    The actions of Polish privateers (corsairs) during the Second Northern War (1655–1660) are not so far thoroughly investigated. It was assumed that the city of Gdańsk was not interested in creating of such a fleet, which could threaten the city itself. Hence, small actions were carried out solely by the ships of Gdańsk. However, the multiple pieces of information from the Danish-Swedish negotiations from 1658 show that the King John Casimir, acting in concert with the Danes, prepared some actions of the privateers on the Baltic. This sparked outrage of the Swedes, who thought that in accordance with the principle of dominium maris only the Kingdom of Sweden and the Kingdom of Denmark have the right to maintain the armed fleets in the Baltic.

    W artykule zaprezentowano istotne źródło dotyczące organizacji kancelarii szwedzkiej króla Gustawa II Adolfa, czyli Porządek z 1626 r. w tłumaczeniu na język polski. Ukazuje ono wszelkie istotne zadania tego urzędu. Źródło powinno służyć jako punkt odniesienia i porównania dla innych podobnych urzędów Europy Centralnej. Poziom szczegółowości w opisywaniu prac urzędu jest wysoki, umożliwia rozwiązanie wielu szczegółowych problemów badawczych odnośnie do działań instytucji.
    The article presents an important source on the organization of the Swedish chancellery of King Gustavus Adolphus, i.e., the Order of 1626 translated into Polish. It shows all the important tasks of this office. The source should serve as a point of reference and comparison for other similar central government offices in the Central Europe. The level of detail in describing the work of the office is high, it allows to solve many research problems regarding the activities of the institution.

    The work on translation of S. Pufendorf De rebus a Carolo Gustavo, Sueciae rege, gestis commentariorum libri septem [A monumental memorial for King Charles Gustav of Sweden] published in Nuremberg 1696 is near the end. This book, decorated with wonderful illustrations, drawings based on the E. Dahlberg is a mine of knowledge on the Great Northern War 1655-1660. Confrontation with the image of that era created by later historians is the basic research problem, both for Pufendorf’s text and Dahlberg’s illustrations. However, it is not only about an indication of errors, since errors occur always. Much more interesting is the reconstruction of the source workshop of both artists and their way of thinking. However, many researchers analyzed Dahlberg’s engravings in Polish historiography, there is no proper picture of the whole series of drawings on the Polish war.

    The documents registered in the Polish Crown Chancery books (Metrica Regni) are used in combination with other sources in works on the history of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. In this article the approach is different – the analysis is focused on the Crown Chancery documents only. The questions are; how many of the documents, registered in the short period 1587–1591, described the situation in Livland and Kurland (i.e. today Latvia)? What are the main topics of this acts? How was the situation in Livland seen by the chancery clerks and if their view is supported by the modern historiography? The answer is surprisingly positive. About 10% of all registered documents concern Livland and we do get a differentiated view on the subject. This newly acquired province was a place of many quarrels and fights. The officers from Poland and Lithuania had to organize the administration and to placate the old nobility and burghers. The religious differences did not make this task easy, since the king Sigismund Vasa would like to renovate the structures of the Roman Catholic church in Livland. Most of the documents are testimonies of some grants; to the Polish – Lithuanian gentry, to the old Livonian gentry, even to some burghers, who supported the Commonwealth in the struggle with Moscovia. We can conclude that acts registered in the Polish Metrica do correspond accurately with the view on Livland represented by the modern historiography, although the texts are quite laconic and only rarely we can see a continuation of a case in next documents.

    The project: The Polish Crown Metrica of King Ladislaus IV Vasa. Summarizing of the Books from the Central Archivess of the Historical Records in Warsaw, 1633–1648, carried out under the National Programme for the Development of Humanities in years 2014–2018, has been completed. Within its framework almost 5200 summaries were made in Polish, and they are now available on-line at http://agad.gov.pl/metrykalia.html. Royal documents pertain to various areas of operation of the society, and they constitute an important source for understanding of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Plans for continuation are being made, to cover the reign of Jan Kazimierz Vasa, 1648–1668

    The short-lived personal union of the years 1593–1599 encompassed many territories of modern Poland, Sweden, Lithuania, Belorussia, Ukraine, Latvia, Estonia and even some parts of today Russia. The idea of union was however unsuccessful, primarily due to religious differences. Nevertheless we can observe development of a small group of dignitaries, officers or diplomats interested in the success of this project, naturally with king Sigismund in the center. Some research tasks in connection with this theme can be identified: edition of little-known sources, especially king Sigismund’s Swedish chancery, but also prosopographical studies, or the analysis of the iconosphere.

    The article presents results of research on the bulk and shaken density of two commercial fertilizers: Pulgran urea and universal nitrogen fertilizer Salmag. A statistical analysis of the obtained results of average density at the assumed level of significance proved a significant difference between shaken and bulk density investigated with the use of Engelsmann apparatus and shaken density tested with a laboratory shaker for both investigated fertilizers. The obtained test results and uncertainty of the measured values served for calculation of uncertainty of the standard complex bulk and shaken density determined in case of many uncertainties. Further, an analysis of the impact of error sources on the value of complex uncertainty was conducted. The final results of the measurement were presented according to the convention of the Central Office of Measures.
    W artykule zaprezentowano wyniki badań gęstości nasypowej i utrzęsionej dwóch komercyjnych nawozów: mocznika Pulgranu i uniwersalnego nawozu azotowego Salmagu. Przeprowadzona analiza statystyczna otrzymanych wyników średnich gęstości na założonym poziomie istotności, wykazała istotne różnicę między gęstością utrzęsioną oraz nasypową badaną przy zastosowaniu aparatu Engelsmana, jak również gęstością utrzęsioną badaną z wykorzystaniem wytrząsarki laboratoryjnej dla obu badanych nawozów. Uzyskane wyniki badań oraz niepewności mierzonych wielkości posłużyły do obliczenia niepewność standardowej złożonej gęstości nasypowej i utrzęsionej wyznaczanej w przypadku występowania wielu niepewności. W dalszej części pracy przeprowadzono analizę wpływu źródeł błędów na wartość niepewności złożonej. Końcowe wyniki pomiaru przedstawiono według konwencji Głównego Urzędu Miar.

