    The article is focused on the analysis of the contemporary operational environment, which is perceived as part of the wider security environment. The current operational environment is characterized as complex, dynamically changing and unpredictable. A systematic approach to the operational environment defines a set of its determining elements and their functional links. In the operational environment are additionally specified operational areas for individual commanders. Set of operational and mission variables allows the commanders to perform a comprehensive analysis and evaluation of these operational areas.

    The aim of this article is to review and identify main attributes of a new form of subversion, so called digital subversion. Digital subversion is relatively new phenomena frequently used as vital part of nowadays resistance movement and hybrid warfare tactics. The article looks at subversion from the point of history through resistance movement and current use of hybrid warfare tactics where digital subversion can be considered as a vehicle for the deployment and achievement of other elements, tools and objectives of hybrid warfare. Within the digital subversion operating concept can be identified such elements and tools like online trolling, digital and social media, digital activism, digital media and marginally also cyber operations. Conclusion is focused on strategic and institutional perspective of how to counter digital subversion. An article expands today view on subversion as a vital element of resistance movement and hybrid warfare fused with cyberspace to a digital subversion.

    Article points out the conditions and legal foundations forming the mutual defence clauses enshrined in the North Atlantic Treaty and the Treaty of Lisbon. It also points out different philosophies in their wording and application options in practice. In the next part, the article defines the main aspects of mutual defence under the Common Security and Defence Policy of the European Union (CSDP). Subsequently, the article addresses the definition and phases of hybrid warfare and characterizes aspects of the CSDP in relation to Crimean crisis. Finally, article raises the question of whether the current Level of ambitions of the CSDP corresponds with the existing priorities of individual EU countries.

    The term operation is in military theory and practice commonly used word. Despite appearances, that its meaning is generally clear and does not need more detailed specification, history has shown that its perception was not always identical. The reason is the fact that this concept must continuously adapt to the current state of warfare, which reflects the social conditions of the historical period. Even in present days, in time of complex security crises appear facts which point to the need to revise the meaning of that term.
