Opis:
W pracy przedstawiono opis cięgien kompozytowych CFCC do sprężania konstrukcji betonowych. Scharakteryzowano materiał, omówiono zagadnienia związane z konstrukcjami sprężonymi – zakotwienia cięgien, długość transmisji, straty siły sprężającej w porównaniu z cięgnami stalowymi, oraz pokrótce scharakteryzowano procedury projektowe w wybranych normach.
The paper consist of a brief description of Carbon Fibre Composite Cables for prestressing concrete structures. Their parameters were presented as well as issues combined with prestressing of structures – anchorages, transfer length or prestressing force losses compared with conventional steel tendons. Furthermore, design procedures according to three chosen standards were analysed and compared.

The following text presents possibilities of the analysis of nonlinear effects in research of high-durability of carbon fibre composites, on the example of the sailing ship mast. The special attention was returned on the possibility using of modern techniques of measurement deformations with optical fibre sensor with the change of the light wavelength - Fibre Bragg Grating. Analyse the diagnostic problem of condition in consequence dynamics analysis of composite structure.
Tekst przedstawia możliwości analizy zjawisk nieliniowych w badaniach dynamiki wysokowytrzymałych struktur z kompozytów węglowych, na przykładzie masztu jachtu żaglowego. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na możliwość wykorzystania nowoczesnych technik pomiarów odkształceń z czujnikami światłowodowymi ze zmianą długości fali świetlnej - siatki Bragga. Przeanalizowano problem diagnozowania stanu na podstawie analizy dynamiki konstrukcji kompozytowych.

One of the most important parameters in the selection of composite materials used for the protection of avionics instruments exposed to high temperatures are ablative properties. They constitute the main criterion in determining the composition and thickness of the protective material. In this article, the authors determine the ablative properties of a polymer matrix with carbon reinforcement and check the effect of using the MMT additive (montmorillonite) on the change in the resistance to the impact of a high heat flux. The tested materials play an important role in the defence, aviation and space industry. Ablative materials are the only ones to protect the rear wall surface from an excessive temperature rise while using a thin insulation wall. For the sake of the research, we prepared a series of samples of the composite produced with epoxy resin LH 145, H 147 hardener, carbon fibre mats and the addition of MMT. The prepared samples were tested on a unique stand in laboratory conditions. The findings obtained from the experimental testing after a detailed analysis were tabulated and presented in the form of graphs. The authors determined the ablative loss of mass of the individual samples, compared their internal temperatures, which had been measured with thermocouples, as well as the temperature on the backside of the sample. In addition, in order to complement the experimental studies of determining the temperature rise on the rear surface, the authors used a thermal imaging camera. Besides, they took photos of different layers of the examined structure, which had been exposed, to a heat stream, by means of a scanning microscope.

The study demonstrates the possibilities of using, as well as the features associated with the use of, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for military and peaceful purposes. Information is provided on the need to use components that would contribute towards ensuring thermal protection against modern laser weapons. The requirements for such materials are given, according to the field of application of the UAV. An analysis of the available materials that can be used to create thermal protection of UAVs against laser weapons is provided. The thermophysical characteristics of various materials are presented. The work presents technological features of production and properties of low-density carbon-carbon composite materials (CCCM). It is proposed to consider the prospects of using CCCM materials for not only the UAV structural components but also other purposes.

This research aimed to explore the influence of fiber laying angles on the bending resistance properties of carbon fiber/foam sandwich structural composites. Four kinds of composites with the following laying angles: [0°]8, [0°/45°/90°/-45°]s, [0°/90°]4 and [45°/-45°]4 were prepared and tested in three-point bending experiments. The results obtained showed that the bending resistance performance was the best when the laying angle was [0°]8, while it was the worst when the laying angle was [45°/-45°]4. Besides, it was found that the tensile performance was the best when the fibers were arranged in the 0° direction when the strength utilisation rate was the highest. In addition, by observing the failure morphologies of the composites, the delamination and foam cracking were found in the four groups of composites. In contrast, the phenomenon of significant fracture was found on composites with a laying angle of [45°/-45°]4 only, indicating it had a poor bending resistance performance.

In the paper the microstructures of WE43 matrix composites reinforced with carbon fibres have been characterised. The influence of reinforcement type and T6 heat treatment (a solution treatment at 525°C for 8 h, a hot water quench and a subsequent ageing treatment at 250°C for 16 h) on microstructure have been evaluated. The light microscope and scanning electron microscope investigations have been carried out. No significant differences in samples reinforced with non-coated textiles have been reported. The substantial changes in sample reinforced with nickel-coated textile have been observed. The segregation of alloying elements to the matrix-reinforcement layer has been identified. The T6 heat treatment caused the appearance of disperse precipitates of β phase, but the process cannot be considered as satisfactory (irregular distribution, low volume fraction, relatively large size).

