Opis:
Many researchers seek to identify the most common factors that may increase the risk of wars, including civil wars. However, analysing the causes and economic drivers of conflict is receiving increasing attention, especially concerning civil wars in the poorest regions. The main purpose of this article is to present the process of creating armed groups in Darfur, as well as their ideology, internal divisions, stages of conflict and the emergence of these groups. This study attempted to analyse the motives and objectives of Darfuri rebel groups. Using a model created by Spittaels and Hilgert, we explain the relations between events on the ground and the motives and objectives behind the waging of a war, which in future could make it easier to outline the essence of the conflict.

Opis:
Haná is the oldest formed ethnographic area in Moravia with distinctive features in all fields of folk culture, architecture, clothing, dialect, and folk literature. Sheep coat with jagged hem, called Zipfelpelz in German and cípatý kožich in Czech, which drew the attention of writers and topographers as early as in the late–18th century, was one of such noticeable characteristics. It represented the peculiarity of local inhabitants. Although some researchers understand it as an archaic form of clothing, written reports and pictorial evidences come from the late–18th and 19th centuries, when it was considered to be obsolete and disappeared. German authors use the term Zipfelpelz for fur coats of different appearance; inhabitants of the Polish Baltics, in the region of Lake Gardno and Lake Łebsko lakes, wore a close form of this fur coat.

In August 1942, anthropologist Elfriede Fliethmann and psychologist Ferdinand Carspecken tried various standardized psychological tests during a field examination in the Southern Polish town of Witów. Sources suggest that subsequent studies were intended to provide a “scientific” justification for the regime’s ethnic reorganization plans, similarly to a study in the Reichsgau Wartheland by psychologist Rudolf Hippius in the same summer. By employing a comparative mode of enquiry, the case study presented here gives a rare insight into then newly established scientific field: on the interface between anthropology and psychology, the concept of Rassenpsychologie (racial psychology) aimed to close the proclaimed gap between the natural sciences and humanities. Due to its fundamental conception the field was thus predestined to serve the Nazi regime. Investigating specific research practices of the (junior) scientists involved helps us under- stand further development of the concept of race, and thus the foundation of National Socialist ideology.

The global COVID-19 crisis has led to the international isolation of educational institutions, which have had to adapt to changing ways of presenting the information. Mobile applications are the future of the education sector, leading toward its development. The study aims to develop a mobile application to support learning the peculiarities of leather and fur garment manufacturing sewing techniques. The mobile app "TechLab" was developed by using MIT App Inventor. The article proves the effectiveness of its use in the educational space based on social surveys among teachers and students at different levels of education.

Celem niniejszej pracy było określenie barwy okrywy włosowej podstawowych gatunków zwierząt futerkowych. Badania wykonano na skórach surowych, za pomocą kolorymetru typu Minolta CR-200. Barwę określała jej jasność fotometryczna Y% oraz współrzędne x i y. Okazało się, że pod względem wyróżników Y%, x i y barwa była podobna średnio na czterech miejscach skóry i na boku.
The aim of the work was to determine the fur color of fur animals. The studies were performed on raw skins, using colorimeter, type Minolta CR-200. The colour was determined by its photometric brightness Y% and coordinates x and y. It was found that in respect of Y% indicators, i.e. x and y, the colour of the coat was similar as well on the side.

