution of preferred messages about the Israeli stance in this struggle across time and settings.

    The aim of the article is to shed light on ongoing situation about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through the lenses of newspaper heading analysis. Newspapers manipulate newspapers heading to persuade and influence public opinion so that political actions may be carried out. Unfortunately, such manipulation can lead to drastic consequences such as violent solutions. Through discourse analysis this study compares and contrasts different newspapers and magazines headlines of the Palestinian Israeli conflict. The researcher has used these newspapers and magazines to show attitudinal differences as reflected in discourses of the newspapers. The researcher collected his data from newspapers and magazines through the Internet. The newspapers and the magazines belong to two communities, each of which has its point of view regarding the conflict. Four major key concepts have emerged in the data: OCCUPATION, TERRORISM, SETTLEMENTS, and PEACE PROCESS. Through talking about these concepts and events, analysis of news headlines, grammatical and lexical metaphor, euphemism, stereotypes, and other rhetoric and linguistic devices are used to achieve intentions.

    The paper attempts to provide an analyses of poetically-encoded discourse about generation change in selected verses written by outstanding Russian poets of the 19th and 20th century – Pushkin, Zhukovsky, Baratynsky, Esenin and Mayakovsky, under a partial comparison with similar motives appearing by the German poet Goethe. The central problem is the axiological assessment of continuity vs. conflict of generations as well as the general confrontation with the “challenge of time”, both from existential and socially determined perspectives. The concepts of positive vs. negative connoted changes and the problem of their acceptability in the analysed verses are presented by means of a formal-semantic description with a special stress on language entities denoting the conceptual sphere of time and generation change.

    Opis:
    Artykuł jest próbą pokazania, jakie znaczenie dla glottodydaktyki polonistycznej mają koncepcje C. Kramsch zawarte w książce „Context and Culture in Language Teaching”. Omawiam w nim podstawowe założenia teorii Kramsch, pokazuję również, w jaki sposób te koncepcje mogą być wykorzystane w praktyce podczas zajęć JPJO, z wykorzystaniem do tego tekstów literackich. Przywołuję także pracę D. Hymesa dotyczącą etnografii mowy, do której odnosiła się Kramsch. Teorie Hymesa omówiła szczegółowo G. Zarzycka w publikacji „Dialog międzykulturowy. Teoria oraz opis komunikowania się cudzoziemców przyswajających język polski”. Ponieważ celem niniejszego artykułu jest przybliżenie książki Kramsch, dla jasności wywodu przytaczam koncepcje badacza, powołując się na Zarzycką.
    The article presents D. Hymes’s “ethnography of speaking” and C. Kramsch’s “philosophy of conflict” as interesting ideas in language teaching. The author attempts to describe how both theories can be adopted by teachers of Polish as foreign language, especially when they use Polish literary texts in class.

    Opis:
    The article analyses contents of speeches of parliament members in Sejm of the Republic of Poland during the parliamentary discussion of February 5th, 2015 over the information for Sejm and Senat of the Republic of Poland on Poland’s participation in the works of the EU between July and December 2014. The purpose of the analysis of the parliamentary discourse was to indicate differences and similarities in opinions of the representatives of major political powers in Poland within the scope of assessment of the foreign policy of the European Union. The analysis shows mainly lack of coherence in the foreign policy of the EU and existence of clear, firm division at the level of assessment of role/ meaning of Poland in the given area of activity.
    Artykuł stanowi analizę treści wystąpień posłów w Sejmie RP podczas sejmowej dyskusji z 5 lutego 2015 r. nad informacją dla Sejmu i Senatu Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej o udziale Rzeczypospolitej w pracach UE w okresie lipiec–grudzień 2014 r. Celem analizy dyskursu parlamentarnego było wskazanie na podobieństwa i różnice postaw przedstawicieli głównych sił politycznych w Polsce w zakresie ocen polityki zagranicznej Unii Europejskiej. Autor ukazuje przede wszystkim brak spójności w polityce zagranicznej UE oraz istnienie wyraźnego, trwałego podziału na poziomie ocen roli/znaczenia Polski we wskazanym obszarze aktywności.
