Article will address the issue of changes in national identity in Poland in the 20th and 21st centuries. Issue will be considered with the importance of territory in the sense of man’s national identity – this will apply to territories which became a part of the Polish state aft er World War II: in particular, the lower Silesia. Th e main problem will be, therefore, the presence in the common consciousness concepts describing nationality in relation to the category of territory. Area of empirical research will be artefacts of mass culture – and specifi cally Polish popular literature resulting in the mentioned time.

The article discusses the issue of teaching the history of historiography in the context of the values and goals that students of history declare as important to them. Based on the survey, it can be stated that for the students of history at AMU two important values are prevalent: intellectual development and work for the benefi t of society (understood as the commemoration of things worth remembering). It is also important for them to acquire skills useful in future work. “The history of historiography” as an academic subject may enable the realization of these values and goals. A lecturer in the history of historiography can show students the relationship of historical knowledge to social problems. She/he can also introduce modern methods of data analysis to present the problem of reception of historiography in the modern world.

Artykuł dotyczy wymowy twórczości zespołu Arija w kontekście badań nad przemianami we współczesnej kulturze rosyjskiej. Interpretacja przekazu zawartego w twórczości została poprzedzona badaniami popularności zespołu z wykorzystaniem danych statystycznych dostarczanych przez serwis trends.google. Wyniki badań świadczą o relacji między przekazem zawartym w twórczości Arii a postrzeganiem świata obecnym wśród jego odbiorców. Zauważalna w twórczości zespołu ewolucja od wartości indywidualnych poprzez krytykę egoistycznego indywidualizmu do wartości kolektywnych jest zatem związana z stanem świadomości obecnym w rosyjskim społeczeństwie i rosyjskiej kulturze czasówwspółczesnych.
The article deals with the meaning of Aria’s works in the context of research on the changes in contemporary Russian culture. Interpretation of the message contained in the works was preceded by research into the popularity of the band using the statistics provided by trends. google. The results show the relationship between the message contained in Aria’s work and the perception of the world present among his audience. Noticeable in the work of the team, the evolution of individual values through the criticism of egoistic individualism to collectivist values is therefore connected with the state of consciousness present in Russian society and Russian culture of modern times.

Opis:
This article is in a sense a dialogue devoted to the presence of conspiracy theories on social media and mass culture. The authors present the current state of research on the development of digital culture and its social consequences. Next, a case study of the existence of the conspiracy theory of so-called Wielka Lechia is presented. In the analysis the authors combine theoretical and technical considerations of Web 2.0 with research inquiry, which is the analysis of the structure of the Great Lechia theory in social media. The problem of the popularity of the concept of Paweł Szydłowski's and Janusz Bieszk's has been referred to a wider context related to the modern functioning of historical knowledge on the Web. The factual orientation of historical education and the influence of social media on the functioning of the social dimension of history and historians have been indicated as the reason for the current state of the problem. Finally, the authors refer to the digital version of pseudoscience to its earlier analog counterparts and make a structural comparison of both. The effect of this confrontation is to point the phenomenon of remediation of conspiracy theories and the growing de-professionalization of discourse, which ultimately leads to the end of the era of intellectual authorities.

The article is devoted to the issue of the impact of the new media on the mass culture. Authors have explored community portals using modern methods of quantitative and qualitative data analysis. The results show that belief in the more democratic, egalitarian character of the new media compared to the traditional corporate model of the mass-media industry may be a delusion as large mass media corporations have also had a great impact on the functioning of social networking sites.

The main aim of the article was to present two emerging discourses of contemporary historiography in the field of digital media. In the first example, the authors present the thought of Niels Brügger, called the Web History and Web-minded historiography, which concentrates upon the digital source itself. The other school is marked by the works of Friedrich Kittler and Wolfgang Ernst, and called media archaeology. It underlines the concept of the medium itself as a primary object of research.

Opis:
The subject of the article is the specific nature of historical narration in digital media (YouTube). Both the media where the Polish state is the channel owner and ones belonging to individual political parties and fractions are being studied. The relationship between the narration and national identity is analyzed. The question under discussion is to what extent national identity is a phenomenon ingrained in the ethnic and historical peculiarities of a given society. The authors contrasts the primordialist concept with Ernest Gellner’s modernist concept. In the second part the authors refer to the discussion about the significance of historical narration for the formation of identity: if historical narration is just an accidental component of identity formation processes or rather a fundamental one.
