Opis:: Enterprises functioning in the market economy consider survival and development to constitute the most general goal of their activity. Survival is the essential goal, first of all implemented in practice in the situation of a recession or an economic stagnation, on which the completion of the majority of other postulates depends. However, every organization which implements the survival goal, in consequence must be development-oriented. The necessity of the enterprise transformation, that is its adaptation to changing conditions of the environment means constant proceeding to a higher stage of development which is conditioned by external and internal changes. Maintaining balance between external and internal conditionings is related to the individual needs of an enterprise, its position on the market, long-term prospects for development and the assessment of the current situation and the effectiveness of management. The postulates presented above, referring to the determination of strategic directions of the enterprise activity, must be confronted in today’s economic reality with the idea and the main assumptions of the Value Based Management concept, which has now become one of the leading concepts of enterprise management, acceptable by the majority of its shareholders. The paper attempts to identify relations between the process of development and the process of enterprise value creation, developing primarily the subject of common goals, determinants and the strategy of both processes.

Opis:: Purpose – Identification of efficiency and effectiveness of usage of the EU structural funds in Poland directed to financing of SME sector enterprises in the years 2014–2020.Methodology – Review and assessment of Polish and international documentary and research papers concerning the financing of SME sector enterprises with EU structural funds.Findings – The most substantial support for small and medium-sized enterprises has been planned as part of the Smart Growth or the Eastern Poland Operational Programmes and the Regional Operational Programmes. The total funding allocated to small and medium-sized enterprises within two thematic objectives stands at over EUR 15.7 billion. The European Union’s Cohesion Policy towards supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in the years 2014–2020 will provide them with easier access to EU funds thanks to new flexible rules. These include the submission of reports on the use of EU funds via the Internet, limiting to the degree of control over small enterprises, easier criteria for qualifying projects or a greater number of financial instruments and greater access to them.Research implications – Results of the paper may be used in further researches regarding the use of European structural funds in Poland as far as SME financing is concerned.Practical implications – Results of the paper may influence the government organisations and raise the effectiveness of the distribution of structural funds among proper enterprises, which will improve the general efficiency in spending European Union’s Structural Funds.Social implications – Results of the paper may foster the improvement of awareness of proper allocation of European Union’s Structural Funds in Polish SME sector enterprises.Originality/Value – The paper supplements knowledge regarding the financing of SME sector enterprises by European Union’s Structural Funds in Poland in the years 2014–2020.Type of article – A theoretical paper.

Opis:: This article emphasises the influence that the quality and information capacity of the chosen form of accounting have on both, the micro-enterprise development opportunities, and the entrepreneurial behavior of their respective owners. Highlighted in a survey conducted among university students and academics is the role of accounting system information, and the legal and tax regulations within business processes practically implemented in the organisation. The paper proposes the concept of training young entrepreneurs in the field of accounting using process approach to management. On the basis of examples of processes in the area of accounting, there are presented the clear advantages of process modeling with the aim of reducing risk, and identifying tax and balance sheet consequences of micro-enterprise management decisions. The need to understand business processes, which in computer systems are often realised automatically without active participation of the user, is emphasised to students. The article indicates the need of controlling tools in micro-enterprises, something impossible to implement in Poland due to the dominance of simplified forms of tax records. The type of accounting record chosen may stimulate or inhibit the development of entrepreneurship by encouraging or discouraging entrepreneurial behavior. The inclusion of process approach to teaching accounting will enable prospective mico-entrepreneurs to understand the role of financial information in making management decisions. The article justifies process approach to entrepreneurship education through the prism of accounting, tax and legal regulations, equipping students with practical skills to plan, conduct and develop their own business.