    W artykule dokonano przeglądu wyników badań nad wpływem przemieszczania bel cylindrycznych z zakiszaną paszą na szczelność ich osłony i porażenie przez grzyby pleśniowe. Z przeglądu literatury przedmiotu wynika, że manipulowanie belami cylindrycznymi, na których uformowano osłony z folii rozciągliwych, może prowadzić do zmniejszenia ich szczelności. Manipulowanie belami w okresie powyżej kilku dni po ich owinięciu folią rozciągliwą stanowi zwykle duże zagrożenie dla zachowania ich szczelności. Szczególnie narażone na utratę szczelności są bele owinięte mniej niż czterema warstwami foli oraz bele z materiału roślinnego o niskiej zawartości suchej masy.
    The article reviews the results of research on the impact of the movement of cylindrical bales with ensiled fodder on the tightness of their casing and infestation by mold fungi. The literature review shows that the manipulation of cylindrical bales on which stretch film casings were formed can lead to a reduction in their tightness. Manipulating bales over a period of a few days after being wrapped with stretch foil is usually a big threat to their tightness. Particularly exposed to loss of tightness are bales wrapped with less than 4 film layers and bales of plant material with a low content of dry matter.

    Omówiono zasadę wysiewu nasion kukurydzy i soi w dwóch rzędach odległych od siebie o 12,5 cm. Zwrócono uwagę na innowacyjność zespołu wysiewającego, którego moduł rozdzielania nasion jest wyposażany w dwie tarcze. Zamieszczono również wyniki badań jakości wysiewu kukurydzy, które prowadzono w warunkach laboratoryjnych i polowych.
    The principle of sowing corn and soybean seeds in two rows 12.5 cm apart from each other is discussed. The attention was paid to the innovativeness of the sowing unit, whose seed separation module is equipped with two discs. The results of tests of the quality of sowing maize, which were carried out in laboratory and field conditions, are also included.

    W pierwszej części artykułu dokonano przeglądu wyników badań nad wpływem przemieszczania bel cylindrycznych z zakiszaną paszą na szczelność ich osłony i jakość produktu końcowego. Przedstawiono również dwie metody oceny szczelności osłon z folii rozciągliwych – z zastosowaniem zestawu pomiarowego firmy Ekolag AB Claes Jonsson oraz poprzez pomiar koncentracji gazów. W drugiej części dokonano analizy czynników decydujących o uszkodzeniach osłony bel i ich wpływu na jakość produktu końcowego. Z przeglądu literatury wynika, że na szczelność owinięcia bel negatywnie wpływa: liczba wykonywanych manipulacji, termin ich przeprowadzenia, długość okresu przechowywania bel oraz liczba warstw folii. Najmniej szczelne były osłony na belach intensywnie przemieszczanych po 5 i 10 dniach od momentu ich owinięcia oraz długo przechowywanych. Bardziej narażone na utratę szczelności osłony były również bele owinięte 2 warstwami folii lub folią cieńszą od standardowej. Wykazano również, że bele przechowywane w warunkach produkcyjnych są często narażone na uszkodzenia ich osłony, zwykle powodowane przez ptaki, gryzonie i zwierzęta domowe, a stosowane sposoby ich ochrony nie zawsze są skuteczne. Kiszonki pochodzące z bel z uszkodzoną osłoną są niskiej jakości, a ich powierzchnia w znacznym stopniu jest pokryta pleśniami. Skuteczną metodą ograniczającą uszkodzenia bel z kiszonką przez gryzonie opracowaną w Japonii polegała na zastosowaniu nowego sposobu ich składowania, w którym bele nie były zgrupowane. Uszkodzenie folii na belach przechowywanych w ten sposób było wielokrotnie mniejsze niż na belach przechowywanych w sposób tradycyjny.
    The first part of the article reviews research results on the influence of movement of round bales with ensiled fodder on the tightness of their seal and final product quality. Two methods of assessing the tightness of stretch film seals were also presented: using the Ekolag AB Jonsson measuring set and measuring gases concentration under bale seal. In the part, factors determining the damages of the bale seal and their influence on the quality of the final product were analysed. The literature review shows that the tightness of the film seal of the bales is negatively influenced by the number of conducted manipulations, their timing, the length of the bale storage period and the number of film layers. The film seal was the least tight when bales were manipulated after 5 and 10 days after wrapping and stored for a long time. The bales wrapped up with 2 layers of film or thinner than the standard one were more likely to lose their tightness. It has also been shown that bales stored in production conditions are often exposed to damage of their seal, usually caused by birds, rodents and pets, and the methods used to protect them are not always effective. Silage coming from bales with damaged film seal are low quality and their surface is contaminated with moulds to a large extent. An effective method to reduce damage of silage in bale bales developed in Japan was a new method of bale storage. Damage to the film on bales stored in this way was many times smaller than on the bales stored in a traditional way.