The presented article attempts to assess the competitiveness of foreign trade in fur skins and their products in Poland at the background of the European Union countries between 2005 and 2016. The data used for the research came from the statistical yearbooks of the Central Statistical Office, and the study was supported by methods of descriptive and comparative analysis. It also used the data of the International Trade Center (ITC) and Faostat database. The results of the research confirmed that Poland has a competitive advantage in foreign trade in fur skins and their products in 2005 and in 2008-2011 and 2013-2016. In addition, Poland recorded one of the highest trade coverage ratios between 2010 and 2017 among the EU countries. It was found that, recently, Poland noted one of the fastest rates of competitive advantage in this respect, and the concentration of production in Poland may strengthen its role in the international arena, and have more and more impact on the economic situation of producers operating in the industry.
W przedstawionym artykule podjęto próbę oceny konkurencyjności handlu zagranicznego skórami futerkowymi i ich wyrobami w Polsce na tle krajów Unii Europejskiej w latach 2005-2016. Dane liczbowe służące do badań pochodziły z roczników statystycznych Głównego Urzędu Statystycznego, a w opracowaniu wsparto się metodami analizy opisowej i porównawczej. Wykorzystano także dane Międzynarodowego Centrum Handlu (ITC) oraz bazę Faostat. Wyniki badań potwierdziły, że Polska miała przewagę konkurencyjną w handlu zagranicznym skórami futerkowymi i ich wyrobami w roku 2005 oraz w latach 2008-2011 i 2013-2016. Ponadto Polska jest krajem, w którym na przestrzeni lat 2009-2016 odnotowywano jedne z największych wskaźników pokrycia importu eksportem pośród krajów Unii Europejskiej. Stwierdzono, że Polska jest jednym z krajów, w którym odnotowano najszybsze tempo wzrostu przewagi konkurencyjnej w tym zakresie, a koncentracja produkcji w Polsce może umocnić jej rolę na arenie międzynarodowej, a także mieć coraz większy wpływ na sytuację ekonomiczną producentów działających w omawianej branży.

W artykule porównano dwa raporty Najwyższej Izby Kontroli, która przeprowadziła kontrole organów państwowych zobligowane do wykonywania nadzoru nad funkcjonowaniem ferm zwierząt. Wnioski przedstawione przez Najwyższą Izbę Kontroli wykazały, że nadzór nad funkcjonowaniem owych ferm nie jest wystarczająco skuteczny i pozostawia wiele wątpliwości co do działalności organów państwowych. W przytaczanych raportach została opisana niestabilna sytuacja polskich organów kontroli, która stawia pod znakiem zapytania nie tylko działalność wymienionych organów, ale także kondycję całej struktury administracyjnej i kontrolnej. Ponadto wnioski zawarte w raportach wykazały, że podmioty uzyskujące zgodę na prowadzenie danych instalacji środowiskowych nie zawsze spełniają wymogi związane z ochroną środowiska, bowiem dokonują niekorzystnego podziału instalacji. Rozwój nowoczesnego rolnictwa i jego intensyfikacja może powodować szereg zagrożeń środowiskowych, głównie dla mieszkańców znajdujących się w bezpośrednim sąsiedztwie ferm utrzymujących zwierzęta. Przemysłowa hodowla zwierząt nie jest obojętna dla jakości i warunków życia ludzi mieszkających w bliskim sąsiedztwie ferm za sprawą uciążliwych odorów oraz zanieczyszczeń wód, w tym w wyniku przenawożenia gleb, prowadzących do zagrożeń chemicznych i mikrobiologicznych. Skutkiem występujących uciążliwości są protesty lokalnych społeczeństw. Brak odpowiedniego nadzoru zagraża również rodzimym gatunkom zwierząt, wyniszczając zwłaszcza ptaki i niektóre ssaki.
The article compares two reports of the Supreme Audit Office, which has performed controls of state authorities obliged to supervise the functioning of fur farms. The conclusions presented by the Supreme Audit Office have confirmed suspicions that the supervision over these farms is not effective enough and leaves many doubts about the actions of state authorities. Cited reports clearly present an unstable situation of Polish controlling authorities. It is noteworthy in such a way, that it uncovers incompetence and irregularities of mentioned entities. It questions the current situation not only in the mentioned bodies, but also in the entire administrative and control structure. Additionally, the conclusions of the reports also state that entities obtaining authorization to run given environmental installations still have a possibility of avoiding the requirements concerning environmental protection by carrying out unfavorable divisions of these installations. Development and intensification of modern agriculture can cause a number of environmental risks, especially to people living in the immediate vicinity of farms. Industrial animal husbandry has a negative impact on the quality of life and living conditions nearby, due to foul odors and water contamination, including pollution caused by excessive fertilization that leads to chemical and microbiological hazards. These occurring inconveniences cause protests in local communities. The lack of adequate supervision also poses a threat to native species of animals, which may lead to extinction, especially among birds and certain mammals.
