Opis:
After brief remarks related to the current discourse present in the professional literature on the perspective of the development of competences and professional improvement, this text focuses on ideas which have important implications for their perspective of development and the assessment of the process of professional improvement of teachers, namely (a) building teachers’ professionalism, especially for those who are trapped in an increasingly formalized system, based on documents, content of teachers training courses and then in a rigid career path and (b) defining and assessing the standards of the professional development process. The text ends with the thesis that the most valuable resources available in each school are the teachers, that there is an urgent need to remodel the current system and to concentrate on strengthening the potential present in the idea of the professionalization of teachers (and their assessment) in terms of teaching standards (related to what they should know and be able to do).

Opis:
Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN1) syndrome is an autosomal dominant hereditary disorder characterised by coexistence of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours (pNETs) with parathyroid and pituitary tumours. PNETs, including mostly non-functioning tumours, gastrinoma and insulinoma, occur in nearly 95% of MEN1 patients and account for over 50% of disorder-related mortality. Therefore, early initiation of screening for pNET using biochemical and imaging tests as well as appropriate surgical and systemic treatment are of particular importance for this group of patients. Currently, there are no clearly defined guidelines which determine the optimal methods for detection and treatment of pNET in MEN1. Caution should be exercised when applying the guidelines designed for patients with sporadic pNET to MEN1 patients as the clinical course of the disorder is slightly different, involving multifocality of lesions and younger age of patients at onset. This paper discusses the distinctive features and challenges in diagnosing and treating pNETs in MEN1 patients.

Mi-24 helicopter
Opis:
This paper presents a general concept of the Full Scale Fatigue Test of the Mi-24 helicopter including the test layout and load distribution, as well as describes the milestones to be achieved. Additionally, some initial work conducted in order to determine both the mass and load distribution in the structure is described. The main goal of the test is to verify the low cycle fatigue life of the helicopter structure (fuselage, tail boom, wings and landing gear). The test will be divided into two main stages at which flight and landing loads will be applied. The authors demonstrate the general test concept, the helicopter’s structure fixture and the arrangement of the hydraulic actuators at both stages in order to achieve representative loads during the test. The proposed concept is based on AFIT’s previous experience in full scale structural testing, available literature and the experience of the test staff.