Opis:: Proces rozwoju współczesnych przedsiębiorstw jest warunkowany wieloma czynnikami, zarówno o charakterze wewnętrznym, jak i wynikających z otoczenia, w którym podmiot funkcjonuje. Jednym z czynników kształtujących sprawność organizacji, które funkcjonują w niepewnym i złożonym otoczeniu, są pracownicy, którzy powinni posiadać określone kompetencje, wiedzę teoretyczną, umiejętności praktyczne oraz wyznawać wartości, które w organizacji są uważane za istotne. Powszechnie wiadomo, że jakość kapitału ludzkiego, jak również umiejętne zarządzanie tym kapitałem stanowią w dzisiejszych czasach główny obszar budowania pozycji rynkowej przedsiębiorstw. Niniejsze opracowanie stanowi próbę oceny roli czynnika ludzkiego w rozwoju współczesnych firm sektora MŚP. Przeprowadzone analizy wskazują na bardzo dużą rolę czynnika ludzkiego w rozwoju małych i średnich firm na rynku. Przedsiębiorcy reprezentujący badane podmioty doceniają wagę tego czynnika i szacują, że w kolejnych latach kapitał ludzki będzie odgrywał jeszcze większą rolę w rozwoju ich firm.
The process of development of contemporary enterprises is conditioned by many factors, both interior as well as resulting from the environment in which the entity operates. One of the factors influencing the efficiency of organizations that operate in an uncertain and complex environment are human resources which should have certain competencies, theoretical knowledge, practical skills and adhere to organization’s values which are considered to be important. It is well known that quality of human capital, as well as skilful management of this capital is nowadays the main area of building market position of contemporary enterprises. This paper is an attempt to assess the importance of human factor in development of SME sector companies. The carried out analyses indicate the great importance of human factor in development of small and medium-sized firms on the market. Entrepreneurs representing the surveyed entities value the importance of this factor and estimate that in the coming years human resources will play even greater role in the development of their companies.

Opis:: In the elaboration, the authors drew attention to the funds intended for projects co-financed by the European Union and the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development’s Activity 8.1: Innovative Economy Operational Program: Support for economic activity in the field of e-commerce. The authors described the use of funds during the period 2008–2010 and evaluated the innovation and quality of the chosen projects. The possible costs of a sample project were estimated. The results indicate the need for a more rational management of funds intended for projects co-financed by the European Union. The authors also showed the recipient enterprises’ point of view on keeping the agreement on the part of the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development.

Opis:: Rozwój przedsiębiorstwa, a jednocześnie całej branży związany jest z opracowaniem, a następnie osiąganiem założeń strategicznych poprzez określone zmiany (jakościowe i ilościowe), które powinny przyczyniać się do budowania przewagi konkurencyjnej tych organizacji w dłuższej perspektywie czasu. Istotne znaczenie ma w tym ujęciu skuteczność strategii rozwojowych podmiotów z branży TSL. Należy zaznaczyć szczególne znaczenie szeroko rozumianych przewozów towarowych i wpływ ich funkcjonowania na działalność pozostałych sektorów gospodarki. Celem badawczym jest opracowanie prognozy zmian liczby przedsiębiorstw branży TSL i określenie założeń strategii rozwojowej tych podmiotów w latach 2020–2024. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych badań wykazano, że w latach 2020–2024 powinien wystąpić wzrost liczby podmiotów od 158 742 do 168 032 (o 5,85%). Dodatkowo na podstawie analizy SWOT można wskazać, że podmioty z branży TSL powinny obrać w najbliższych latach kierunek strategiczny „maxi-maxi”, który zakłada ukierunkowanie na dynamiczny rozwój.
The development of the enterprise and, at the same time, the entire industry is associated with the development and then achievement of strategic assumptions through specific changes (qualitative and quantitative) that should contribute to building the competitiveness and competitive advantage of these organizations in the long run. The effectiveness of development strategies of entities from the TSL sector is important in this approach. The aim of the article is to forecast changes in the number of enterprises in the TSL sector and to define the development strategy of these entities in 2020-2024. The conducted research shows that in the years 2020-2024 there should be an increase in the number of entities from 158742 to 168032 (increase by 5.85%). Additionally, the SWOT analysis indicates that entities from the TSL industry should choose the “maxi-maxi” strategy in the coming years, which assumes focusing on dynamic development.

Opis:: Both in the Polish and global economy, many companies are looking for solutions and management methods that, with such high competition, will allow them to adapt to the changing conditions and increasingly demanding customers. Many companies, to meet their expectations, began to improve their processes, moving away from the conventional way of thinking for a new approach, and new management methods. The purpose of this article is to analyze the selected methods of the implemented production system, based on Lean Manufacturing principles, which is still evolving. The leitmotiv of this system is the elimination of all loss-making activities, finding the right solution and using the appropriate tools, as well as involvement of employees. The research was carried out on the case study referring to the corporation, which operates in the sanitary technology sector. The paper attempts to assess the scope of implementation of the individual Lean Manufacturing tools and their importance in the process of eliminating of various types of wastage.

