    Opis:
    The issue of career potential is currently very popular. Experience and potential − that is what the most of employers are looking for. Employers are wondering whether the candidate has the potential to take on a new challenge training. The article attempts to bring the issue to measure the career potential. It presents the most common tools used by employers in the recruitment process and the most common mistakes committed by them. In the next part PCM model is shown, which can be a helpful tool in recruitment procedures − a tool used to assess the potential of training.

    The orientation of a contemporary society towards a global career creates the need of rebuilding the frames of human activity and innovation. The most important is active participation and cooperation in a reality undergoing a permanent change. Conceptualization of quality new apprehension of career issues as an individual’s possession indicates a many-sided character of a contemporary discourse, which combines implications of an interdisciplinary dialogue and creates the need to review theoretical reflection about the way of understanding career and conditions, as well as indicators of its formation and construction. The „prodevelopmental orientation” is a remedy for a contemporary human being to be oneself again in this situation in the world of careers. In this attitude towards the definition of „a career”, one underlines importance of constructing (not choosing) a career for designing a quality of life.

    Opis:
    Niniejszy artykuł zawiera analizę odpowiedzi studentów na pytania o to, w jaki sposób oceniają swoje przygotowanie do pracy zawodowej jako specjaliści językowi (tłumacze). W przeprowadzonych z nimi wywiadach mówią też o swojej percepcji nauczycieli przekładu i wpływie, jaki mają oni na zdobywane przez studentów umiejętności. Pytania stawiane studentom w wywiadach dotyczyły także postrzeganych przez nich problemów i trudności związanych z rozwojem umiejętności profesjonalnych tłumacza, a także z funkcjonowaniem na rynku usług tłumaczeniowych. Przeprowadzone badanie pokazują z jednej strony wyraźne zaangażowanie studentów w proces samokształcenia i samorozwoju, z drugiej zaś wskazują obszary, w których oddziaływanie dydaktyczne nauczycieli mogłoby mocniej wspomagać studentów w przechodzeniu do wyższych stadiów rozwojowych w budowaniu tzw. potencjału kariery.
    This article presents the researched students’ answers to the questions concerning how they assess their own readiness to function as language specialists (translators). The interviewed students talk about their perception of their translation teachers and the influence the latter have on the students’ pathway towards new skills and competences. The questions posed to the students also pertained to the problems and difficulties that they see on their way to becoming professional translators and effective entrepreneurs on the translation market. The research results show, on the one hand, that the students are engaged into the processes of self-education and self-realization. On the other hand, also noticeable are such educational areas in which the teachers guidance and facilitation could empower the students more in their transition to higher levels of development in building their career potential.

    Nowe podstawy teoretyczne dotyczące rozumienia poradnictwa kariery, szybkie zmiany w strukturze zatrudnienia, rzeczywistości ekonomicznej, przepisach prawnych, poziomie bezrobocia wśród młodzieży i dorosłych, troska o jakość środowiska zawodowego i efektywność pracowników, problemy dotyczące przejścia od okresu nauki do okresu pracy zawodowej oraz zmiany demograficzne w strukturach pracowniczych implikują zmianę treści, ram czasowych, stosowanych technik i odbiorców usług związanych z rozwojem kariery. Artykuł dotyczy konstruowania kariery edukacyjno-zawodowej przez młodzież w oparciu o przeprowadzone badania w województwie kujawsko-pomorskim w 2014 roku. Zwrócono w nich uwagę na obszary dotyczące: diagnozowania potencjału osobowego, procesu planowania ścieżki edukacyjno-zawodowej w oparciu o lokalny rynek pracy, przygotowania młodzieży do uczestnictwa w rynku pracy, czyli budowania przez młodzież zawodowego „obrazu siebie”.
    New theoretical basis for the understanding of career counseling, rapid changes in the structure of employment, economic reality, legislation, the level of unemployment among young people and adults, the care about the quality of the professional environment and employees’ efficiency, the problems with the period of transition from training to work, occupational and demographic changes in the employee structures imply changes in the content, the time frame, the techniques used and the recipients of services related to career development. The article concerns the construction of educational and professional career by young people based on research conducted in Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodship in 2014. A lot of attention was paid to the areas relating to: diagnosing personal potential, planning educational and career paths based on the local labor market, preparing young people to participate in the labor market, which is viewed as youth’s attempts at building professional “self-image”.
