Opis:
A procedure of standard strength tests of reinforcement bars conducted at present at the ITG KOMAG is discussed. Taking advantage of the bibliographic review, concerning tests of reinforced concrete with steel reinforcement bars, a possibility of using the KOMAG testing infrastructure to broaden the scope of tests of reinforcement bars was analyzed. Due to a more and more common use of composite bars for reinforcing and strengthening concrete structures, the methods of testing their strength properties are discussed. The conditions enabling to conduct strength tests of composite reinforced concrete bars at the ITG KOMAG are determined.

Predomination of sandy bedload is typical of the anastomosing channels of the Narew River. Several types of in-channel accretionary macroforms have been found in these channels: side bars, concave-bank bars, plug bars, point bars, linguoid bars, and mid-channel bars. The first three types are relatively rare, point bars occur only exceptionally, while linguoid bars and mid-channel bars are quite common. The bars usually occur in main channels, which are the master routes of sand transport in the whole anastomosing system of the Narew. The lower parts of the bars are built of coarse- and medium-grained sand, similarly to the sediments in the deeper parts of the channels. Fine-grained sand, locally alternating with organic-rich muddy sand, predominates usually in the upper parts; peat with high content of sand is present in the highest parts of some bars. All bars are rapidly colonised and stabilised by plants. It is for this reason and due to the low energy of the river that the bar sediments have a high preservation potential. The development of bars is usually not accompanied by lateral migration of channels. Consequently, sediment accretion in bars is one of the factors leading to gradual narrowing of channels. Deposits of some sand-bars, when preserved in fossil record, may probably be represented by characteristic "wings" in the outer parts of ribbon-like sand bodies.

Safety and operation efficiency of the particle accelerators strongly depend on the quality of the supplied electric current and is affected by the electric properties of all elements of the circuit. In this paper the capacitance of the superconducting bus-bars applied in the cryogenic by-pass line for the SIS100 particle accelerator at FAIR is analysed. The unit capacitance of the bus-bars is calculated numerically and found experimentally. A 2D numerical model of a cross-section of the cable is applied. The capacitance is found with three methods. The stored energy, electric displacement field and charge gathered on the surfaces of the device are calculated and analysed. The obtained values are consistent. Experimental measurements are performed using the resonance method. The measuring system is undamped using a negative conductance converter. Small discrepancies are observed between numerical and experimental results. The obtained values are within the requirements of the accelerator design.

It is known that sub-surface discontinuities of matter, internal voids, inclusions of other materials or delaminations of the structure can be revealed on the surface temperature distribution. An important element of IR thermography investigations is the application of an appropriate heat source to heat the examined object. This article discusses the use of eddy currents for identification of reinforcing bars in concrete samples. The experiments have the laboratory character and are used primarily for qualitative assessment of the influence of bar diameter and concrete cover thickness on the identification of reinforcement in concrete elements. In order to induce a transient heat flow in tested samples, the eddy currents (EC) generator from IFF GmbH was used. After the pulse was completed, the surface temperature distribution was recorded using FLIR T620 infrared camera. The following experimental studies validate the practical application of active IR with EC to locate and assess the technical condition of reinforcing bars in reinforced concrete structures in buildings and civil engineering structures.

The article contains the further outline of the calculation methods for stabilizer bars. Modern technological and structural solutions in contemporary cars are reflected also in the construction and manufacture of stabilizer bars. A proper construction and the selection of parameters influence the strength properties, the weight, durability and reliability as well as the selection of an appropriate production method.

The algorithm of optimization of trusses is presented in the paper, where for topology optimization the bars exchange method is used. In the first case, the problem aimed at cost minimization with a constraint set on global stiffness is formulated. In the second case, the problem of minimizing the cost function subjected to stress and cross-sectional area constraints is discussed and here the multiple-load case is taken into consideration. The conditions for introduction of topology modification and its acceptance are specified. The paper is illustrated with three examples.

The paper presents the results of circuit-field calculations of induction motor with broken bars of lower cage and upper cage. Static characteristics of the motor for different cases of rotor asymmetry were compared. Stator current was used as a diagnostic signal to evaluate the degree of rotor damage. Bandpass filters of Mathcad program were used to separate additional components generated in the stator current at the asymmetry of rotor.

In the paper influence of the damping in the sandwich bar on its dynamic stability is studied using analytical methods. This paper presents an analysis of dynamic buckling of a sandwich bar compressed by a periodically variable force. In order to determine the dynamic stability of the bar equations of its transverse vibration were formulated. From the equations of motion, differential equations interrelating of the dynamic deflection with space and time were derived. The partial differential equations were solved using the method of separation of variables (Fourier’s method). Then the ordinary differential equation describing the bar vibrations was solved. An analysis of the solution became the basis for determining the regions of sandwich bar motion instability. Finally, the value of the compressive force at which dynamic stability occurs have been calculated.

One of the main concerns that limit the widespread use of Fibre-Reinforced Polymers (FRP) bars as internal reinforcement for reinforced concrete (RC) structures is their relatively unexplored response to elevated temperatures. The behaviour of FRP reinforcement at elevated temperature as well as their post-fire behaviour can be different from conventional reinforcement and depends on the properties of the constituents of the bars. Therefore, the fire resistance of FRP-RC structures is an important issue that needs careful investigation before FRP reinforcement can be implemented in RC structures. The experimental results for full-scale FRP-RC beams subjected to specific fire action were presented and discussed in this paper. The specimens were exposed to heat in the mid-section from below (tension zone) and from the sides. As one of the main aims was to examine the influence of different reinforcement configurations, the testing was made for concrete beams reinforced with three different types of FRP bars: (i) basalt-FRP (BFRP), (ii) hybrid FRP with carbon and basalt fibres (HFRP) and (iii) nano-hybrid FRP (nHFRP), with modification of the epoxy matrix of the rebars. The present work describes the behaviour of FRP-RC beams exposed to fire conditions and simultaneous loading (50 % of their ultimate strength capacity at normal temperature) and unloaded beams were tested after the cooling phase in order to evaluate their residual resistance. Present work shows that the type of FRP bars used has a direct influence on the outcomes and the way of destruction. The maximum ductility, the longest heating time of approximately 100 minutes, was obtained for beams reinforced with BFRP bars and attained deflections were corresponded to the value of 162 mm.