Opis:: Uwarunkowania rozwoju przedsiębiorstwa opisywane szeroko w literaturze przedmiotu od połowy XX wieku są w praktyce postrzegane subiektywnie. Badania własne przeprowadzone w latach 2012-2013 wśród 141 osób z wykształceniem menedżerskim, zatrudnionych w wielkopolskich przedsiębiorstwach, wskazały na rozbieżność percepcji uwarunkowań rozwoju przedsiębiorstwa w wyróżnionych grupach pracowników oraz znaczną różnorodność wymienianych czynników rozwoju.
In practice, determinants of development of the company described extensively in the lit-erature since the mid-twentieth century are perceived subjectively. Own research conducted in 2012-2013 among 141 people with managerial education, employed in regional companies have revealed a discrepancy of perception determinants of enterprise development in groups of employees and managers, as well as a considerable diversity of exchanged development factors.

Opis:: Artykuł prezentuje nowatorskie i zarazem dyskusyjne podejście do problematyki kreowania i rozwoju przedsiębiorstwa. Przyjęto w nim, że panujące przekonanie o triadzie czynników decydujących o rozwoju przedsiębiorstwa (właściciel - przedsiębiorca - menedżer) jest niepełne i niewystarczające. Wskazano na istotną rolę konsumenta w tym zakresie. Rozważania koncentrują się na prezentacji modelowego ujęcia roli konsumenta (gospodarstwa domowego) w rozwoju przedsiębiorstwa. Zawierają one bogatą listę określoną kanonem argumentów przemawiających za zasadnością uwzględnienia konsumenta, gospodarstwa domowego jako czwartego czynnika rozwojowego przedsiębiorstwa. Rozważania poprzedzone są krótkim rysem historycznym badań nad tą problematyką, a ponadto przykładami różnego spojrzenia na rolę i udział konsumenta w kształtowaniu rozwoju.
The article presents an innovative and, at the same time, controversial approach of the author to the subject matters of creation and development of an enterprise. He assumes that the prevailing conviction of the triad of factors deciding development of an enterprise (owner - entrepreneur - manager) is incomplete and insufficient. He points out to an important role of the consumer in this respect. The deliberations are focused on presentation of the model expression of the role of consumer (household) in enterprise development. They comprise a rich list described as a canon of arguments speaking in favour of reasonability to take into account the consumer, household as the enterprise's fourth developmental factor. They are preceded by a short historical outline of research on these subject matters and examples of the currently diversified look at the role and share of the consumer in development shaping.

Opis:: This article is dedicated to the influence help may have on entrepreneurs and how it is perceived by them as affecting the effectiveness of their operations. This analysis is based on examples illustrating the various forms of assistance and how these are perceived by their beneficiaries. The article suggests criteria for judging whether a given activity is of a helpful nature, regardless of how a beneficiary may see it. It also attempts to explain the commonly observed phenomenon of entrepreneurs banishing from their minds all recognition of the fact that they are taking advantage of assistance, based on the well-known theory from social psychology called the „Theory of cognitive dissonance”. This points to the possibly negative effect of the tendency by the businessman to banish from his mind objective facts on the various aspects of his firm's operations, such as assessment of investment decisions or the fulfillment of obligations. This article also applies to practices applied by many organizations specializing in the distribution of assistance for entrepreneurs that fail to attach any importance to their beneficiaries understanding the assistance nature of their offer, thus fostering an incorrect and harmful interpretation by entrepreneurs.

Opis:: One of the features of the European Union’s funds redistribution, based on multiannual financial perspectives, is modification of legal and organisational frameworks related to the principles for transferring support to beneficiaries at the turn of subsequent perspectives. This may result in delays in funds distribution. Currently, this is the case of funds designated for enterprise development which is the focus of the article. The basic provisions that regulate transfer of money at the EU level were published only a few days before the new financial perspective started. While the basic provisions at the national level came into force after several months since the beginning of the eligibility period. Consequently, executory provisions and individual programmes are being developed only now.
