Opis:
The algal medium was optimized to increase the biomass and lipid production of Chlorococcum oleofaciens. The significant variables were screened and chosen from previously reported algal culture media using Plackett Burman Design (PBD). Optimization of the significant variables were performed using central composite design. The Pareto chart for PBD revealed that the salts such as sodium bicarbonate, sodium nitrate, potassium nitrate and ferrous sulphate had enhanced the biomass and lipid production. The variables and its effect on the responses were further studied by central composite design (CCD). A new medium was formulated based on the response surface methodology. The predicted concentration of NaHCO3, NaNO3, KNO3, MgSO4.7H2O were found to be 6.75 g/L, 0.75 g/L, 1.88 g/L and 0.35 g/L respectively. The actual and the predicted total lipid yield for the optimized media was around 0.74 g/L and 0.78 g/L respectively. The optimal medium has been named as AM medium. Growth and the lipid yields of C. oleofaciens were found higher in AM medium. The specific growth rates of C. oleofaciens in AM and CFTRI media were found to be 0.14 day-1 and 0.19 day-1 respectively. The biomass produced by the optimized AM medium was found to be 2.7 times greater compared to the CFTRI medium. The lipid was extracted and GC-MS was performed which revealed that the fatty acids were predominantly of the class C15:0, C18:0, C16:0 and C12:0. It is concluded that besides lipid content, AM medium increased the cell number leading to the increase in biomass.

Opis:
Flexirubins are the unique type of bacterial pigments produced by the bacteria from the genus Chryseobacterium, which are used in the treatment of chronic skin disease, eczema etc. and may serve as a chemotaxonomic marker. Chryseobacterium artocarpi CECT 8497, an yellowish-orange pigment producing strain was investigated for maximum production of pigment by optimizing medium composition employing response surface methodology (RSM). Culture conditions affecting pigment production were optimized statistically in shake flask experiments. Lactose, l-tryptophan and KH2PO4 were the most significant variables affecting pigment production. Box Behnken design (BBD) and RSM analysis were adopted to investigate the interactions between variables and determine the optimal values for maximum pigment production. Evaluation of the experimental results signified that the optimum conditions for maximum production of pigment (521.64 mg/L) in 50 L bioreactor were lactose 11.25 g/L, l-tryptophan 6 g/L and KH2PO4 650 ppm. Production under optimized conditions increased to 7.23 fold comparing to its production prior to optimization. Results of this study showed that statistical optimization of medium composition and their interaction effects enable short listing of the significant factors influencing maximum pigment production from Chryseobacterium artocarpi CECT 8497. In addition, this is the first report optimizing the process parameters for flexirubin type pigment production from Chryseobacterium artocarpi CECT 8497.

Opis:
Alginates are regarded as high-value biomacromolecules. A pursuit for new bacterial species that can produce novel alginates for various applications in different industries including the pharmaceutical and food industries as well as the field of medicine is still needed. Variations in the molecular weight and sugar composition of alginates depend on the culture medium composition and different physical conditions provided during fermentation. The aim of this study was to obtain a maximum alginate production by the potent Egyptian bacterial strain Azotobacter vinelandii , out of the 30 tested Azotobacter isolates. The composition of the production medium and environmental growth conditions during fermentation were optimized to ensure consistency and to enhance alginate production. Nine variables were optimized using the Plackett-Burman randomization method. Eighteen trials were performed to verify the variables to obtain high alginate production levels. Temperature as well as sucrose and NaCl concentrations have been found to affect the alginate production by A. vinelandii significantly and were therefore chosen for further improvement of the medium using the Box-Behnken design. The Box Behnken model was optimized mathematically using the Excel solver. The results were analyzed statistically by ANOVA multiple regression analysis and different statistical methods (coefficient, standard error, t statistic, and confidence interval). On using the Plackett-Burman and Box-Behnken designs, the biggest alginate production rates were found to be 3.8 and 4.94 g/l/day, respectively. Addition of 00.1 g/l MgSO4, 0.01 g/l FSO4, and 0.001 g/l NaMoO4 to the culture medium further enhanced the alginate production and yielded 5.4 g/l/day and 8.5 g/l/day. Thus, the obtained alginate was purified using Sephadex G-100 Gel chromatography and compared with a standard by IR correlation. The alginate was found to be composed of 50–70% carbohydrates and 60–80% uronic acid. The techniques used in this survey were found useful for improving the production of alginates.

Opis:
Paper identifies obstacles limiting functioning and development of small and medium construction enterprises. It also includes a description of cluster supply chain (CSC) idea as a suggested solution to some of the problems resulting from the small scale of company activities. One of more important issues of every distribution centre, i.e. portions of deliveries smaller than truck capacity for particular consumers, is also discussed. This problem was formulated for the first time in dairy industry, therefore, it was called milk runs. Moreover, the authors of this paper presented the outcome analysis of survey carried out among construction engineers and managers. This study aimed at determining organizational principles for logistic centre working with CSC framework. The mathematical model depicting milk runs deliveries with overtime consideration, done for many construction sites within a distribution centre is presented hereunder. This model may be potentially used to optimize distribution centres working within cluster supply chain framework.

Opis:
It is a core content of enterprise performance research evaluating and comparing enterprise performance in dynamic environment. In allusion to this problem, a variety of enterprise performance assessment methods and indexes systems are proposed. Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a kind of effective mathematical model which is used for comparing the performance among enterprises or different units inside an enterprise, based on the real-world data. Through comparing the performance, DEA can evaluate the enterprise performance from scale effectiveness and technological effectiveness, and then get the performance optimization goals. Critical Factor Index (CFI) is a new enterprise performance assessment method proposed in recent years. This method, based on the performance perception of business leaders or staffs, evaluates the enterprise performance in different dimensions, and then gets the optimization strategy of enterprise resource allocation to improve integrated enterprise performance. This paper has structured a new evaluation and optimization system for performance of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which combine properly the DEA and CFI method to evaluate and optimize the SMEs' performance comprehensively, and has confirm this system with data of 5 Finnish SMEs.
