    Opis:
    A hundred children from a primary school at Lublin, in whom Enterobius vermicularis was detected by Graham's method, were examined for the presence of volatile fatty acids in the urine by Soprunova's method. In the same children coproscopic examinations were carried out by the method of direct smear and by Riva's and Faust's methods. The obtained results show that E. vermicularis does not excrete volatile fatty acids characteristic of Ascaris, which means that infecticon by E. vermicularis does not affect the results of biochemical diagnostics of ascaridosis. The results confirm the specificity of Soprunova's method and point at its possible use in field examinations.

    Opis:
    Examinations were made of household objects contaminated with eggs of Enterobius vermicularis, Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura by using a device, joined to a vacuum cleaner, worked out by Kaledin and Romanienko and modified by the authors. The method by Kaledin and Romanienko has been found to be simple, rapid and effective because in the course of collecting samples, ready microscopic preparations are obtained. The obtained results concerning the degree of contamination of various objects with eggs of parasites are in agreement with the mechanism of transmission of eggs found in the environment and are in accordance with the observations of other authors. It seems that the method of Kaledin and Romanienko may be used in complex parasitic examinations.

    Proteins were extracted from F. hepatica collected on cattle and sheep. The extract was purified in the column with sephadex G-25. The proteins were separated using the Davis method in electrophoretic systems constructed by the authors, in the columns and in blocks in polyacrylamid gel. The electrophoregrams served for making densometric diagrams and for calculating electrophoretic mobility coefficient (Rf) of the identified protein bands. Both in the blocks and in the columns 26 protein bands have been identified in F. hepatica from both cattle and sheep. Statistical analysis with t Student test showed significant differences in their Rf values. A high reproducibility of the results has been obtained both in the columns and in the blocks of polyacrilamid gel.

    The studies revealed that the infection with the „limax" group amoebae resulted in the severe changes in the respiratory system: in interstitial pneumonia, the injuries of the bronchi, the bronchioles and the blood vessels. The histopathological examinations showed the focal destruction of the alveoli in case of the mild amoeba invasion while the massive invasion caused the complete destruction of the respiratory epithelium, the blood vessels, the bronchi and the bronchioles. Apart from all the changes in the alveoli, in most cases the significant pulmonary hyperaemia and the numerous blood foci were observed. Moreover, the histopathological changes in the blood vessels, the bronchi and the bronchioles consisting in the epithelial destruction and the laceration of the blood vessel walls and the bronchioles were disclosed.

    Opis:
    Decision making supported by task-oriented software tools plays a pivotal role in a modern enterprise. That is because commercially available ERP systems are not able to respond in an interactive on-line/real-time mode. It opens a new generation of DSS that enable a fast prototyping of production flows in multi-project environment as well as an integrated approach to project execution evaluation. In that context our goal is to provide a knowledge base approach allowing one to be independent on a context or representation of particular data as well as allowing designing an interactive and task-oriented decision support system (DSS). The assumed knowledge base mode of specifying a production system leads to solving a logic-algebraic method (LAM) decision problem. The approach proposed complements the decision system with an additional module (evaluation module) and facilitates searching for possible solutions meeting company production programme execution evaluation criteria. The results obtained are implemented in a software package supporting project management in the SMEs. Illustrative example of the ILOG-based software application is provided.

    Opis:
    This paper presents the concept of topologies and investigation results of switched-capacitor voltage multipliers designed for application in high power systems. The analyzed family of multilevel converters includes established topologies as well as novel concepts. The application of thyristors as well as the invention of novel concepts of multiplier topologies and appropriate control make it possible to achieve high efficiency, high voltage gain, reliable and simple DC-DC converters for high power systems. Based on analytical models of the SCVMs, the paper presents a discussion of the selection of components and the efficiency of the converters as a function of converted power as well as the voltage range on the input and the output side. The results are supported by computer simulations and demonstrative experimental tests.
