The paper presents the results of lubricating properties tests of Marinol RG 1240 motor oil used in trunk piston marine diesel engines and modified by chemical interaction aftermarket additives – Motor Life Professional and Mind. The test results were collected by means of a four-ball extreme pressure tester T-02 according to Polish Norm PN-76/C-04147. The following lubricating properties parameters were determined: weld load Pz, maximum nonseizure load Pn, seizure load Pt, load wear index Ih and load limit of wear Goz. Investigations showed that tested chemical interaction aftermarket additives improve load wear index Ih, and seizure load Pt (in case of Motor Life Professional), simultaneously impair maximum non-seizure load Pn. Weld load Pz remains on the same level. But the load limit of wear Goz which characterises the wear resistance in extremely hard working conditions increases considerably- 542% for tested oil with the addition of 5% by volume of Motor Life Professional and 520% with the addition of 5% by volume of Mind additive. These results indicates that tested aftermarket additives can form additional boundary layer (independent of lubricating oil boundary layer) which activates in extreme working conditions (very high temperatures and loads) of the sliding node elements. That layer could protect machines elements against seizure. In authors opinion, modifying of motor oils (provided with antiwear and antiseizure additives by the manufacturer) by chemical interaction aftermarket additives can increase durability and reliability of the machine elements especially in hard working condition for example frequent starts and load changes, overloads, operation in polluted atmosphere (transport, mining, building engineering etc.).

Opis:
On the basis of survival rate and breast height diameter divergence at age of 16, the adaptation of progeny of 45 Norway spruce stands of the Istebna race was evaluated in the Wisla (in situ) and Kórnik (ex situ) plots of the Carpathian Gene Bank. The determination concerned the significance of the effect of genetic (provenance) and environmental (block) factors as well as the effect of interaction of these factors on the divergence of the investigated adaptation traits. A selected Norway spruce population was characterized by the highest survival rate and breast height diameter in the habitat conditions of both conservation areas.

W artykule autor zawarł przegląd materii normatywnej Kodeksu morskiego z 2001 r. z punktu widzenia zamierzonych poczynań nowelizacyjnych. Jest on zwolennikiem hipoteki morskiej jako odrębnego samodzielnego, nowego ograniczonego prawa rzeczowego regulowanego wyłącznie przez kodeks morski. Autor artykułu jest krytykiem reguł rotterdamskich i uważa, że jest to nieudana próba zastąpienia reżimu reguł hasko-visbijskich opartego na stuletniej bez mała praktyce.
The article reviews the 2001 Maritime Code amendments, including Title I (General Provisions) and Title II (Vessel). The Author promotes new regulation of maritime lien as a distinct ius ad rem, specific to the maritime code. He takes a stand against the Rotterdam Rules as he believes they are an unsuccessful attempt to replace the Hague-Visby Rules and their nearly one hundred year old tradition.

Opis:
One of the trenches opened by the team of the PCMA during 2015–1026 at the site of Beit Ras (ancient Capitolias) in the governorate of Irbid, northern Jordan, revealed remains of the defensive city wall. Neither the foundation nor the earliest walking level connected with the wall could have been reached; however, the archaeological exploration allowed to identify three upper floors, all of them posterior to the construction of the city wall. The analysis of the ceramics from under the floors allowed to study the repertory of the local, regional and some imported wares in the Roman-period Capitolias and, at the same time, provided an insight to the chronology of the defenses of ancient Capitolias.

Under the notion of “collaboration”, the author understands any assistance to the occupation authorities that explicitly threatened the interest of the conquered people and state. On the other hand, assistance given to the enemy authorities in order to sustain the occupied territory’s vital state institutions and to protect, as far as possible, the people against the effects of war is treated by the author as “cooperation”. The author analysed this phenomenon in the General Government and concluded that representatives of occupation institutions provided a relatively narrow cooperation platform for the conquered Poles which strongly limited possibilities of advanced collaboration in the area. Even so, collaboration on several different planes did occur in the General Government, although to a limited extent. Collaborative behaviours were occurring, inter alia, on the political plane, even though Germans were not directly interested in political cooperation with Poles as they aimed to eliminate the Polish intelligentsia and reduce the rest of the society to the role of a primitive labour force. An example of political activities bordering on collaboration was Professor Władysław Studnicki’s attempts to come to an arrangement with Germans. Other forms of collaborative behaviours included individual or group participation in anti-Jewish riots resulting from the pre-war anti-Semitism of some Poles. The group of organisations intending to build their political capital through participation in anti-Jewish pogroms included National Radical Organisation (Narodowa Organizacja Radykalna) and “Atak” (“Attack”). Unmistakably collaborative behaviours were also taking place on the military and paramilitary plane. Even though top leaders of Third Reich were reluctant to form Polish armed divisions, in the autumn of 1944 they launched a campaign intended to recruit Poles to “Polish Wehrmacht”, which was to fi ght alongside Germans against the approaching Red Army. In spite of the obviously imminent collapse of the Nazi empire, the unit was joined by 699 people, some of whom were conscripted to “Hitler Jugend” due to young age. Others were distributed among different military units. Another example bordering on paramilitary collaboration was the activities of Polish, Jewish and Ukrainian police forces. They were being used by the enemy to perform operations clearly colliding with vital interests of the conquered people. Also, each offi cial employed in occupation public institutions and civil administration too eager to perform his/her enemy-imposed duties contravening the Polish raison d’état was crossing the thin line separating cooperation from collaboration. Another field where the line of permitted behaviour towards the enemy was being relatively easily crossed was culture and art. Particularly susceptible to collaboration were those writers and journalists who worked for the Nazi-controlled press titles published in the GG. All publications in those periodicals facilitated dissemination of propaganda among the conquered people. Also, the performances of some actors appearing in anti-Polish theatrical shows and propaganda fi lms had an unambiguously collaborative character. The most common and at the same time the most burdensome behaviour of a collaborative nature was individual denunciation, as well as regular cooperation with various Nazi police forces. In the final part of the article the author discusses the ways in which the Polish society and the Polish Underground State counteracted collaboration. Methods included stigmatisation of individual collaborators in the underground press, publication of codes of behaviour towards the enemy for different occupational groups, and went as far as creating an underground military and civil courts system. Independent courts were examining collaboration cases and passing death sentences in particularly gross cases.

Opis:
Thermal insulation may be influenced by the size of clothing and thus the volume of air gaps. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between the size of outer wear clothing, and thus the indirect fit (the volume and size of air gaps), and thermal insulation in static and dynamic conditions. A set of underwear and two types of outerwear for workers of the energy sector and the chemical industry were selected for the study. Results showed that the value of thermal insulation (regardless of the type of outerwear) first increased with increasing clothing size.

The aim of this study was to determine the kinetics of the survival of the test strain of Staphylococcus aureus in the product investigated. Yogurt samples were contaminated with S. aureus to an initial level of 103-104 cfu/g. The samples were then stored at four temperatures: 4, 6, 20, 22oC. During storage, the number of S. aureus forming colonies in a gram of yogurt was determined every two hours. Based on the results of the analysis culture the curves of survival were plotted. Three primary models were selected to describe the kinetics of changes in the count of bacteria: Cole's model, a modified model of Gompertz and the model of Baranyi and Roberts. Analysis of the model fit carried out based on the average values of Pearson's correlation coefficient, between the modeled and measured values, showed that the Cole's model had the worst fit. The modified Gompertz model showed the count of S. aureus as a negative value. These drawbacks were not observed in the model of Baranyi and Roberts. For this reason, this model best reflects the kinetics of changes in the number of staphylococci in yogurt.
