Amelia Rosselli
Opis:
In one of her many poetic motivation descriptions included in her literary works and comments, Amelia Rosselli points to tough-life experience as a factor influencing her artistic creativity. The Italian twentieth-century poet repeatedly emphasizes a direct impact of mental well-being as the driving force of her writing process. A gloomy flashback, hand in hand with a concept, experience, and fantasy, influence the expression of her pieces and structures the literary space. A minor overtoned reference to the grievous reality of Fascist Italy connected with the murder-for-hire of family members, sudden and premature death of her sweetheart and brother, mental illness in the context of the DNA memory, and, finally, the promise of suicide had all impacted noticeably upon the verses of her poems. Another thing worth mentioning is the issue of stress and hardships lived through by Amelia Rosselli’s mother and her immediate relatives just prior to the poet’s birth. According to the latest developments in medicine and cognitive sciences, any psychical damage influences bodily and mental functioning of persons not only directly affected by them, but also their descendants. The linguistic terms applied in the pieces of the Italian poet provoke a discussion of the phenomenon of post-memory. The term, which was proposed by Marianne Hirsch to refer to collective trauma inheritance, has been recently broadened by psychologists to encompass individual memory as well. The fragments written in four language codes (Italian, French, English, and music notation) offer hints to be used in the psycho-emotional analysis of the poet. Additionally, scrutinizing Amelia Rosselli’s nostalgic lyrical pieces, we can discern, by referring to psychological sciences, how the composition-making can constitute an auto-psychotherapy procedure. In terms of interdisciplinarity, the experience of melancholy and nostalgia in Amelia Rosselli’s artistic creativity covers the psychological, social, historical, cultural, political, and artistic areas.

Opis:
The article intends to analyze the importance of the encounter with the most dramatic voice of the second half of the twentieth century in Italy, the poet Amelia Rosselli, in the works of Antonella Anedda, in order to show how the acquaintance with Rosselli, started in the early eighties, has turned for Anedda into an intense, creative and human dialogue, aimed at questioning the classic postures of the lyric persona as well as the cliché that connects female poetry with a confessional dimension. The purpose of the article is to show how Anedda, constantly consulting the Rossellian work (with a particular predilection for Diario ottuso, first published in a journal in 1980), recognizes a “sororal magisterium”, starting from which to build a lyric witness, anchored to the choral and ethical dimension of writing.

Opis:
The Exercise Motives and Gains Inventory (EMGI) was developed by Strommer, Ingledew, & Markland (2015) to explore the influence that participatory motives may elicit on perceived gains. The EMGI was completed by REFIT® dance fitness class participants (N = 359) in order to investigate the application of the tool to dance fitness, examine the perceived motivations and gains of REFIT® participants, and test the usefulness of the EMGI in a faith-based exercise program setting. The data was analyzed for internal reliability, correlations were computed between corresponding motives and gains, and differences between means were calculated. The results of the study found that there was no statistically significant correlation between any corresponding motives or gains for a given construct. Discussion concerning the EMGI as a poor fit for this specific exercise population and recommendations for future research are also provided.

Opis:
Presacral tumors are rare with few published studies in the literature. It is unknown whether the course of the disease and the required treatment differs between pediatric and adult patients. The aim of the study was to compare presenting symptoms, surgical treatment, pathology, and recurrence rates of presacral tumors in these two groups. Material and methods. An IRB-approved chart review was conducted for patients diagnosed with a presacral tumor at the Cleveland Clinic between 1981 and 2011. Symptoms, physical exam, surgical details, tumor histology, and outcomes were collected as part of the review. Patients were divided into two groups: pediatric (< 18 years n=14) and adult (> 18 years n=50). Results. The most common symptom was a mass in pediatric and pain in adult patients. The most common pediatric primary tumor was a teratoma (n=5, 36%) versus Hamartoma/tailgut cyst (n=17, 34%) in adult patients. Three pediatric and nine adult patients developed tumor recurrences, and 2/14 (14%) pediatric and 4/50 (8%) adult patients developed metastases. Conclusions. This study summarizes the presentation, evaluation and management of pediatric and adult presacral tumors at tertiary referral center. The presentation, histology, and management of presacral tumors vary depending upon whether they occur in pediatric or adult patients and recognition of potential differences may influence management.

Opis:
The purpose of this study was to examine various influences that contribute to Black golfers engaging in golf as a physical activity and competing in it as a sport at an elite - level (i.e., college and professional levels). Given that Blacks are underrepresented as golf participants in general and at the elite - level in particular, it is important to gain insights from those who have excelled at golf beyond the recreational levels. Uti lizing a basic interpretive qualitative design, semi - structured interviews with 9 Black males and 1 Black female who were collegiate or professional golfers were conducted. Questions regarding how the participants became involved and interested in golf as a recreational and physical activity, and what contributed to their ability to compete beyond these beginning levels were asked. Findings suggest the following five factors contributed greatly to these participants’ participation and success in golf: 1) Familial Involvement, 2) Grass Roots Golf Programs, 3) Golf as a Means to College Scholarship, 4) Black Golfers as Role Models, 5) Black Golfer as Unique. Future research directions as well as practical implications for increasing racial minority participati on in golf as a physical activity and sport at the elite - levels are also provided.