The use of composite materials is continuously increasing in modern transport. This process is especially noticeable in aviation. The mass percentage of epoxy resin composites in contemporary aircraft constructions is usually higher than 50%, and these materials must meet increasingly demanding requirements. In these circumstances, in addition to mass and strength, it is necessary to predict other properties of the material, such as abrasion resistance. The article presents the analysis of the process of abrasion of carbon fibre reinforced polymers reinforced with various fillers. Straight carbon fibre mats were used for the tests. In addition, powders of pumice, alumina, silicon carbide, and glass microspheres at various concentrations in relation to the matrix were used as fillers. In order to investigate the influence of external factors on the abrasion process, each group of samples was subjected to abrasion under different external conditions: in an insulated environment, in the presence of water and loose abrasives: brown fused alumina (BFA) and white fused alumina (WFA). The measurements were carried out using a precision balance and an electron microscope. The results allow concluding on which kind of filler and in what concentration contributes to improvement of the abrasion resistance of the composite material the most. In addition, it was found that the conditions in which abrasion occurs have a very large impact on the course of this process.

Aircraft are exposed to lightning strikes. Lightning strike protection (LSP) devices involve additional weight of the aircraft. Therefore, multifunctional materials that allows the conductivity of electrical current and, simultaneously, holds the mechanical properties required to withstand the typical conditions for an aerospace material are widely researched. A typical resin used in aviation is an insulator, so main research is done to reduce its resistance. On the other hand, the type of reinforcement can have a large influence on the electrical conductivity in the plane of reinforcement. The aim of the article is to evaluate the effect of the type and the basis weight of reinforcement on the electrical conductivity. For this purpose, with the use of a hydraulic press, different four-layer composites based on epoxy resin were produced. Each differing is in combination of carbon, glass layers and their basis weight (from 48 kg/m2 to 245 kg/m2 ). The measuring proceedings were carried by an RMS multi meter and, more accurate, by an LCR meter with 4 selectable test frequencies. The measurements were made both along the strand fibres and at a 45-degree angle. The results made it possible to determine which reinforcement of aircraft composites should be selected at the aircraft design level to provide increased electrical conductivity along the reinforcement fibres and thus influence one of the factors affecting the protection of the aircraft against the effects of lightning

The presented work describes the results of examination of the mechanical properties of castings made either of AlSi9Mg alloy matrix composite reinforced with short carbon fibre or of the pure AlSi9Mg alloy. The tensile strength, the yield strength, Young’s modulus, and the unit elongation were examined both for initial castings and for castings made of the remelted composite or AlSi9Mg alloy. After preparing metallographic specimens, the structure of the remelted materials was assessed. A few non-metallic inclusions were observed in the structure of the remelted composite, not occurring in the initial castings. Mechanical testing revealed that all the examined properties of the initial composite material exceed those of the non-reinforced matrix. A decrease in mechanical properties was stated both for the metal matrix and for the composite after the remelting process, but this decrease was so slight that it either does not preclude them from further use or does not restrict the range of their application.

This paper reports the experimental results of a study investigating the effect of adhesive joint end shapes on the load-bearing capacity of carbon fibre-reinforce polymer (CFRP) and steel bonded joints. In the study, samples with new proprietary types of CFRP strip ends were examined. All samples were subjected to tensile quasi-static loading with a load rate of 1.5 mm/min. A total of 60 samples with CFRP/steel single overlap joints were tested to determine their ultimate load-bearing capacity, effective bond length and failure modes for the above variables. 8 joint end shapes of normal CFRP modulus with three lengths of CFRP overlap and one CFRP cross section (20 x 1.4 mm) were used in this study. Laboratory test results showed that joint end shape has visible effect on the load capacity of the CFRP/steel bonded joints. The load-bearing capacity of the samples with a regular joint end was up to 28 % lower than that of the samples with a plan-shaped end and 30 % lower than that of the samples with a chamfered end with adhesive outflow. The differences in the results decreased with increase in joint end length towards the effective end length.

The article consists in a review of achievements in the field of glass, carbon, aramid polyethylene, polypropylene and ceramic fibres. The manufacturing methods, structure, mechanical and thermal properties of the materials were discussed, as well as using them for making-up the lightweight and durable polymeric composites, which find wide applications at the materials engineering and modern technologies.

To promote the application of rubber-cement composites as the main bearing structure and key components in practical engineering under frequent dynamic disturbances, in this work, the split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) cyclic impact tests of rubber-cement composite specimens with four different confine modes were carried out in which the impact load increased sequentially. The relationship between average strain rate, ultimate strain and impact times and the relationship between peak stress, damage energy, ultimate strain and incident energy were analyzed. The results showed that the appropriate confine reinforcement treatment can make rubber-cement composite give full play to its deformation ability when it was completely damaged. Carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) sheet and steel cylinder can work together with the rubber-cement composite matrix to resist impact load, which effectively improves the structural strength, damage fracture energy, and cyclic impact resistance of the rubber-cement composite. Finally, based on the effect difference of confine modes, the simplified plane force models of rubber-cement composite specimens with four different confine modes were established, which clearly revealed the completely different impact resistance mechanism of the rubber-cement composites with different constraints under cyclic impact loading.