Zbrojenie wykonane z kompozytów polimerowych zbrojonych włóknem ciągłym (FRP) uważa się obecnie za zbrojenie alternatywne do zbrojenia stalowego. W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań odporności prętów zbrojeniowych wykonanych z hybrydowych (bazaltowo-węglowych) kompozytów FRP na działanie środowiska alkalicznego symulującego współpracę pręta z otuliną betonową. Modyfikacja składu prętów bazaltowych przez częściową zamianę włóknami węglowymi poprawiła ich odporność na działanie środowiska alkalicznego. Natomiast modyfikacja matrycy epoksydowej nanokrzemionką nie przyniosła spodziewanej poprawy odporności chemicznej.
Reinforcement bars made of fiber reinforced polymer composites (FRP ) is now considered as an alternative reinforcement to steel reinforcement. This article presents the results of resistance tests of reinforcing bars made of hybrid (basalt-carbon) FRP composites to an alkaline environment simulating the cooperation of the bar with concrete cover. Modification of the composition of basalt bars by partial replacement with carbon fibers improved their resistance to the alkaline environment. However, modification of the epoxy matrix with nanosilica did not bring the expected improvement of chemical resistance.

Crack propagation in concrete structures is a very complicated process. An experimental method to predict the stress distribution of a cracked GFRP reinforced concrete flexural beam is presented. The beam subjected to four-point bending is internally reinforced with unidirectional GFRP bars. The aim of this investigation is to study the flexural performance of reinforced concrete members strengthened using GFRP bars. For the flexural tests performed on reinforced concrete beams strengthened with GFRP bars, the ultimate load of the beams strengthened with GFRP was reasonably increased. The mode of failure for beams reinforced with GFRP sections is slightly different compared with the traditional beam. The GFRP reinforced concrete beams fail either by concrete crushing at the compression zone or rupture of the GFRP reinforcement.

The paper presents the results of the experimental tests of Mg/Al bimetallic bars rolling process in classic and multi-radial modified round-oval-round passes. The bimetallic bar consist of magnesium core, grade AZ31 and aluminium outer layer, grade 1050A. The stocks were round bars with diameter 22.5 mm with an aluminium layer share of 28%. As a result of rolling in four passes, bars of a diameter of about 17 mm were obtained. A bimetallic feedstock was manufactured using an explosive welding method. The use of the designed arrangement of multi-radial modified stretching passes resulted in obtaining Mg/Al bimetallic bars with an uniform distribution of the cladding layer over the bar perimeter and high quality of shear strength between individual layers compared to Mg/Al bars obtained in the classic passes.

The problem of torsional budding of restrained thin-walled bars of an open constant bisymmetnc cross-section was solved using the minimum total stationary elastic energy condition (J. S. Przemieniecki 1968 Theory of Matrix Structural Analysis McGraw-Hill, New York) and the Newton-Raphson method (S. C. Chapra and R. P. Canale 1998 Numerical Methods for Engineers McGraw-Hill Book Company). The consideration was restricted to the elastic structures. The example presented in the paper helps to assess the correctness of the proposed solution. This article is an addition to the author's considerations contained in M Kujawa 2012 TASK Quart. 16 (1/2) 5.

The major reasons that cause the damage of damper bars in the leeward side are found in this paper. It provides a route for the structure optimization design of a hydro generator. Firstly, capacity of a 24 MW bulb tubular turbine generator is taken as an example in this paper. The transient electromagnetic field model is established, and the correctness of the model is verified by the comparison of experimental results and simulation data. Secondly, when the generator is operated at rated condition, the eddy current density distributions of damper bars are studied. And the asymmetric phenomenon of the eddy current density on damper bars is discovered. The change laws of the eddy currents in damper bars are determined through further analysis. Thirdly, through the study of eddy current distributions under different conditions, it is confirmed that the stator slots and armature reaction are the main factors to affect the asymmetric distribution of the eddy current in damper bars. Finally, the studies of the magnetic density distribution and theoretical analysis revealed the asymmetric distribution mechanism of eddy current density.

W artykule przedstawiono zarys metod obliczeniowych i produkcyjnych stabilizatorów samochodowych. Nowoczesne rozwiązania technologiczno-konstrukcyjne we współczesnych samochodach znajdują również odzwierciedlenie w konstrukcji i produkcji stabilizatorów. Prawidłowa konstrukcja i dobór parametrów mają wpływ na cechy wytrzymałościowe, ciężar, trwałość oraz niezawodność a także wybór właściwej metody produkcyjnej. Dobór technologii wytwarzania ma zasadniczy wpływ na jakość i trwałość stabilizatorów.
The article outlines the calculation and production methods for stabilizer bars. Modern technological and structural solutions in contemporary cars are reflected also in the construction and manufacturing of stabilizer bars. A proper construction and the selection of parameters influence the strength properties, the weight, durability and reliability as well as the selection of an appropriate production method. The selection of the manufacturing process has a fundamental impact on the quality and durability of the stabilizer bars.
