    Opis:
    Rovigo is the name of small town in the northern part of Italy. No Baedeker, no guide notices the name in its hot list of Italian “miracles”. Rovigo is the common, ordinary place, no spectacular monuments or tourist attractions one can meet there. In this context, it seems to be a bit enigmatic and striking, that the famous poem by Zbigniew Herbert has been entitled after Rovigo (it’s the title of the penultimate set of poems by Herbert, as well). Why Herbert decided to honor such “invisible city” in his poetry? The author brings out the main motives of the poem and tries to delineate deep semantics of the very name Rovigo.

    In the recent paper, non-linear methods of data analysis were used to study bubble departure synchronisation. In the experiment, bubbles were generated in engine oils from two neighbouring brass nozzles (with an inner diameter of 1 mm). During the experiment, the time series of air pressure oscillations in the air supply system and voltage changes on phototransistor were recorded. The analysis of bubble departure synchronisation was performed using a correlation coefficient. The following methods of non-linear data analysis are considered. Fast Fourier Transformation, autocorrelation, attractor reconstruction, correlation dimension, largest Lyapunov exponent and recurrence plot analysis were used to examine the correlation between bubbles behaviour and character of pressure fluctuations. Non-linear analysis of bubble departure synchronisation revealed that the way of bubble departures from two neighbouring nozzles does not depend simply on the character of pressure fluctuations in the nozzle air supply systems. The chaotic changes of the air pressure oscillations do not always determine the chaotic bubble departures.

    Dorota Masłowska’s Wojna polsko-ruska pod flagą biało-czerwoną employs various types of linguistic innovations. One of them is a mistaken selection of the number of nouns. This stylistic means results in linguistic humour. In the Russian translation of the novel reflecting this phenomenon should not pose any problems. However, neither of the instances of the stylistic means analysed in the paper was reflected in the Russian target text. It is difficult to determine why the translator did not attempt to show Russian readers a reconstruction of the language of the Polish text. As a result, Irina Lappo’s translation lacks the poetic qualities and refreshing touches of Masłowska’s language.

    The article answers the question of the causes of departures from the Church in the first centuries of Christianity. The source of analysis is the Panarion, the largest patristic catalogue of heresies by Epiphanius of Salamina. The structure of the article is determined by the motives for leaving the Church: a) making too high demands on oneself and being unable to admit one’s error; b) being subjected to manipulation by others; c) being formally removed from the Church.

    Departures is the introductory volume to the interdisciplinary field of Critical Refugee Studies, written by the Critical Refugee Studies Collective and published by the University of California Press. The book works on many levels and can be read in as many ways. Partly a guide, partly a manifesto, the book dutifully performs its pre-set task of introducing the general reader to the field of Critical Refugee Studies, all the while engaging with larger issues and challenges. Its manifold nature is made explicit by the title itself, intended both as an allusion to the action of leaving and to that of deviating from a regular path. Highly readable and sharp-edged, tailor-made for an audience that includes (and transcends) colleges and universities, this text will likely find its way into many class syllabi and reading lists. Located at the crossroads of theory and resistance, advocacy and academia, Departures oozes rage, energy, and optimism, and is unapologetically political. The field of Critical Refugee Studies, the authors state in the “Introduction,” is “a way to seize control of image and narrative, by and for refugees, centered in refugee epistemologies and experiences." As a community-engaged critical field, it postulates the necessity of moving past pre-existing humanitarian narratives and frameworks, exposing the underlying threads that tie militarism and migration, power and memory, empire and race. Channeling Somali British and Palestinian poetry, Syrian visual art, and Vietnamese American independent cinematography, the seven contributors call for new methodologies and approaches, as well as for new stories that go beyond the simple “formula of … escape, despair, and rescue” embedded in mainstream refugee narratives. The book's aim is to break that mold, underscoring the “invisible relations of power that broker how we see and consume the refugee subject”; that is to say, to radically twist the ways in which the latter is defined by the law, by the arts, and by the collective conscious. Bold and provocative, Departures will not fail to spark conversations in the coming years.

    The aim of this article is to set variables that influence to make decision about the travel of pensioners. To choose the optimal set of factors determining destination of departure was used log-linear analysis because the research includes categorization variables. The information about tourists activity in pensioners households were taken from survey „Tourism and recreation in households” conducted by the Central Statistics Office 2009.

    W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań dotyczące klasyfikacji wyjazdów turystycznych seniorów ze względu na rodzaj wyjazdu oraz segmentacji gospodarstw domowych seniorów w Polsce ze względu na ich uczestnictwo w ruchu turystycznym. W badaniu uwzględniono indywidualne wyjazdy zrealizowane przez gospodarstwa domowe seniorów w okresie 1.10.2008-30.09.2009. Do klasyfikacji wyjazdów turystycznych ze względu na rodzaj wyjazdu wykorzystano drzewa klasyfikacyjne, natomiast do segmentacji gospodarstw domowych wykorzystano drzewo regresyjne.
    In the article the present results of the classification of touristic travels of seniors according to the kind of the travel and the segmentation of households of seniors according to their participation in tourist traffic. In the research were used the individual trips realized by seniors households in Poland in period 1.10.2008-30.09.2009. The classification of touristic travels of seniors was conducted by means of classification trees and the segmentation of households – by means of regression trees.
